Thanks, R11. I always thought he had a great voice, albeit, over controlled by others. I lost track and haven''t listened to him for a few years.%0D\
I''ll look it up.
Never really paid attention to him until he tried to be Kelly's co-host (and should have won). But he's all over this week promoting his new record and I gotta say I'm crushing on it. I bought his new single called "Brave". It's a big production like Jim Steinman used to do.
He has announced that he is retiring from the music industry to focus 100% on his first passion.
To be the lead in a big Broadway musical.
If he has to give up his music career to be a Broadway star, so be it.
Yes, OP, he's gay.
Technically true, R9, perhaps, but this is a more accurate description of his ethnicity (pulled from the same article, btw; thanks).
[quote]Groban's father was born Jewish, and is a descendant of Russian and Polish immigrants; he converted from Judaism to Christianity when marrying Groban's mother. Groban's mother's ancestry includes Norwegian (from Toten), German, and English; one of her own grandfathers had been Jewish.
Can't stand his music but I always thought he was cute.
He's gotten a lot of snatch.
He wants to bring "Chess" back to Broadway. He did a concert version and sang the shit out of it. Of course tired old theater queens will bitch because he wasn't born in Shubert Ally and educated at Julliard.
As a teen he talked about "coming out of the closet as yourself." Do straight kids talk that way?
Groban dated actress January Jones from 2003 to 2006. After that relationship ended, he moved his primary residence to New York City, where he indicates that "dating can be very easy or very tough."
OMG, he's a "Chess" queen! Can't say that makes him gay for sure but he would have fit in perfectly with all the theater fags at my college (including myself here.)
Would love to see "Chess" revived on Broadway and Groban makes a perfect Anatoly. Just please, God, don't let Idina Menzel anywhere near the role of Florence. I loved her in "Wicked" but she's dreadful in "Chess In Concert." Actually, she'd probably be good as Svetlana singing "Someone Else's Story" but probably wouldn't want the smaller supporting role.
R13, that's good but I'd love for him to actually collaborate with Jim Steinman on some balls-to-the-wall power pop song. It's been too long since we've had a Steinman power ballad on the charts.
I doubt he is gay; he has been spotted hanging out with Joshua Bell at bars in the meatpacking district.
[quote]He said on Elvis Duran last week that he's half-Jewish, "the bottom half."
By which I think he was trying to indicate he's circumcised.
r29 [quote]hanging out with Joshua Bell
Are they lovers?
His surname is terrible. In the old days they would have made him change it.
I have tickets to see Josh Groban at the Hollywood Bowl on July 4th.
r33 Fuck you, bitch. Josh is mine!
I don't think Josh pings in the least. He isn't the butchest dude on the block, but he doesn't strike me as gay. He strikes me as Canadian.
Don't care care much for the music (even prefer Buble) but wouldn't mind seeing him live for his voice.
In contrast to his square image, he has an awesome personality and is very quick and funny so one of his concerts would be better than you'd think.
He has das Juden blood in him! Actually his parents converted to Christianity.
Josh was in his first year at Carnegie-Mellon, majoring in Musical Theater. He got a record deal that he couldn't refuse and left the program. Before he did, he informed his good friend Rory O'Malley, who was majoring in acting at CMU. Rory auditioned for Josh's spot and got it.
I think he's an amazing talent - one of the voices of the century, however his musical arrangements are all like funeral marches. Other than enjoying his vocal gymnastics in the pieces, I really don't enjoy his music. I'll give a listen to his new stuff just in case he broke the mold. Even his Christmas CD was the among the most cheerless music I have heard. IMHO.
r33, let us now if he got a haircut for the Hollywood Bowl performance.
Josh is kinda cute, nd sweet, but I feel like he's basically ambitious and full of himself. Anyone agree?
I want to shower his body with kisses.
ITA w/ R44. Groban has an amazing set of pipes, yet I hate his music.
Michael Buble has an inferior instrument, but great material, so I love to listen to him.
