What''s the talk about her? Her reputation?%0D\
I somehow can''t imagine her being extremely nice but I''ve never heard any stories about %0D\
The only thing I know is that a lot of lesbians fancy her.
Heard she''s a doll.
She was born Natalie Hershlag.
i think she''s jewish. i know she was born in jerusalem.
When I worked in a bookstore in a flyover city in the late 90s, she came in asking for a particular novel that was the basis for whatever her current movie was (the one about the girl who lived in a Walmart? Who can remember?). %0D\
It was a very strange transaction: she didn''t mention that she was in the film of the novel nor pull any of the "Do you know who I am?" crap. It wasn''t even clear what the hell she was doing in my city. She didn''t buy the book after all; she appeared just to want to know if it was in stock. She was incredibly sweet and shy and obviously quite smart.
Didn''t she go to Columbia?
From what I remember, a big part of the reason she changed her name was so that she could continue going to public school in Plainview on Long Island without being stalked by the press there.\
Though most Long Islanders knew anyway.
No, r5. It was Harvard.
That''s right: when she was a minor, her real name and hometown were never made public. She wanted to live a relatively normal life at home without the glare of publicity.
I''ve heard she''s fairly racist, but it''s more likely that she''s only slightly bigoted....like most Long Islanders :)\
Aaron Sorkin consulted with her while writing the script for "The Social Network" (she went to Harvard and she reached out to him so that he could set the proper tone).
I wish she were secretly gay.
"Sensual Star Wars\
babe Natalie Portman has feelings for other women. The stunning actress who plays Senator Amildala in Attack Of The Clones announced that, although she has never explored her lesbian fantasies, she would not rule it out. The sexy stunner, who once dated Moby, claimed that although her personality is more compatible with men she wouldn''t want to close herself off to girl only action. She says, "I''ve never dated a woman or anything like it. But I think it''s much more the person that you fall in love with and why would you close yourself off to 50-per-cent of people?"\
And I remember one of the first interviews I read with her when she was an adult she said something like "I hope to meet the right man or woman one day" - she was that frank about it. I just tried to find the quote, but couldn''t, but that''s pretty much exactly what it said. It was years ago, though.
At the beginning of her adult career, she was famous for her dumb remark about "feeling black" and being able to relate to the African-American experience or some such bs. I think she actually wrote a letter of apology which appeared in the magazine she was quoted from.\
As an adult actress, I can take her or leave her. She is any more remarkable than any of the other "serious" actresses out there. Yawn.
r6 Why the fuck would the press stalk her?\
She is not a star. She is a working actress. She is no Julia Roberts.
One of her first major roles as a minor was in a film with Lolita like overtones to it.
Yes, she played Mathilda in The Professional when she was twelve or thirteen. Her whole family was gunned down by drug dealers, so she had the hitman down the hall train her to become an assassin.\
Awesome movie, but seriously fucked up.\
And probably got her a lot of attention from some not-so-savory people.
They''re not blondes. I dunno if anyone cares to pay fro Mila/Portman
Madonna & Britney.
Yes, R24. That was hilarious!\
I couldn''t believe how terrible she was in that movie.\
That parts that were supposed to be so heartbreaking actually had we in stitches. For a while after, all I to do was think about that scene where she walks out of the prison and I would bust out laughing.
The director and cast of Black Swan, including Portman, appeared for a screening of the film at The Arclight in Hollywood (or Landmark, can't remember which). She was gorgeous. I don't often use the adjective "radiant," but it applies to her.
She looks better with some meat on her bones.
The problem with Portman having more weight R40 is that it all goes to two places. Her ass and thighs.
she's a.... well....you know....
R41- Her ass looks good full.
Her plump rump definitely fills out a pair of slacks.
She has a gorgeous fat ass. That scene in R44s post is from V For Vendetta. Intentional or not there's a great visual joke in that scene. So there's Portman with her balloon-like ass cheeks being hugged by her pants and wedged in her can't-miss-it thong, with the next shots showing her in a dressing room with show girls - all have their asses on display in thongs, and all have butts that are depressingly flat. Portman in dowdy pants is sexier than a room full of half-naked women! The director had to be laughing when he saw the rushes.
I don't fully "get" the big butt + tight pants phenomenon that Portman is demoing so well in that pic. Women being proud of a big butt seems to be JenLopez's doing I guess?!
She is very good looking, but even at her best--in Black Swan--she is never as vivid of an actress as, say, Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive(not even close) or even Catherine Deneuve in Repulsion.
Oh, but she does seem nice.
She's hot the type of face where a few lines adds to her beauty.
Her career peak was "Leon: The Professional" and it's been downhill ever since.
Her deadly dull turn in "Star Wars" should have ended her career.
She did well in Black Swan.
R58 - She wasn't the biggest problem with the prequels.
gave her best performance as a kid. boring, lifeless as an adult on film.
great, beautiful face. fat thighs and big ass with no bust though.
She was Laura Bell Bundy's (who?) understudy off broadway in Ruthless! Don't think she ever went on. B. Spears was also an understudy in that show and, from what I've read, she and Brit Brit are still friends. Funny, LBB was the star back then but least known of the three now.
Anyway, I'm not a huge fan. She's terrible in a terrible movie called The Other Woman. Lisa Kudrow sucks in the same movie.
I did like her in Black Swan most because the character was vacant so it must have been easy for her to play. Oscar worthy? Not really.
