There was speculation that Gale and Randy had started "hooking up" around the middle of season one. I had no solid proof until I became good friends with one of the other actors. He had caught them together a few times and once they had even asked him to join them. So that''s how I know. Also, by the second season most of the cast knew about them being together off set.
