This flick was a disappointment to me. Hayward's drunk scenes were so hammy. I did like the song that made her husband famous.

Sorry not to be a more penetrating critic.

Better or worse than The Lost Weekend?

She has a catfight with Marsha Hunt.

The poster is better than the film.

I prefer Susan of the 1940s to the Susan of the 1950s. She was softer.

For those who are not aware, Susan Hayward died of brain cancer.

Oopa! Soerry Marsha!

by Anonymousreply 11March 26, 2024 7:11 PM

The catfight is the highlight of the movie.

Or should I ask my husband….

by Anonymousreply 14March 27, 2024 12:50 AM

Loretta Young said she voted for Hayward for the Oscar for this (Young won that year—the money was on Rosalind Russell for the turgid “Mourning Becomes Electra”)

by Anonymousreply 15March 27, 2024 12:53 AM

When I interviewed Marsha and she turned on me I should have done the catfight attack like Susan.
