No Sally stories?

by Anonymousreply 1June 12, 2010 4:51 PM

Sally Quinn's cuntiness has been discussed extensively on DL. Do a search.

by Anonymousreply 2June 12, 2010 4:53 PM

[quote]First Families came and went in the White House, and often didn't realize, in Sally's view, how Washington worked, a phenomenon she griped about in many of her articles during those years. “You come in from another community and you don't know anything about the people,” she says, explaining why the Establishment is so critical to governance.

Yes, because a Washington society whore has so much to teach Rosalynn Carter or Hillary Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 3June 12, 2010 6:15 PM

I always thought she seemed boring. Driven people who seem boring bore me and irritate me at the same time. Of course I am a nobody who just saw her on TV and read about her. But that's what she seems to me.

by Anonymousreply 4June 12, 2010 6:22 PM

She's a high society whore. Nothing less and nothing more.

by Anonymousreply 5June 12, 2010 9:32 PM

She got fired from the Post, her husband is ancient (and increasingly irrelevant), and her son's retarded; who is she to put on airs?

by Anonymousreply 6June 12, 2010 10:03 PM

Her son is getting divorced. What a strange couple. I'm guessing there was an iron clad pre nup? I can't imagine Sally as a MIL.

This really is a reality show waiting to happen. Gold digger marries mentally impaired son of DC dynasty. I'm surprised DL doesn't have more to say about this!

by Anonymousreply 8July 28, 2014 6:23 PM

It's that house she bought in the Hamptons! It makes everybody mad!

by Anonymousreply 9July 28, 2014 6:28 PM

[quote] In August 1973, Quinn tried her hand at television, joining CBS News reporter Hughes Rudd as co-anchor of the CBS Morning News.[11] The show's anchoring team was its first disaster since debuting in 1963. Quinn was given no training, a huge buildup and ninety minutes before her television debut on August 6, 1973, Quinn, who had never reported for television before, collapsed while trying to fight the flu. Quinn's ad libs during the show's first week tended toward the inappropriate—in one episode, following a report on the children of California migrant farm workers, she quipped that child labor "was how I felt when my mother and father made me clean up my room." Quinn left the CBS Morning News after the February 1, 1974, telecast. She chronicled her short, disastrous television career in the bestselling book We're Going to Make You a Star.

However she has gotten wherever it is she gotten to, it wasn't on intelligence, humanity or charm.

by Anonymousreply 11July 28, 2014 6:38 PM

Check this out - Sally's ex-DIL and son on a tour of their "space" in the Bradlee mansion. Of course there is a "secret" (unlocked) door to their apartment.

by Anonymousreply 14July 28, 2014 7:14 PM

She literally slept with a married man and bagged him away from his wife. She's a whore.

Yeah what the hell is up with her son marrying that Yoga instructor? Feel sorry for her.

by Anonymousreply 17July 28, 2014 7:34 PM

She was the FIRST female anchor on CBS Morning News

by Anonymousreply 18July 28, 2014 7:41 PM

I'm kind of surprised he & that gold-digging yoga instructor are still married.

I love the comments on Sally Quinn's columns on the Washington Post because she's the one thing that unites conservatives and liberals: their hatred of Sally

by Anonymousreply 19July 28, 2014 7:45 PM

OMG R12, that daughter in law is insufferable

by Anonymousreply 20July 28, 2014 7:47 PM

What's wrong with the son? What's his impairment?

by Anonymousreply 21July 28, 2014 8:00 PM

She reminds me so much of Pamela Harriman--another party-loving, snobbish, ruthless blonde who married for power, wealth, and social cachet, and made sure to divide her husband from his children from a previous marriage as part of her consolidation of power.

I remember during the Lewinsky scandal Sally Quinn wrote a column on how no one in the Beltway really liked the Clintons anyway because they didn't fit in and go to DC parties, and how that piece ended up boomeranging on her--it looked like she thought Clinton ought to be impeached because he and Hillary didn't go to the right parties.

I hope she's thoroughly humiliated by this piece. She is a horrible throwback to another century--a wannabe Madame de Pompadour. I wish only that Pamela Harriman had been embarrassed like this during her own lifetime--she was an even meaner, more ruthless, and more powerful courtesan-wife.

by Anonymousreply 22July 28, 2014 8:07 PM

From the wikipedia article on Sally:

