Dr. Jane Goodall

A naturalist, when she was 26 she traveled to Africa to fulfill a lifelong dream and study animals. At a place called Gombe on the shores of Lake Tanganyika she dreams became reality. From her observation of the chimpanzees who lived there came the realization of how close we humans are to our animal ancestors, and life devoted to man's relationship with the planet he inhabits. Her critics have called her anthropomorphic, unscientific, but she is unrepented.

"I have tried to assuage some of the guilt we all must feel for our inhumanity to man and beat alike, and I will go on trying until the end."

Let's discuss Dr. Jane Goodall.

Kind, intelligent, sophisticated. She can get down and dirty with animals in Africa then clean up in time for the opera.

A true class act.

R10 she should be her, and beat should be beast. Typo on my end. I'm sorry.

Sigourney's movie made a saint out of her in the public's eyes but she's nuts. The lady years ago went over the edge with the apes specifically and animals generally. They're not people.

You’re thinking of Dian Fossey and gorillas.

These animals need protection and to protect them you need to know of them. How can one not be somehow attached when one’s life is dedicated to studying and becoming close to them for years?

by Anonymousreply 13January 3, 2024 3:14 AM

R12 That was Dian Fossey
