Oscar-nominated actress Sandra Hüller

Is she just the German Rachel Griffiths, or is there more to her?

For those of you who've seen [italic]Anatomy of a Fall[/italic] and [italic]The Zone of Interest[/italic], is she really all that?

I like her a lot. Before her two performances this year, I only knew her from from "Toni Erdmann," which is a wonderful movie.

The New Yorker had a good profile of her, a few months ago.

Her face is…unusual.

by Anonymousreply 2January 23, 2024 4:36 PM

We're shocked? About who? M'kay. Thanks for letting us know.

by Anonymousreply 3January 23, 2024 4:38 PM

The two movies she stars in are both shocking, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 4January 23, 2024 4:41 PM

She's the new darling of European cinema

{WHET Marion Cottilard?)

by Anonymousreply 5January 23, 2024 4:54 PM

I just watched Anatomy of a Fall. It was alright. She is weird looking and her kid with the bowl cut and the turtlenecks was too. She was fine, I don't think that movie took a lot of range, though. She's no Glenn!

Hey, that's me!

She reminds me of John Cameron Mitchell.

r8 Yes, omg, I was racking my brain, trying to figure out which male celeb she looked like, and he's the one.

by Anonymousreply 9January 23, 2024 7:56 PM

She has an interesting very unfeminine walk in “Zone.” Her character is a monster.

by Anonymousreply 10February 10, 2024 11:02 PM

I hope she smells better than Rachel Griffith.

by Anonymousreply 11February 10, 2024 11:06 PM

I love her

by Anonymousreply 12February 10, 2024 11:06 PM

R10. Even worse is her hair in that movie—talk about a crime against humanity! (Her performance is chilling.)

by Anonymousreply 13February 10, 2024 11:09 PM

Her hair was a nightmare unto itself in ZoI.

R5, Marion Cottilard is a terrible actress. I have never seen Piaf but granting she was good in that she is a one trick pony.

by Anonymousreply 15February 12, 2024 10:37 AM

R15 She is pretty - I will give her that.

by Anonymousreply 16February 12, 2024 11:56 AM

Me too R12. She’s a brilliant actress. On par with Cotillard. She should be winning the Oscar this year. It’s a shame it will go to that total nothing in that awful Scorsese mess, or even worse, that repulsive piece of crap where we have to look at Emma Stone’s merkin for two hours.

I have now seen both movies and think she is phenomenal, completely different performances. If I had to choose I would have her being nominated and winning for The Zone of Interest in supporting. She is wonderful in Anatomy, but given the role , other actresses could have done it too, but what she does In The zone of Interest is unique.

Dare we say Sandra in the film was YOUR zone of interest?

A Very Long Engagement, La Vie En Rose, Rust And Bone, 2 Days and 1 Night,

by Anonymousreply 21February 27, 2024 9:31 AM

Cotillard is a brilliant actress. One of the greatest. I didn’t even bother to respond to that idiot above. They know nothing about her.

by Anonymousreply 22February 27, 2024 11:13 AM

Is Sandra Hüller a lesbian?

by Anonymousreply 23February 27, 2024 11:38 AM

This is Tom Hollands face when he is 40

by Anonymousreply 24February 27, 2024 11:42 AM

She was amazing in Zone of Interest.

by Anonymousreply 25February 27, 2024 11:42 AM

....as the Nazi hausfrau who looks the other way when her husband does a little Holocaust on the side. Honestly, so relatable.

[quote] Is she just the German Rachel Griffiths, or is there more to her?

Being the German Rachel Griffiths would be no insult. Griffiths is great.

by Anonymousreply 27February 27, 2024 12:07 PM

A poor man’s Cate Blanchett.

by Anonymousreply 28February 27, 2024 12:39 PM

There is no comparison between her and Rachel Griffiths.

by Anonymousreply 29February 28, 2024 12:36 PM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 30April 14, 2024 8:32 PM

r29 They are literally the same person, facially.

by Anonymousreply 31April 15, 2024 4:31 AM

She looks like a mixture of Rachel Griffiths and Kirsten Dunst (Dunst’s father is also from Germany). She is a great actress. Her performance in The Zone of Interest floored me.

by Anonymousreply 32April 15, 2024 9:52 AM

Brilliant actress. She's gonna be huge.

by Anonymousreply 33April 15, 2024 6:46 PM

See her next in the Austrian-German Rose where Sandra plays a woman in the early 17th century, who is disguised as a man and wants to be a good citizen at any cost.
