R1 19 years later and I still think Swank beating Bening TWICE is one of the funniest things ever! 😂
Especially since Bening was favored to win both times.
The first time because AMERICAN BEAUTY also won Picture, Director, Actor, and Screenplay and was among the Top 10 grossers of the year.
And the second time for BEING JULIA as a makeup/overdue award.
