I've watched some L word clips on youtube (I've never seen a single episode on TV), which is mostly sex scenes, and I have to admit she is hot (maybe because she's my type). She is not a very good actress, and that's painfully obvious in dramatic scenes. I suppose she doesn't carry all the blame. The writing is lame, and I imagine none of those directors know how to work with actors or spend much time rehearsing. Beals is better when she's paired with a good actor (like Matlin), and not so good when paired with an even worse actor (the woman who plays her blond girlfriend).
