It made me cry as a child. And I randomly think about this scene sometimes. Idk why it always stuck with me. I guess I just know if this happened to me I would be broken!
This movie was so good.

Traumatizing a whole generation of children. Thanks for nothing, West Germany!

So did the horse survive?

No, R3, hence the trauma.

That movie was false advertising.

That scene was like my first experience with *depression*.....

The horse comes to life again at the end of the film but it’s pretty grim for a kid’s film. I always loved this film, I think it inspired me to write some fantasy novels. The sequels were not great though, to put it mildly.

The author of the book hated the film so much that he had his name removed from the credits.
He especially hated the bare breasted statue things.

I always wondered how they managed to sneak bare breasts into a kid’s film, not once but twice. There must have been a fair amount of immature sniggering in the film theatres among kids and embarrassment among parents.

It didn’t depress me but did break my heart.
