Hundreds of pro-Hamas protesters crash Biden-Obama-Clinton fund raiser

President Joe Biden was repeatedly heckled by protesters during his New York City fundraiser with former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton on Thursday.

As Biden spoke about the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, a protester in the audience stood up and shouted, “Shame on you, Joe Biden! Shame on you! Shame on you! You are pushing genocide in Palestine and no amount of false concern–”

The protester was then forcibly escorted out of the venue as she continued to scream, “There’s blood on your hands!”

At another point during the fundraiser, a separate protester held up the Palestinian flag and shouted, “Palestinians are dying right now because of your actions!”

As the protester was forcibly dragged out by security, a man recording the incident shouted, “Shame! Stop brutalizing him. Stop brutalizing him.”

According to New York Magazine features writer Shawn McCreesh, the event was interrupted by protesters at least four times throughout the evening.

Biden’s fundraiser also attracted a large group of protesters outside the venue, who waved Palestinian flags, held signs calling for an end to US aid to Israel, and chanted, “𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐒𝐀!”

🇵🇸BREAKING: A massive march has taken to the streets toward Radio City Music Hall to protest Biden’s mega-fundraiser and say bloody-handed politicians are NOT welcome in NYC! #ShutItDown4Palestine

Biden’s fundraiser New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday raised $25 million and featured appearances from Late Show host Stephen Colbert, “body positivity” singer Lizzo, and actress Mindy Kaling.

President Biden received criticism from conservatives over his decision to continue with the fundraiser following the murder of 31-year-old NYPD officer Jonathan Diller on Monday.

“There are scores of NYPD officers unable to pay respects to their fallen brother tonight because they’re working security in the rain for Joe Biden’s $25 million fundraiser,” tweeted Spectator contributing editor Chadwick Moore.

Former President Donald Trump attended Diller’s wake on Thursday and told Fox News that Biden “didn’t even call the family.”

They will be at every campaign stop., but wouldn't dare interrupt a Trump rally, since they would be killed.

by Anonymousreply 8March 29, 2024 5:03 AM

Surprised that they were allowed to take over the street, etc. Would think there would be tighter security.

by Anonymousreply 9March 29, 2024 5:03 AM

They aren't pro-Humas. They believe the ongoing war needs to be reeled in since 30,000 people have been killed. One can be anti-Hamas and still believe a measured and tactical response is warranted. We all know Bebe is using the events of Oct 7th to kill as many Palestinians as he can. We continue to fund his efforts with our tax dollars. Your dear Biden has even said Bebe needs to reel it in, but he keeps sending him our money.

by Anonymousreply 10March 29, 2024 5:13 AM

And what, exactly, do you think Trump will do should he (((shudder))) win? Because that's the choice. You can protest Biden and use all your might to move Joe Biden and he'll respond. But Trump... well, there's a reason Bibi wants Trump to win, which he said out loud for everyone to hear.

by Anonymousreply 11March 29, 2024 5:19 AM

Several waves of protesters disrupted President Biden’s grandiose fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall Thursday, where he kicked it with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton to raise cash and enthusiasm for his 2024 re-election bid.

One demonstrator, a woman blowing a whistle, holding a “war pig” sign and warning of “nuclear war with Russia,” was removed from the lavish New York City event, dubbed by the 81-year-old president as a “grassroots fundraiser.”

Oh for fuck's sake you can oppose Israel's actions in Gaza without being "pro-Hamas." Also Chadwick Moore is a twat.

by Anonymousreply 13March 29, 2024 5:24 AM

Not really, R13. Hamas won't stop until every Israeli is wiped off the face of the earth. You're applying rational thought to irrational people.

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”

by Anonymousreply 14March 29, 2024 5:37 AM

Every one of the fifty or so majority-Muslim countries has a problem with that one Jewish state simply existing. But yeah, Israel is the villain here, sure.

by Anonymousreply 15March 29, 2024 5:41 AM

Yes, the country that is killing tens of thousands of people and starving millions more is currently at least one of the villains in this situation. And unless you think no other course of action is possible for Israel to continue to exist, opposing its current course of action is not the same as supporting its obliteration or being "pro-Hamas." It is possible to support Israel and also to believe that its current leadership is making terrible mistakes right now.

New Gallup Poll Shows Majority of Americans Disapprove of Israel’s Actions in Gaza. The Gallup poll conducted this month found that 55 percent of Americans disapproved of Israel’s military action, an increase of 10 percentage points from four months earlier.

Just 36 percent of Americans now approve of Israel's actions in Gaza. Support for Israel has dropped for both Republican and Democratic voters.

