Hollywood actor Ron Harper, known for his role in the Planet of the Apes TV series, has sadly passed away at the age of 91.
He died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, according to his daughter.
Harper was famous for his role in the TV series, Planet of the Apes, based on the classic Charlton Heston movie.

I had such a crush on James Naughton when he was on this show. That's when I knew I was gay at 11 years old - getting an erection every time I saw him on television. I had the pleasure to meet him when he was on Broadway in 'City of Angels' and he greeted fans at the stage door back in 1989. My heart fluttered when he smiled at me and shook my hand. I wanted to tell him I used to get erections watching him on TV, but that would've been embarrassing - for either him or me. Not sure which one.
His son (also an actor) is married to Kelli O'Hara.

I had a similar situation with James Naughton, R2 -Only I met him backstage at Chicago. And I told him about my childhood crush. He was really sweet -smiled and gave me a quick hug and thanked me. A real class act.

I balked as a child when they unceremoniously dumped the Dad from “Land of the Lost”, but was confused by my less than hostile reaction to Uncle Jack. I thought he was gorgeous. Then on Planet of the Apes, too. Shees. He should have at least gone on to play one of the Golden Girls dates or something.

Ron and I write to each other and he is a very private person. I have loved him for over 50 years yet have never gotten to meet him. It is an honor to receive mail from him. He is a great actor and a fine gentlemen.
