Alanis And The Pope
The faces of Vatican cardinals were left as red after realizing Alanis Morissette had understood every word they'd said about her after she met the pope. The singer met the pontiff in Rome in 2000, but some French clergymen ruined the magical experience. Morissette says the problems occurred as she left the stage after meeting the pope, and did not know whether to walk in front of cardinals or not. She explains, "I'm post-Catholic; I don't know how it works anymore, so there was this awkward moment and I walked in front of them. "They were all French and they were speaking about me behind me, saying how rude and horrible I was. "I speak French, so I bit my tongue the whole way out and they were just ripping me apart, and then right at the tail end. ... I just turned back and spoke to them in French and said, 'Thank you so much for your kindness.'" (sfgate.com)

Kathy Griffin, no contest. She would keep you laughing all the time, plus she seems rather sweet and considerate in person.

Most of the posters on this thread do their shopping at the Kwik-Stop in Obsolete Stereotypeville, Alabama, in 1978. This week's specials: T-bones for the men, Hungry Man dinners for the poor unfortunates with the working wives, cottage cheese for the ladies, grape kool-aid 3/.99, and KY in the metal tube for your bachelor uncle. Best prices in town!

"The large majority of people are religious, are you asserting that the vast majority of people are irrational?" Yes. About that, they are. There is no need for the supernatural to explain anything. It's a ridiculous anachronism. See "God Is Not Great" or "The God Delusion" or "Letter to a Christian Nation"...

My, my. Maybe there is such a thing as too much of a good thing! Note for R7: in the school district where I taught, it is a no-no. You could dare the principal to challenge you, but the school board would fire you and they'd win your suit against them in court. Many large companies forbid all sexually explicit (or suggestive), political, religious, or even shopping sites and have software patrolling for it. My present company is heavily involved in internet delivery of services in a very high level of security. Any personal use is considered an abuse of the band width.

I am the problem because I pay for adequate insurance? Because I save over half my take home income and live far beneath my means? Would I be a better person if I charged up my credit cards with useless crap, took out a mortgage I couldn't afford, a HELOC on top of it, ran through my equity, cried about predatory lenders and credit card fees, and demanded someone help save me from my own decisions?

RE: Ottawa Woman Upset Because Her Ferret is Banned from Buses

Transit company pulls a reverse ferret A disgruntled transit rider is fighting to have her pet ferret's bus pass reinstated. Frances Woodard, 54, suffers from agoraphobia, anxiety and panic attacks that make it extremely difficult for her to go out in public -- unless she's with her 3-year-old albino ferret, Gyno (pronounced Gino). But OC Transpo, Ottawa's public transit authority, took Gyno's pass away in April. "He grounds me. It's like he senses I'm going into a panic, and the petting and stroking calms me down. It gives me something to focus on other than the panic," she said. Last fall, Woodard said, she bought the proper pass to allow her to take a ferret on public transit as a working animal. She still has the plastic transit pass bearing a picture of her holding up her ferret next to a green box that reads "Assist - Customer entitled to a service animal." "It gave me such a change. A feeling of freedom," she said of the time she was allowed to take Gyno on the bus. However, for reasons s (More Inside)

**OFFICIAL** DINNER THEATER MEMORIES/GOSSIP/DISH THREAD!!!
In 1973 I worked at the Chateau DeVille dinner theater chain in Massachusetts and Rhode Island in THE SOUND OF MUSIC starring Erik (Eric cigars commercials) Silju as Georg. Dean Dittman (Max) was a perv who hung around backstage in his underwear, hoping to attract some male attention. At the same time we were performing in Framingham, Mass. Betty Hutton was doing ANYTHING GOES at the Warwick, R.I. theater having a nervous breakdown onstage, leading her to a rectory nearby for many years. Any other stories?