Both US Federal government and American public opinion has turned on Israel with the Palestinian civilian population death toll at more 32,000 to date and with millions of civilians on the brink of starvation and without access to clean drinking water, sanitation and basic healthcare. Children under the age of 18 make up 47.3 percent of Gaza's population, according to UNICEF.

To the imbecile at R8, Trump isn't the president impassibly watching how Israel massacres starving Gazan children, and dishonestly dropping a few aid packages while shipping millions of dollars worth of weapons to Israel every 36 hours, which are used to continue the genocide.

Biden could easily stop this by refusing to arm and finance the IDF, but he won't do it because the tiny part of his brain that still works, has electoral ambitions. Your criticism is childish at best, and downright stupid at worst - especially because the media are already vilifying Trump, when it isn't even guaranteed that he could win the 2024 election. In fact, we don't even know whether he'll be able to participate in the election itself.

by Anonymousreply 42March 29, 2024 4:17 PM

At this point, Israel should probably just withdraw, with all the hostages of course as a prerequisite, but still. I don't think it's going to accomplish the complete elimination of Hamas as it hoped.

On the other hand, if it still determined to take Rafah, as it keeps saying it is, just fucking do it. Stop dragging ass and dicking around. Yes, give citizens a chance to flee and a designated "safe" spot elsewhere, but get it done.

I suspect Israel is just dawdling these days because it has no fucking idea what comes next. Occupy? Don't Occupy? complete blockade? Incomplete blockade? Who the fuck knows? Not Netanyahu or his lunatic cabinet.

Protestors are people who do not know how politics works. You fight to get your guy elected and if you do, THEN you get to make demands. Right now they are playing into Trump's hands and weakening President Biden.

I understand this sentiment but my criticism of this type of criticism of Biden is the way it was expressed.

I am entering middle age and never in my memory has interrupting an event like this led to actual political change.

A list of causes which have employed this tactic are a list of things which haven’t been addressed while I can name off at least three or four social issues in the last 50 years which have been successfully addressed by lobbying and traditional politicking.

by Anonymousreply 51March 29, 2024 5:18 PM

As noted above, Netanyahu wants Trump elected in 2024. The people saying they won't vote for Biden or won't vote at all are playing right into Bibi's hands. Biden is really in a no-win situation.

Some have been quoted as saying that they're ready to deal with another Trump administration to "send a message to the Democrats." The only message they're sending is how much they want to shoot themselves in the foot.

So let's say Biden decides to stop sending aid to the IDF. Then he loses the majority of the much larger Jewish vote, and he knows it. You’ll definitely have a second Trump administration. Plus Netanyahu will just source weapons from somewhere else (Russia? China even?) and the situation doesn't change.

Bibi isn't ever going to eliminate Hamas, especially with much of the leadership safely ensconced in Qatar. What he is doing is guaranteeing the emergence of Hamas 2.0.

You want to criticize Biden? Fine. Yet I rarely ever hear a syllable of criticism of Hamas from these folks, as if they've forgotten (or don't care) who attacked first. But on election day don't forget where the real danger is coming from and it's not from the Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 52March 29, 2024 6:05 PM

I will do nothing that will weaken President Biden during the 2024 campaign.

Just like Hillary, he is fighting Trump.

He is fighting Putin.

He is fighting Republicans.

Unlike Hillary, he is also fighting Netanyahu, global Artificial Intelligence and disinformation dissemination.

by Anonymousreply 53March 29, 2024 7:31 PM

[quote]It’s either no abortions or forced transitions

Thanks, MAGAt.

You see, the only people who benefit from framing the Democrats'/liberal position as the polar-opposite of the Republican position is, in fact, the Republicans. The whole point of liberal politics is that individual choice is paramount, and while you can work to influence people, you can't be a Republican and force your viewpoint on everyone (that's the "no abortions" portion of your false dichotomy). Perhaps you can point out to me where the Democrats are mandating anyone to transition against their will; we'll wait. In the meantime, I'll point out the numerous cases where Democrats, however, have stated support for people to be who they are with the support of friends, family and community.

Part of why I object to your characterization goes to the reason that your characterization is harmful. We are living through yet another attempt by the rich and powerful to turn us away from the only form of government that works for everyone (and not just the elite ruling class). And authoritarian forms of government are much easier to understand and implement because when you discount the needs of everyone and focus solely on the desires of the wealthy and powerful, the choice becomes clear. To wit, your reasoning (if you are pro-small-d-democracy) should conclude "It's either subjugation or freedom."
