Buy Apple products - I have stock in the company!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 10, 2024 8:53 PM |
R3 I know you’re joking but just to clarify, this is a show on Peacock, Sony owned.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 10, 2024 8:55 PM |
OH - wow, I wasn't. I picked up Apple from the title.
Still, buy Apple products! YAY APPLE!!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 10, 2024 8:57 PM |
The book is good.
Alison Brie plays one of the daughters. This could be very good.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 10, 2024 9:24 PM |
I’ve never liked her r6 but I think this looks good. It’s a good cast.

by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 10, 2024 9:31 PM |
What's it about?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 10, 2024 9:38 PM |
I thought she was about 90.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 10, 2024 9:43 PM |
The book was terrible. Worst ending of any book I've ever read.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 10, 2024 10:20 PM |
It looks grim and glum-inducing, like so much prestige shit that gets churned out for ladies these days.
I’d like to suck Jake Lacy’s nutsack, though.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 10, 2024 10:34 PM |
R12 it doesn’t look dreary
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 10, 2024 10:55 PM |
I thought Sam Neill was terminally ill or some terrible progressive disease?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 10, 2024 11:14 PM |
Damn. Lately, it seems like Annette Bening is never going to take a break and that's fine with me. Will watch anything she decides to do. Almost wanted to say that she's like a fine wine who improves with age, but she's been brilliant since "The Grifters".
"Big Little Lies" was right up there with "Six Feet Under," "The Sopranos," and "Only Murders In The Building". Looking forward to this.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 10, 2024 11:47 PM |
It debuts Thursday
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 12, 2024 3:38 AM |
Gurl, there's so much TV I'm behind on, how the hell am I going to find the time to watch this as well? Which of course I will because I'm a sucker for BLL-like shows.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 12, 2024 4:22 AM |
Any gay characters?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 12, 2024 5:31 AM |
Hopefully Jake Lacy's character is eating some D on the side.

