from that horrible Freeper site: Also, Todd Palin was technically not Sarah’s first or maybe I should say her only Dude. The press or a blog mentioned a former boyfriend of hers by the name of Scott Richter. There could, I suppose, be another scandal brewing relative to him and his ex-wife, Debbie as well. It all depends how far back the liberals want to dig. 269 posted on Tuesday, September 02, 2008 4:24:33 PM by An American In Dairyland (BTW, I am a woman The Palins also have a number of real estate holdings in Big Lake, AK co-owned by Debbie and Scott Richter. The properties are organied as “Richter Investments LLC.” The Richters also own a portion of the Palins residence in Wasila… (Assuming the Palins live rent free right now in the Governors’ Mansion in Juneau). Interestingly, Debbie Richter was Palin’s campaign treasurer. Richter was awarded a job as the Director of the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Division for her service. For those who don’t know, the State of Alaska gives its citizens “free money” checks every year out of this fund. This “free money” comes from oil royalties collected and investments. The Fund is currently worth $35 billion. Would you choose the Governor’s campaign treasurer - and property co-owner - to honestly hand out oil royalties? Under her leadership in 2006, all Permanent Fund claims from residents (you have to make a claim for your check) were lost in a computer data entry failure…

r8/9, this lesbo Anchorage lawyer disclaims all responsibility for Sarah Palin. I wouldn't wish her on anyone else. Do people care about the fact that she supports aerial hunting of wolves and bears and wants to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, which would have the likely effect of ensuring they're extinct in our lifetimes? This after she picked the bear design for our state quarter. It seems like that's something that people down there *might* care about. The braindead nitwits up here don't.

More gossip from Alaska: There is no such state policy. Even if there were, Debbie Richter was not Bitney's co-worker. He worked in the Governor's Office in the Capitol Building and she works in the Dept. of Revenue in another office building. This was not a matter of any state policy being breached. This is an incident right out of high school--"You're seeing my ex-girlfriend and me and my gang will get you." The Palins decided to go after Bitney because Scott Richter, Todd's friend and Sarah's ex-boyfriend asked them to. Richter is also a business partner with the Palins in investment property in the Mat-Su Valley. The Palins and Scott Richter would not let it go after John Bitney was hired by Rep. Harris. Richter wanted him fired from his new job and the Palins tried to apply pressure to make this happen. They underestimated Rep. Harris who is tough and honorable--qualities foreign to the Palins. This tawdry affair should sicken Alaskans who care about their State. We elected an individual with no moral compass, no education, no background, no experience, just a blinding need to be the most popular girl in school. "Cute" can only take you so far then the veneer starts to peel.

People actually have this a bit backwards. It's not rumored that Palin had an affair with the partner. Rather the wife of the partner had an affair with one of Palin's staffers and Todd had him fired. Those are the divorce records in question.

More local Alaska gossip: this is from a blogger on the Frontiersman and I thought it perfectly descibed Miss Sarah: "I have known Sarah as long as many who have see her in action as mayor. It is disturbing that over the years her behavior and reaction to trouble and crisis is the same..... (1)FIRST, make yourself a savior and reformer (2) NEXT, bully and control those who do not comply (3) LASTLY, cry "victim" and deflect blame to other people when caught in a lie." Folks...that pretty much sums Sarah up---think back over the last year and a half---she reacts this very same way every time someone pressures her. Classic. Seems like some sort of character flaw. She really should resign...this really is not going to get any better for any of us as she will just never, ever admit even to a tiny mistake. Remember what her dad said about her in the new "Sarah" book...regarding her STUBBORN streak and that once she made up her mind, NO ONE could get her to change her mind.

Per the link below, this does not have to do with Sarah Palin having an affair. Allegedly, the wife involved in the divorce, Debbie Richter, had an affair with a man who worked for Sarah Palin. That man then went to work elsewhere, and the Todd Palin attempted to get him fired, as payback for breaking up the Richters' marriage.

"he should have filed this last Thursday if he didn't want anyone to see it." That's the whole point. He was no doubt paid (thank you!) by the Enquirer for EXCLUSIVE rights to his story. If other news organizations get access to his divorce records, the facts of the story, and especially that document will be leaked before the Enquirer's exclusive...so he could lose his $100,000 paycheck.

Hopefully it will become a fact, but right now it's just speculation. However one has to wonder why he sealed the records NOW, if there is no Palin involvement, directly or indirectly.

He tried to seal the file, r45. He wasn't successful and would not likely have been successful unless there was a lot of embarrassing information in there about the kids. I've gotten domestic cases sealed *only* when there was something big and nasty going on during the case, like allegations of sexual abuse.

Most likely because he didn't want a million reporters looking through a file that contains his personal info, including detailed records of their assets, tax records, their kids' names, etc. Doing a dissolution here is a pain in the ass because of the level of detail you have to get into.

Shove it r53. Don't insult me. I'm the only one posting on this thread who has actually voted against Sarah Palin. (Until Alaska Girl shows up.) I've posted more this week than I have in about 6 years on DL because of this crap and wasted a huge amount of time here because I'm thoroughly horrified. I'm probably also alone here in having filed a few Alaska dissolutions. I know what's in them. But you can see for yourself at the link. If I represented either of these people, I would have filed a motion to seal as well. It would not have been successful. But I would have tried because of the real danger of identity theft, not for the likely nonexistent dirt. Again, if there was anything juicy in there, they would have had a divorce, not a dissolution.

No, this is in connection to the "affair" that may "ruin her career." There are two stories floating: 1) Sarah Palin had an affair with Todd's business partner or 2) Todd's business partner's wife had an affair with Todd's underling, who then had him fired for breaking up the business partner's marriage. They really are that horrible, vindictive family we all grew up with, aren't they?
