Jon Stewart found to have overvalued his NYC home by 829%

In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million. The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records.

But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property was market-valued at only $1.882 million. The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174.

Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that market value price.

So he's not such a nice guy after all. Geez, did the Kiss of the Spider Woman suck all the life out of him and leave him the crypt keeper? He looks terrible.

by Anonymousreply 1March 27, 2024 6:08 PM

Lock him up ! Lock them all up !

by Anonymousreply 2March 27, 2024 6:10 PM

This from people who clearly have no clue about how ad valorem property taxes are calculated or collected, much less the particulars in NYC.

Yawn.

by Anonymousreply 3March 27, 2024 6:12 PM

R3 what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

by Anonymousreply 4March 27, 2024 6:13 PM

r4/OP - Keep trolling.

by Anonymousreply 5March 27, 2024 6:17 PM

"The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records."

Tells you right there that Emperor OP has no clothes...

by Anonymousreply 6March 27, 2024 6:20 PM

Also OP:

*Principal allegedly hurt & threatened to kill a first-grader with gay parents*

[quote]R10 yes, we live in a black supremacist world now.

by Anonymousreply 7March 27, 2024 6:20 PM

R3 I don’t know how the discrepancy would ever be that big.

by Anonymousreply 8March 27, 2024 6:20 PM

You can sure tell on this thread who has never owned a house before. Jon Stewart didn't value his own property to get a loan or for tax valuation. The county assessor does that. Only the stupids would believe the two are comparable

Guess who the stupids on this thread are

by Anonymousreply 9March 27, 2024 6:21 PM

Because the sale price has nothing to do with the property tax calculation. They are not linked.

by Anonymousreply 10March 27, 2024 6:22 PM

r8 has never owned a house in a rapidly appreciating neighborhood. Too bad

by Anonymousreply 11March 27, 2024 6:23 PM

[quote]Guess who the stupids on this thread are

OP for one.

by Anonymousreply 12March 27, 2024 6:23 PM

^ Bingo!

by Anonymousreply 13March 27, 2024 6:24 PM

If a conservative commits some crime, be assured that within a week or so, a liberal will be accused of doing the same thing.

It's the movement's way of muddying the water - to make those who aren't die-hard MAGA lunatics say "ah they're all like that" and tune out Trump's crimes.

by Anonymousreply 14March 27, 2024 6:25 PM

^ Here's the thing a "liberal" didn't do the same thing. A lying tabloid tried to make it look like the same thing, because the stupids eat that shit up

Don't be a stupid

by Anonymousreply 15March 27, 2024 6:33 PM

If Jon Stewart took out any personal loans and listed that property as an asset there might be a problem. He needs to release all of his financial records.

by Anonymousreply 16March 27, 2024 6:35 PM

^ Oh, look a stupid who doesn't understand how loans work. Any bank who would give a loan against a personal house would do their own assessment

by Anonymousreply 17March 27, 2024 6:39 PM

How do some of you idiots make it through a whole day without walking into walls and falling off cliffs?

by Anonymousreply 18March 27, 2024 6:41 PM

Stewart sold it at the market price available. Trump is welcome to try to sell Mar a Lago for 1 BILLION dollars. He can't put the house up as 1 billion in worth against another loan.

by Anonymousreply 19March 27, 2024 6:41 PM

^ Thank you 😍

by Anonymousreply 20March 27, 2024 6:43 PM

All Repugs do is lie, because that’s all they have. Reality contradicts their philosophy, so they just lie and try to make up an alternative reality

by Anonymousreply 21March 27, 2024 6:45 PM

This is a hit piece because of his calling out the investors on Monday's show.

by Anonymousreply 22March 27, 2024 7:03 PM

^ And it's an embarrassing hit piece, because most normal people understand how real estate works, but people who read the NY Post have never owned anything more than a Ford F-150 and a doublewide

by Anonymousreply 23March 27, 2024 7:07 PM

Zzzzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 24March 27, 2024 7:10 PM

This is what living in San Francisco felt like.

by Anonymousreply 25March 27, 2024 7:11 PM

“… Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million.…”

He sold to a dipshit who didn’t do his homework. tRump overvalued to banks (called fraud).

See, difference.

by Anonymousreply 26March 27, 2024 7:15 PM

NY Post…lol.

by Anonymousreply 27March 27, 2024 7:18 PM

Please join me in FFing OP and his ridiculously biased, mendacious post.

by Anonymousreply 28March 27, 2024 7:20 PM

Hmm, 6200sft in Tribecca actually sounds about right.

My tax district underestimated my last house by a ton.

by Anonymousreply 29March 27, 2024 7:21 PM

^ It's very common for overworked tax assessors to be behind on valuations, but when a house sells, the new owner gets hit, bad

by Anonymousreply 30March 27, 2024 7:25 PM

Isn't this the opposite of Trump's problem? Stewart probably lived in that home for 20 years and made a nice profit when he sold it.

by Anonymousreply 31March 27, 2024 7:26 PM

There's not a planet in the universe where you could buy at 6000+ sq. ft. duplex in Manhattan for $1.8 million. Even if it was gutted it would go for much more than that.

And besides, I'm sure the buyer was savvy enough and had enough savvy real estate people he was working with that he wouldn't have paid what he did if the place wasn't worth that.

by Anonymousreply 32March 27, 2024 7:29 PM

@r31, Exactly, but even more so, Jon Stewart is an individual the Trump Org is a corporation. How they get loans and are taxed are totally different things. The NY Post knows this and is just stirring shit to sell papers

I hope Stewart blasts them out of the water next week

by Anonymousreply 33March 27, 2024 7:30 PM

Well that's it! I will not vote for Jon Stewart for President!

by Anonymousreply 34March 27, 2024 7:30 PM

Asking for as much money as you can get for your property is not a crime. It would be stupid not to.