[quote] I thought Sam Neill was terminally ill or some terrible progressive disease?
He requires twice monthly injections for his rare cancer.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 12, 2024 5:48 AM |
It’s out now. Episode 1 is.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 14, 2024 8:01 PM |
Most of the reviews haven't been very good. Will be curious what DL thinks.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 14, 2024 8:05 PM |
The book is both a character study and a mystery. That could either work brilliantly or fail miserably on screen.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 14, 2024 10:08 PM |
I’ve watched the first two episodes, and I hope it turns out the dad is a serial killer and takes out all his annoying kids.
Pros Bening, Neill, Lacy, and Brie are fine, but the rest of actors are terrible. The woman playing the detective is particularly awful.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 15, 2024 3:36 AM |
I love Jake Lacy. I wish he was one of us.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 15, 2024 6:27 AM |
I don’t care about Jake Lacy. He can only really play one character well.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 15, 2024 2:07 PM |
r18, there are a pair of Lickety Lezbians!
Saw the first two episodes last night. Not sure why they put out two in a row, but I will continue watching this series.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 15, 2024 6:57 PM |
They didn’t put out two in a row. They put out all 7.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 15, 2024 10:48 PM |
Doh! r29, thank you for that. I'm just a senile Boomer who can barely operate the remote. Will be binging all night.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 16, 2024 1:15 AM |
R30 no. You aren’t. Retard.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 16, 2024 1:15 AM |
Beware, boys, just an FYI, there is a significant of LEZbianizm in this series. No man-on-man love, so far. But who knows? Many plot twists ensue. I just care about Annette.
Am loving this series.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 16, 2024 6:40 AM |
R32 Beware? We are adults watching a series. This isn’t a porn. I don’t need gay men in it to enjoy it and I don’t have a problem with lesbians.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 16, 2024 6:41 AM |
Peacock is owned by NBC Universal, R4.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 16, 2024 8:15 AM |
Just finished. Wow. That was a great story. The cast were all superb. The actress who played the new agey daughter is a standout. I can see why Annette chose to do this project and I hope she takes on similarly good ones to share with us. Annette (I get to call her by her first name because we went to the same Uni so, we're practically twins) and Hot Kiwi Daddy Sam Neil deserve Emmy noms.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 17, 2024 3:59 AM |
Love a good limited series. I feel like I have completed a task and a fun pursuit when I get through one.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 17, 2024 4:23 AM |
I hated it.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 17, 2024 4:30 AM |
I just watched the first episode. The show is poorly produced network-quality crap. It’s a mediocre NBC drama posing as prestige television, complete with sound effect “stings” to punctuate the end of each scene before fading out. They clearly blew their entire casting budget on Annette, Sam, Allison Brie and Jake Lacy because the rest of the actors are unknowns who probably did the show for scale.
I feel bad for Annette because no doubt her team sold her the project as “the next Big Little Lies!” Except that the magic of Big Little Lies was Jean-Marc Vallee, David E. Kelly and HBO, not Liane Moriarty. You can’t replicate that magic with a first-time showrunner, second-rate TV directors and Peacock. Annette deserves better!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 17, 2024 8:16 AM |
I think I know why so many of the actors others than the Big Four are so awful. They are mostly all Australians and are concentrating on trying to sound convincingly American!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 17, 2024 9:13 AM |
I'll always love Annette B b/c of "Being Julia". That was a lifetime of fabulosity in one performance.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 17, 2024 11:04 AM |
Annette is amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 20, 2024 11:27 AM |
Given the stupidity of inviting obvious grifter Savannah into their lives, I’m struggling to get past episode one. And I’m struggling with the performances beyond Bening, Neill, Lacey and Brie. Shitty accents and bad Australian actors all over the damn place.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 20, 2024 12:02 PM |
The book wasn’t very good, the ending was just a big misunderstanding? Full on crap.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 20, 2024 6:00 PM |
r42, my partner felt the same way about "the obvious grifter" in episode one". Episode two makes it clear that most everyone in the family -- and the entire town also agree. In episode one, it does look like a stupid, incredulous plot ploy. The story gets better and better with each episode, and I think that the final episode is the biggest pay off of any series I've seen in years. Stay tuned and pay attention.
r43 is full of "full on crap".

The parents weren't bad enough to justify all the whining the adult children engaged in. Boo hoo Sam Neil shouted at you when you were a teenager. You're 40. Get over it. It felt like a network executive saw how much money Succession made and tried to copy the "dysfunctional adult children" formula without taking any creative risks or spending a lot of money. Bland, toothless bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 21, 2024 1:32 AM |
R45 this is based off a book…
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 21, 2024 1:33 AM |
That doesn't excuse anything, r46. They could have taken creative liberties and made something better than the book.................
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 21, 2024 1:37 AM |
R47 lmao. So not an adaptation of the book? What a stupid thing to say. Comparing it to Succession is ridiculous when it existed before Succession.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 21, 2024 1:43 AM |
I watched the entire thing. The ending and big reveal were very Lifetime movie. I was disappointed. As for Lacy - he isn’t very good. He always looks like he doesn’t know what to do with his mouth. Reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld. And his scene where he confronts his Father on the tennis court after the hurricane was poorly acted. Bening was okay in a not demanding role. How did they make her look so young in the ‘then’ scenes? And the actor who played Lacy’s younger self was the hottest in the cast. Lastly, I love Katrina Lenk and glad she is getting work in LA.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 21, 2024 9:34 PM |
Give Annette the Oscar. I don't care if the series is on TV.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 27, 2024 1:32 AM |
I made it though the first seven minutes. Seems like I gave it all the time it was worth.
BTW, I didn't like "Big Little Lies" either.

Thank you, R54!! That's one of my pet peeves, along with "step foot." It's SET foot, for chrissakes!

How is Sam Neill looking these days?
