• I happen to know CAM (not good friends, but we run in the same circles in Nashville) and I can tell you that she's been "outing" Chely for the past few years and talking down on her in public places. (mostly when she's had too much to drink, as she likes to do) Her drinking buddies talk trash on Chely too and CAM has been letting them do that for quite some time now. So, it's really out of line for anyone to accuse Chely of betraying a trust by writing the details of her life. If people in Nashville might wonder if CAM was Chely's partner, well that's because CAM has not been very discreet with the people she's told and those people have been running their mouths for some time now. CAM is no victim, believe me. And yes, she says hateful things about gays and other racist comments. She's not known as a nice person. At least Chely, in telling the truth, has done it in a respectful and productive way that is helping people. And in case you're wondering, no, Chely and I are not friends. I am just someone on the inside who knows more than most and this is how I see it. I am a gay person though, so I've been paying close attention to this situation for years. IMO, Chely was victimized by this town, by her former partner and now by her town again. Peace out.

• @R575...very true. Chely is such a talented artist but more importantly, so kind and genuine. It''s hard for me to hear people say "who cares that she came out...no one even knows who she is". She had several hits a few years back and everyone in the Nashville music industry knew who she was. Had she stayed with Brad Paisley, there is no doubt they would have been another "Faith Hill and Tim McGraw". Chely could have been huge. But she couldn''t lie. And Nashville didn''t "take kindly to that". Personally, I know NO ONE who works as hard as Chely. Yet the doors kept shutting because of the rumors. And she stopped denying it. I don''t want to judge CAM because it''s not my place. But I wholeheartedly agree with R575, CAM is no victim.

• Well said at R575 and R576. The way Nashville has treated Chely is why I want to see her do so well. She took the high road and will be happier because of that.

• I hope Chely and Lauren are really together and won''t let all of this lez drama from the past, present, or future mess with a potentially good relationship. Both have had relationships that didn''t work for whatever reasons(like everyone of us)and who knows how long it will last but...I like Lauren. She''s softly butchy but fem. too. Chely is incredebly beautiful and could have possibly any lesbian out there but maybe NY/LA society, high maintenance drama queens can''t compete with the soft butch from Brooklyn in the bedroom and out. I''m rooting for them! Hope to find out more if they are serious.

• The first time I met Chely was in 2001. I interviewed her after she walked the red carpet at an event in Nashville. I remember thinking how different she was from the other celebrities. She made eye contact with me the entire time and was so engaging. She was real.%0D\ I went home and told my boyfriend (i was in the closet too at the time) about everyone I interviewed but I specifically said, Chely Wright stands out. Although I have to admit, there was something very sad in her eyes. Yep, these days that sadness is replaced with a twinkle!! HA! Good for her! And Lauren seems like a very nice person.

• @R581 My best friend who happens to be a gay guy introduced me to DL recently. He showed me the Chely Wright thread. I couldn''t help but to defend her when I saw the comment about Chely betraying CAM. @R575 was spot on. I''ve asked myself that same question "why was Chely with CAM for so long"? But when you''re in the closet, sometimes you simply take whatever you can get. I speak from experience. With that said, I''ve had one on one conversations with CAM and she can actually be very charming. I''m sure she has many redeeming qualities. I''m also pretty certain she misses Chely which contributes to her miserable attitude. I just wish she''d take the high road like Chely does.

• Good point, R582. "Why did Chely stay with CAM for so long?" Right. It''s not like she had a lot of choices. Many closeted gay people settle for relationships with people that they''d otherwise break up with immediately, but when you''re in the closet%E2%80%93 you''re stuck. You take what you can get. I don''t mean that negatively toward CAM, I''m just answering the question again to clarify.

If so, how come she did not write about this in her memoir? You would think this would have been a very difficult thing for her to do - fire her best friend and fan club president. Also when did she rehire him? He intoduces himself on the LIKeME forums as her best friend and co-founder of the forum.

• Re: The Bumper Of My SUV Scandal and Chely''s "firing" of her best friend Chuck: I my boyfriend works for Chely''s law firm and as it turned out, Chely had legal ground to sue the newspaper who published all of those false allegations. It was a bunch of BS and Chely''s firing of her best friend happened within the first 48 hours of the whole drama, before any facts were really revealed. And, Chuck and Chely came to the mutual decision that it was best to do that. It was a very confusing situation and we who are "in the know" about it have always respected Chely for taking the high road and not raising hell about how her name (and her best friend''s name) were dragged through the mud. They did nothing they were accused of.

• And I''d add too that it''s not so hard to imagine who goes on these message boards to trash Chely. Some of us are Nashville, Music Row types and if you read her book you can clearly tell who might have a reason to go on to message boards and do their best to trash her. \ And no, I''m not talking about exes. I''m talking about people (whom she had enough class not to name in her book), but she told it how it was. She went into detail about what it''s like to be closeted; what it''s like to have people in your inner circle know your secret and have the ability to use it against you. Chely wrote it as it is in her book and I''m suspecting that most of this trash talk on here and a lot of other boards is from the few people she took to task in her book. Many of us on Music Row are cheering her on.