OP has apparently never seen a property tax bill or been involved in a real estate transaction. He has a MAGAt-level understanding of the simple complexities of life.

OP, go to Truth Social where your idiocy and ignorance will be feted as "genius."

by Anonymousreply 35March 27, 2024 7:36 PM

OP falling on its face spectacularly and getting read for FILTH!

by Anonymousreply 36March 27, 2024 7:56 PM

This is almost painfully idiotic. The article is written by someone with blatant bias and no ability to apply even minimal reasoning skills. Stewart sold his property in the marketplace. Trump lied about his property’s value to get a loan. How can even a C student not see this?

by Anonymousreply 37March 27, 2024 8:01 PM

Is OP even gay? Or just your average straight MAGA shit-stirring fuck.

by Anonymousreply 38March 27, 2024 8:02 PM

So, he's a smart Jew.

by Anonymousreply 39March 27, 2024 8:03 PM

Try Harder MAGA TROLL

The DIFFERENCE is Joh Stwart did NOT INFLATE the square footage by lying to the banks by THREE TIMES THEIR ACTUAL SIZE. It's about about over estimating the value. It's about LYING about actual size of your property.

TRY HARDER TROLL

by Anonymousreply 40March 27, 2024 8:05 PM

@r39, even if he were a dumb Jew he'd be light years smarter than an antisemitic like you 🤨

by Anonymousreply 41March 27, 2024 8:15 PM

yOU show me in what fucking alternative universe a 6000+ sq foot duplex in Tribeca would be valued at 884K? Even in 2014. NYC real estate is and always has been high. Very very high. The poster is trying to do what aboutism. When Stewart sells, he uses a realtor who bases the price on comps in the area. He did not over-inflate the value to get lower interest rates on loans. The text should read JON STEWARD PERFORMS NORMAL REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION THROUGH LICENSED BROKER AND I SOMEHOW WANT IT TO EQUAL WHAT TRUMP IS GUILTY OF.

by Anonymousreply 42March 27, 2024 8:20 PM

STEWART NOT STEWARD....FUCK MY FAT FINGERS WITH JELLY ON THEM.

by Anonymousreply 43March 27, 2024 8:21 PM

The value of a property is what someone is willing to pay for it in an arm’s length transaction.

The value for tax purposes is set by the City and is generally far lower than actual market value.

Nothing here. Stupid.

by Anonymousreply 44March 27, 2024 8:21 PM

Connect the dots….they are threatened by him, clearly lololol.

by Anonymousreply 45March 27, 2024 8:24 PM

Typical Trumpian Trolls, project your actual crimes onto the Democrats or progressive, then whine about how both sides are the same. Ergo whatever Trump did was not that bad. Sorry MAGA trash, we are not playing that stupid game. Both sides ARE NOT THE SAME.

Jon Stewart engaged in the sale of a legal asset to the highest bidder.

Trump LIED about the condo to secure a loan inflating it THREE TIMES the size. That's ILLEGAL.

by Anonymousreply 46March 27, 2024 8:26 PM

I’m actually surprised that even the NY Post would stoop so low. Really appalling.

by Anonymousreply 47March 27, 2024 8:29 PM

IKR, R47? The NY Post typically has such high journalistic standards.

by Anonymousreply 48March 27, 2024 8:30 PM

@r42, But even more important JON STEWART DID NOT VALUE HIS OWN PROPERTY, that's a function of the Nassau County tax assessor. Whoever has a problem with this needs to talk to them

by Anonymousreply 49March 27, 2024 8:33 PM

Nassau?! No.

by Anonymousreply 50March 27, 2024 8:43 PM

Stewart responds:

OMG!! I've been caught doing something not remotely similar to Trump! I guess all I need to do now is start a fraud college, steal classified docs, bankrupt casinos, pay hush money, grab pussies, discriminate in housing, cheat at golf and foment insurrection and you'll revere me!

But he IS a Jew, R41. I didn't call him a Kike, or a Shylock, so fuck off.

Or as the Chosen People say, Shalom.

by Anonymousreply 52March 27, 2024 9:17 PM

R52 you just did, you antisemitic fuck!

by Anonymousreply 53March 27, 2024 9:21 PM

@r52, You called him out for being a Jew which has nothing to do with this thread. You are antisemitic. You're also a dumb hillbilly, but I didn't want to hurt your feels

by Anonymousreply 54March 27, 2024 9:21 PM

What is especially stupid about this article is that it claims what the buyer paid represents Stewart’s overvaluing his home as if the buyer was duped into overpaying, which is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 55March 27, 2024 9:29 PM

Yes.

[quote] This is an article about how Stewart sold his apartment for more than its estimated market value. It is truly, I can say without hesitation, one of the dumbest pieces of published writing I have ever encountered.

This is a classic money laundering tactic. The feds should take a look.

by Anonymousreply 57March 27, 2024 11:33 PM

R57, thanks for demonstrating that you've clearly never owned or sold property

by Anonymousreply 58March 28, 2024 12:00 AM

Selling a house is money laundering? You are a classic numbskull, r57.

by Anonymousreply 59March 28, 2024 12:00 AM

Just like anything else bought and sold, a house is worth what someone will pay for it.

by Anonymousreply 60March 28, 2024 12:44 AM

R40. Good on you!

These Klangrannies/Straight Interlopers/Foreign Shitstirrers are so tiresome.
