God, she got old, didn't she?
Happens.
I saw her a few years ago live. She was an old broad and she wasn't trying to deny or conceal her age. Still kicked it.
That said she could be bloated from cancer meds.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 6, 2010 2:04 AM |
Is she sick with cancer?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 6, 2010 2:07 AM |
I think she looks pretty damn good for an almost 65 year old broad who was drugged out of her mind for many of her younger years.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 6, 2010 2:10 AM |
A hint for the likes of Jennifer Aniston and other chain smoking actors: she is your future.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 6, 2010 2:16 AM |
She went public with a cancer diagnosis a few years ago r2, I think she cancelled some tour dates due to treatment. I'm not sure how serious it was or what her prognosis was.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 6, 2010 2:29 AM |
Beats the alternative.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 6, 2010 2:37 AM |
Well, she is old and was a heroin addict for several years and lived on the street. All things considered, she doesn't look too bad. Sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 6, 2010 2:46 AM |
Go through what she went through, live to her age, and see what YOU like, kiddo.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 6, 2010 2:47 AM |
It's amazing she's even lived this long. Never mind what she looks like, she's a survivor.

Good heavens, she's built like a little house now.
Time to reconsider the heroin, Marianne...
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 6, 2010 3:27 AM |
She looks damn good for 64, considering her history. Everybody gets old, there's nothing we can do about it.

She was very good in the film "Irina Palm", very moving. A grandmother who wanks men in a Soho sex club to pay for her sick grandson's treatment in Australie.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 6, 2010 4:10 AM |
There's nothing wrong with the way she looks, she's in her 60s. And it beats the hell out of being on heroin.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 6, 2010 4:12 AM |
Queer teens are harassed and murdered and driven to suicide every day because of your contempt for women.
Stop the violence.

R16, why are queer teens attempting suicide if it's WOMEN who are despised?%0D It's not logical?

English people usually don't have the vanity about aging that Americans do. There seems to be an acceptance that one's looks are going to change and that youthful glamour should be left for the young.
As an American living here, I really like this about the culture. Many of the older people I've met here have been amazingly hearty and spry. They don't ever seem to stop occupying themselves with things to do and they are full of stamina. I think that partly has to do with the general acceptance of age here. They don't feel so marginalized or washed up and so they can cheerfully go about their business. It looks like Marianne Faithful is aging in this manner and good for her.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 6, 2010 10:11 AM |
Agreed with the above posters--considering what she's been through and how she horribly abused her body with coke, heroin, etc., it's a miracle she's still here to tell her story and to continue to make music.
And she looks a helluva lot better than Anita Pallenberg!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 6, 2010 11:40 AM |
Can't believe people took that blowzy boozebag seriously as a singer, she has no voice whatsoever.

Saw her a few years ago in concert in LA. She was pretty awesome. Certainly more edgy and interesting than Jagger.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 11, 2010 3:23 PM |
my fave story about her, she was being interviewed by a vj who had been in the Children of the Damned movie, when he mentioned it she walked out of the interview saying "I simply cannot be interviewed by one of the actors from children of the damned".
she's pretty nutty.

"Marianne has soul!"%0D %0D Maybe. But she doesn't have a VOICE. Her singing voice, which was not that great anyway, is destroyed. She doesn't sing, she croaks. "Completely vulgarized" is how one critic described it. %0D %0D She's pretty stuck up for somebody who was a junkie who used to pass out face down into her food. An interviewer mentioned that she was promiscuous back in her glory days as Mick Jagger's Girlfriend; she was quite offended. Why the hell should she have been offended? She WAS promiscuous, a druggie, bi-sexual slut. %0D %0D She's always been pretentious. She was the daughter of a Baroness, after all, one of the "upper crust." She still thinks of herself that way, even after all the years of being a junkie. I find her unbearable.

I read a feature on Marianne a few years ago, which was quite odd. It seems she was (maybe still is) in a relationship with her French manager, and throughout the feature, the interviewer picked up on a lot of unpleasant arguing between the two of them, but only later found out the manager was Marianne's boyfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 25, 2014 11:58 AM |
She may have objected the comment about her being "promiscuous" back in the day simply because it would have never have been said to the males of the era - Jagger, etc. Never would have been said to them and would be understood as a good thing. Maybe she was sick of the double standard, one that would have been glaringly obvious to one who had lived through it.

Every time I see your dick I see her cunt in my bed The whole room was swirling, Her lips were still curling
Why'd ya do it, she said, why'd you do what you did Why'd ya do it, she said, why'd you do what you did Why'd ya do it, she said, why'd ya do it, she said, WHY'D YOU DO WHAT YOU DID?
Oh, big grey mother, I love you forever With your barbed wire pussy and your good and bad weather

Here's the performance from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, 10 December 1968. "Sister Morphine" was her new single, "Something Better" was the B side. It was thought to be a bit of a more cheerful choice to perform than the A side.
