What's it like?
Has anyone ever visited or lived in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan?

I wouldn't mind living in Sebastian Stan.

A true delight for the mind and eye

You've seen one Stan, you've seen them all.

All concrete oppressive soviet era structures. The people are depressed, some steel teeth. Shithole is right.

Why would anyone want to?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 27, 2015 1:47 AM |
Why would anyone want to spend one minute in those hellholes? R1 has a great idea, though.

Kazakhstan has the strongest economy in Central Asia, buoyed by its abundance of oil and natural resources and the quasi free market policies of its President-for-life. Its two main cities, Almaty and Astana are bustling metropolises with high-rises, luxe German cars, and modern amenities.
Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are bogged down by factionalism, religious conservatism and Is•lamic fundamentalism. Turkmenistan is a police state that everyone avoids.

I went to Uzbekistan as part of a training tour (I was an athlete). We went to various training facilities in countries that were once part of the Soviet Union, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, etc.)
Uzbekistan was by far the most miserable of them.

Why have none of you ignorant queens mentioned that Uzbekistan contains two of the most beautiful cities in the world - Samarkand and Bukhara, two gems of Is•la•mic architecture. Both cities are actually Tajik not Uzbek but the Soviet policy of divide-and-rule gave them to Uzbekistan. These artificially imposed borders still create tensions which the West happily exploits by selling billions in weapons to both sides.

The reason no one mentioned the wonders of Samarkand and Bukhara is because white KKKweens want to feel superior to other races to compensate for being looked down upon by straights.

The most gay-friendly countries on earth. They encourage PDAs. You and the bf should book your tickets now, since there's such a high demand.

This will teach you everything you need to know about Uzbeks. There's even a little Calvin Coolidge joke at 1:15.

Bride kidnapping is still a thing in Central Asia. It's like never advanced past the 12th century.

I've always wanted to visit those islamic jewels of Uzbekistan but apparently travelling around solo that country is not a very pleasant experience so everytime I plan a new vacation I give it a miss (plus the plane tickets are usually very expensive). I hate travelling around with travel agencies but I just might join a tour of Uzbekistan one day.

Bodybuilding is big these days as in all the Islamic countries. Nice barbells made of cans filled with cement.
