• I remember reading an interview after she married Christopher Lambert where she said she had been "used and abused" by her former boyfriend (Jon Bon Jovi apparently) and was scared of AIDS and just wasn''t into dating. She appeared on a French program and Lambert was there and she said "Christopher just wouldn''t take ''no'' for an answer". They married when she was in "Lonesome Dove" and they were driving cross-country--just stopped off somewhere and tied the knot.\ \ Had a daughter, Eleanor. Not sure why they broke up, but I remember thinking that it was a very romantic story.

The parental neglect would likely have done damage had not other adults taken an interest and counter acted it.\ \ Much later Serban worked with her again at ART, and I remember the interviews indicating a continued degree of parental warmth coming from Serban (who can be a cold fish).

• I realize I may be just assuming that it is well-known that Lane was one of the kids in the original Fragments of a Greek Trilogy. She was.\ \ The weird thing is that when you look at photos, she looks pretty much the same and she must have been 8 year old.

• They made a huge deal when Unfaithful was released. It was her huge comeback from what I kept hearing but that didn''t seem to go anywhere.

• I think she''s aging wonderfully. In Cotton Club and the earlier movies she''s just another pretty plastic blonde. It wasn''t until Walk on the Moon that she really started to be visually interesting. \ \ Now time will catch up with her, and she may have already peaked in Unfaithful, but the few extra pounds and lines on her face made her so much more beautiful than her 25 year old version.

There was a lot of hype about her performance in "A Little Romance", Olivier was very impressed by her and there was a feeling that she would be the next break through child star. I always enjoy her on screen although I don''t think she has a compelling screen presence.

Everybody acted like she was Jessica Tandy with her tits out.
