A bit hazy on the details now, but Jim Courier had won the men's title the previous year, I think, and spoken in French during the trophy presentation. So anyway, Seles got talking about this and someone suggested that she get a French boyfriend who could teach her, to which she responded, "You mean, like Jim Courier did?" and then giggled. I wouldn't read too much into that, though. Courier had been reportedly seeing a French girl around that time and Seles might have been referring to that. As she wasn't terribly fluent in English at the time, I have my doubts over this particular incident being an outing of Courier. Not that I think he's straight, mind you. I do think he pings a lot.
