Sorry but as soon as I see people claiming to have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome the odds are that they are attention-seeking hypochondriacs who have self-diagnosed with rare diseases rendering them unfit for any employment other than making TikTok videos about their rare illnesses.

I’m curious about the doctors and nurse practitioners who sign off on this. Why would you do it? Maybe I’m just too innately selfish, but nothing would entice me to make a call like that. Why should I take on that responsibility? Talk about a god complex.

If I were a healthcare practitioner dealing with bed bound people who are dying, sure, I’d be willing to turn the morphine drip up to 11 if there was no legal risk to me. But giving the thumbs for a physically healthy person? No. Same with the people administering it. Why it is their problem you are sad?

The idea of assisted suicide for people with minimal physical deficiencies is weird on so many levels. Is it that hard to reliably do it yourself? I knew someone who knew someone who tried to off themselves with Tylenol in a car and survived with a lot of damage, but that doesn’t seem like a well thought out plan. Not trying to get into suicide porn here, just wondering if there is any real need for a process like this at all. If you have the motivation to go through a legal process, surely you can figure something out that doesn’t involve other people?