[quote]Quinn was critical of President Bill Clinton during the impeachment trial, stating that he had "fouled the nest". Quinn had a long-standing animus for the Clintons, possibly due to a perceived snub by First Lady Hillary Clinton, who declined a party invitation from Quinn.Regarding Whitewater Independent Counsel Ken Starr, she wrote: "Similarly, independent counsel Ken Starr is not seen by many Washington insiders as an out-of-control prudish crusader. Starr is a Washington insider, too. He has lived and worked here for years. He had a reputation as a fair and honest judge. He has many friends in both parties. Their wives are friendly with one another and their children go to the same schools." Harry Jaffe wrote in Salon that Quinn's condemnation of Bill Clinton's adultery rang hollow coming from someone who broke up the marriage of her boss Ben Bradlee before going on to marry Bradlee herself.

by Anonymousreply 23July 28, 2014 8:12 PM

I think the Wash Post ended up making her a commentator/reporter on religion/faith. I kid you not.

by Anonymousreply 24July 28, 2014 8:20 PM

I told her to write that column about the Clintons. They deserved it.

by Anonymousreply 25July 28, 2014 9:54 PM

The last paragraph was really striking:

[quote]When she decided to publish the piece, she felt it was just the kind of fun, stir-the-pot column of yesteryear. “Compared to the olden days, where people were writing things like this all the time, it was nothing! It was the kind of thing people would read and say, ‘That's Sally!’” It seems she didn't expect that this time the eyebrows would be raised at her. It's not something she or her husband seem to particularly enjoy. As this story was going to bed, Bradlee called, clearly frustrated, and asked, “This is news?”

His defensiveness is understandable, but it's amazing to me someone obsessed with gossip and public appearances should have so little self-awareness.

by Anonymousreply 26July 28, 2014 10:01 PM

Interestingly, this all comes out the same week her son has announced he is getting divorced--and it was the wedding that caused all the hoopla in the first place:

[quote]The son of Washington’s most prominent media couple is getting divorced from the yoga instructor he married four years ago. Quinn Bradlee, the son of legendary Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and hostess and writer Sally Quinn, married Pari Williamson at the National Cathedral in 2010. According to Politics Daily, the couple met in 2009 through one of Pari’s yoga students, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd. From the start, the couple was thrust into the spotlight. Sally Quinn triggered an uproar when she used her Post column to deflect rumors that she had deliberately rescheduled Quinn and Pari’s wedding to conflict with the wedding of Ben Bradlee’s granddaughter by an earlier marriage. (After the item ran, the Post stripped Quinn of her column in print editions, according to the Washington City Paper.) At age 14, Quinn was diagnosed with velo-cardio-facial syndrome, a rare condition that triggers a range of neurological and physical anomalies. In 2009, he published a memoir titled A Different Life: Growing Up Learning Disabled and Other Adventures, and he was an associate producer of the 2010 HBO documentary I Can’t Do This But I Can Do That: A Film for Families about Learning Differences. Although the legal paperwork has not been filed, Sally Quinn confirmed the divorce to Washingtonian, but she refused to answer questions regarding the circumstances of the split. “Quinn and Pari remain very close friends,” Sally says. “We love Pari very much and we still consider her a member of our family.” In a voicemail message, Pari declined to comment.

Seems like she was pregnant and miscarried...

Is Quinn mentally OK? Or did she marry Quinn for money and prestige?

by Anonymousreply 28July 28, 2014 10:49 PM

The VF story said she was pregnant when they got married.

by Anonymousreply 29July 28, 2014 11:14 PM

Didn't I read Ben had been suffering from dementia?

by Anonymousreply 30July 28, 2014 11:23 PM

is the son mentally impaired? Strange in the video link upthread--seems like Pari and Quinn lived with Quinn's parents?

by Anonymousreply 31July 29, 2014 1:17 AM

That explains why MoDo trashed Chelsea. She was team Quinn.

Sally idealizes the great Washington hostesses, like Perle Mesta, Susan Mary Alsop, and especially Pamela Harriman and Kay Graham.

Check out this (typically self-important) column of hers about the play "City of Conversation."

Never knew about how she met her husband.

I thought that she was haughty because of her upbringing. I seem to remember her suggesting that the then President of The National Organization of Women was immoral and her lifestyle contrary to what most American women value. The President of NOW was traveling with her female lover while her husband was at home.

Sounded like a sweet set-up to me, but Madame Quinn did not approve. Reformed whores are the worst...

She was a pretty lady when she was younger. I guess in the end she got the face she deserved, as they say.

by Anonymousreply 35July 29, 2014 2:49 PM

She does seem like an uber-cunt scheduling son's wedding same day as the grand-daughers'...really? I call BS on that.

I would love to know more about Pari and the relationship w/the son...

by Anonymousreply 36July 29, 2014 6:07 PM

Sally joins in on date rape conversation. Specifically she was not involved nor would ever be involved, you sluts!

Quinn has 22 Q deletion syndrome. Next to Downs, it's the most common chromosomal syndrome, but few people know about it. Used to be called DiGeorge syndrome.
