I like PSB very much but Erasure always had my heart. There was something much more dreamy and strange about them.%0D\

And Andy Bell has a better voice than Neil Tennant.

THREAD CLOSED.
Erasure is wonderful musical melodrama. Petshop Boys is a little too spoken word for my tastes - Lou Reed with a sinus infection, but upbeat because of the Drixoral.
This is stupid, why do we have to choose? Why not phrase it, who do you prefer? I think PSB, because I like more of their material and their singing voices better than that screechy Erasure dude who sounds like a girl. But I do like a few Erasure songs.

You prefer a guy who sings in falsetto to "that screechy ERasure dude" ?
Liza Minnelli
Right, R7. I prefer Erasure''s melodies and Andy Bell''s range to PSB''s computerized "bip bip bip bop bop bop" and Neil Tennant''s nasally monotone. I do love PSB''s "Very" album, though.
PSB worked with Dusty AND Liza.%0D\

PSB, all the way.
Erasure is faggier.
Erasure collaborated with Lene Lovich, kd lang, and Diamanda Galas.%0D\

So there.
Pet Shop Boys. Totally.%0D\

I mean, I like them both, but really, there''s no doubt in my mind which is better over-all.%0D

Cyndi Lauper recently recorded something with Erasure.%0D\

Both are great, but my heart belongs to the Pet Shop Boys.
What Have I Done To Deserve This? Dusty Springfield
Pets Shop Boys are by far, the better song writers, which is really what stands the test of time.
camp act or societal reflection?
Pet Shop Boys
Erasure. Both bands are synth pop, but I like Andy Bell's soulful voice so much more. Erasure's songs had better lyrics IMO.
Well then r16 ask yourself now can you forgive her? If she begs you to..
PSB
Erasure will always have the edge for me. Just fun, pure pop. Andy's voice was wonderful whether he was doing dance tracks or ballads.
I love a lot of the Pet Shop Boys output as well, but there's something missing as well. Heart? Soul? I think it's Neil's cold, sometimes detached vocals prevent a true connection to the music. The production is always outstanding but the sheer joy of a classic Erasure track just isn't there.
I will say, I think Pet Shop Boys output has been more consistent over the years. As much as I love 80s and 90s Erasure, their last few albums have been very cheap-sounding and forgettable. And sadly, Andy Bell's voice is a sad echo of what it once was. Neil Tennant, on the other hand, still sounds exactly the same and PSB's recent recordings sound like they could have come from any time in their career.
R7 = Sheldon Cooper

Oh, it feels good to laugh again!!
PBS, no contest. Much better writer/producers and all of that, but most importantly the shrill Erasure singer is terrible. Neil isn't the best singer, but at least he's listenable.
I love both, but if I have to choose, I choose Pet Shop Boys.
Definitely the Pets, as much as I also like Erasure. Also, I strongly disagree with the person who said that Erasure had the better lyrics. PSB have the edge in that department.
Pet Shop Boys clearly are the more prolific of the 2. Very lush production values and are incredible writers. Their music will stand the test of time over Erasures
PSB. Larger catalog than Erasure and I most of it.
I love them both. But it's no contest, really.
Pet Shop Boys.
...and I *like* most of it.

Pet Shop Boys. Agree with R1. No contest...
Anyone who isn't convinced should check out the PSB video for 'Being Boring'. Beautiful song, beautiful video. It always makes me cry.
Depeche Mode over either
PET SHOP BOYS.
Word has it Neil Tennant is being honoured on the Queens' Birthday List in June.
Pets - no contest. their graphics and art and keeping going for so long put them ahead, plus their collaborations with divas like Dusty and Liza ... their concerts are marvellous now too.
Erasure had some great singles, and I loved that video of one of their concerts where Andy Bell camps around in the cowboy segment in chaps ... but their quality is variable and they are off the scene for long periods of time.
The Pets it is.
The Pets have some great witty B-sides too, songs like "Sexy Northerner" and "The Boy who could not keep his clothe on".
West End Girls, Paninaro, Being Boring, Suburbia, and particularly Love Comes Quickly never get tired for me, in their various incarnations.

They both are horrible and past their prime, that being said, PSB was way more talented.
Vince Clarke is all good and dandy, but Andy Bell is nearly as annoying as Fred Schneider. Both are begging to be punched in the face.
Pet Shop Boys songs and lyrics have this 'Stand and Model' observational (almost conversational) quality to them while Erasure songs have the camp dance quality where you just get on with the beat instead of listening too much to the lyrics.
They are both still here and ageing well, and should continue. What other 80s duo is still going ?
Erasure. The ABBA album they alone deserve credit for.
Shit, KROQ in LA used to actually play Erasure in the early 90's. Pet Shop Boys were done beyond then.
