I''ve been home recovering the last two weeks and have been watching the Today Show. Good Lord these two DRINK!!! And it''s only 10AM.\
Mosty stories Kathy Lee tells involves wine or some other sort of alcohol. \
Is this healthy?
They''re actually celebrating their drinking...in this episode.\
It''s time for an intervention, I think.\
It''s sad that they''re actually embracing the drinking. I can only imagine how many lonely people are watching this, thinking "if they''re doing it, it must be ok" and spending their days drinking. I''m a recovering alcoholic and I find it absolutely pathetic. However, I can''t stop watching...it''s like a car crash.
sweetie, you need to get back to work and stop thinking about these 2 women.\
you are cracking me up.
Well wouldn''t YOU be a drunk if you were either of them?
Anyone who has waited on KLG can tell you some good stories.
I love heavy drinkers. They''re the most fun to be around. Often very interesting and/or funny people. Our society was much better when we boozed it more, smoked, and didn''t count fat grams. It''s now a boring all you can eat buffet, bicycle helmet world.
I hate to admit that I am indeed suspicious of people who won''t drink at all - unless they are recovering alcoholics. Anecdotally, I also find teetotalers to be quite dull.
OP and R1 here...I agree with all.\
However, when alcohol becomes your thought EACH AND EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY...and when you make excuses NOT to drink...and excuses TO drink...you might need help. And the producers of the Today Show are the biggest enablers of all. \
I LOvE watching heavy drinkers...go from happy drunk to sad and pathetic drunk is fascinating.
Well I''d rather do brunch with Hoda and Kathy Lee than say Candy Crowley or Andrea Mitchell. Oh I can just see Andrea picking the bacos of her salad and eating her plain baked potato.

R8, please. As a Breatharian, I live on light, and have no need of your "baked potato," plain or otherwise.
I can totally sympathize - KLG is a loud drunk, and poor Hoda has to do SOMETHING just to anesthetize herself to work with that bitch every day....
Cheyenne Jackson, who told KLG to "Fuck off" live on the air
The two of them are like Dean Martin talking about drinking. It''s all schtick.
I''m surprised that this show doesn''t get more play on DL. Everyone here seems to be The View fans.
My favorite was when the show had on an Asian guest who did something or other and KLG asked her if she knew judo and then went in to her Hong Kong Phooey routine doing chops. The guest just stood there stunned and speechless.
"It''s now a boring all you can eat buffet, bicycle helmet world."\
huh? People drink as much as I''ve ever observed. As for heavy drinkers being more fun and interesting. Think again. When people drink they get slower, dumber, clumsier, and often angrier. Some men start beating people up with they drink- something they do not come close to doing sober.\
Drinking is fun and can help disinhibit people and have a good time. But in quantity it is a killer- literally- health, behavior, car crashes, you name it, a killer.\
When you get to be an older fart like me and you look back on your friends and family you can pick out the ones who destroyed themselves and those they care the most about- too many. You''ll see if you are not there yet.
Joel McHale was today''s guest during one of the segments. He thanked both of them for giving him so much to work with each week on The Soup. He then showed a clip of them talking about a drink LOL
[quote] We tend to see drunks portrayed as losers. There''s a weak, dying fall to their energy, very often and for my money, that''s not familiar in the energy of the glorious drunks I''ve known in my life. There''s something so courageous, and hard-working, and fantasy-filled and fun, about most of the drunks I''ve known.\
[quote] Those are the alcoholics I know. I don''t know the loser ones, the sad ones. I know the tough ones who are full of energy and chuck themselves down the neck of the bottle. I thought about how courageous it is to be that self-destructive. It takes such guts.
Tilda, is that second quote from Christopher Hitchens?
Have seen both Hitchens and KLG well into their cups
BTW, you all, it''s KATHIE Lee Gifford.
That guy in the clip at R15 is a complete prick. If you''re going to agree to be on the show, and you know the general style of the show and it''s hosts, then be prepared to play along instead of trying to make the show into what YOU - the guest - wants. Fucking tool.
I love Hoda Kotb. She is hilarious when they get some alcohol in her. She and Kathie Lee are the only thing that could keep people watching Today for four hours.
I agree theese two are drnks, and are giving a wrong message out there..I can't believe the Today show goes along with it...I change the channel as soon as they pop in,, Matt Lauri..get rid of the booze crap..and clean up the Today Show..and not send a message out there that alchahol is fun and funny,,,it's a disease...grow up Today Show staff..
You know what's even sadder, R25? Being a poor speller with atrocious grammar.
How come everyone hates Kathy Lee? I think she's funny. Same with Hoda. I'd rather watch these two over the old bitches on The View. At least Hoda and Kathy Lee don't take anything seriously and it's all for fun.
They do no drink on the show! They pretend to drink.
[quote]They do no drink on the show!
They put pee pee in your Coke!
I don't watch the show, but I saw a promo for this week's shows. They are in the Bahamas and drinking up a storm.
They are very funny together -- KL has never been funnier. I have a friend who went to lunch with KL. My friend doesn't drink but KL drank an entire bottle of wine. Let's hope the meal lasted a few hours. And when she watched rehearsals for her Aimee SM show, she drank wine every afternoon in the rehearsal room.
Kathie Lee drinks because deep down she feels remorseful that she treats everyone in her life like shit (but she can't stop doing it.)
Hoda drinks because she has zero self-esteem - which she demonstrates daily as she sits there and lets KL continuously put her down.
They're a match made in TV heaven. They should be the top rated show in that time slot. Are they?
They're Eddy & Pats for the mommy set
I've had several flying partners tell me KLG couldn't be more gracious and friendly when they had her on flights, and she didn't get drunk.
What R34 said
I think they should stop doing this drinking in the am it sets a bad example !!
Hoda is an excellent reporter and a very good interviewer. Too bad she's stuck with working alongside that nasty bitch.
Kathie Lee is boring until someone imitates her. Then she copies the imitator.
Jan Hooks did a scathing depiction of her during the Reege era. So Kathie Lee started imitating Jan doing Kathie Lee.
No one made fun of the alcohol thang until Kristen Wiig started lampooning the odd appearancs of alcohol in almost every episode (it's a morning show).
I think it is a sad commentary on our society when alcoholics like Kathy Lee and Joda are held up to the public as admirable women. What is the message to our children?
I can't imagine how Hoda manages to put up with Gifford five days a week.
Don't they get drunk in the mornings? That's the one thing that keeps me from thinking I have a problem.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
