Surprising Sexiness from Actors Not Normally Known for It
Not about gawking at celebrities for aging or gaining weight and losing their looks, but about getting ambushed by the sexiness (or beauty) of an actor (male or female) not usually associated with it.
When have you encountered hotness in an actor where you didn't expect to find it?
Robert Duvall? (See link.) Other startling sexiness?

I've been surprised by how hot I think Telly Savalas is in most anything, but what really opened my eyes was his performance in The Scalphunters, where he wears pink long johns for the entire film and still exudes a threatening masculinity.
I used to think he was a joke, but now when I see him, I want to start jerking off. Something about his manliness and confidence.

Tim Matheson's army physical scene from Yours, Mine & Ours.
He was 21 at the time of filming, so my perving gets a partial pass.
He would later induce another boner when he slipped out of his underwear and showed his ass in Animal House.

Tim Matheson doesn't exactly fit into this category. One-time favorite of adolescent girls and perpetual favorite of gay men.
Nude scene in Animal House. He drops a towel, not underwear. All while talking about big titties and imitating a sorority girl's orgasm. Mine usually followed in close pursuit.

Matheson shows his ass again in the horror film Impulse with Meg Tilly. A small town drinks some kind of infected milk and everyone loses their impulse control, leading to rage murders and indiscriminate sex. The sex didn't go in the direction that I was praying for in the case of TM.
His ass fills out nicely in middle age. You can google "Tim Matheson Nude" and view the pic of his butt within the search, but the actual link is bad.

When Cagney was really young, in some of his gangster films he projects a kind of sexiness, esp with women. Charlie Chaplin in his "Burlesque Of Carmen", basically a parody of the famous opera. Dabney Coleman had a great ass too r112, I always wanted to spank and fuck him. In the 70s comedy series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman there is a brief scene where his bare ass was shown in one of the episodes.
There is a lesser known actor somewhat popular in the 50s and 60s named Ralph Meeker who, to me, oozed sexiness in Picnic, Big House, USA and Something Wild. Nice ass, nice face and great smile. Never thought Burt Lancaster was sexy until I was in my 50s (I am now in my 60s), same went for Richard Boone in Have Gun, Will Travel, although I think those who produced that show caught on as he later did a number of shirt off scenes a few of which were also of him tied up.

Willem Dafoe did it for me in Platoon and Boondocks Saints. Not really in anything else. Is he considered guy-hot? Or pretty much just ugly?
Keitel recently in the Two men in town remake. Hottest he's been since Mean Streets.
I think he was hotter in Scorsese's first film, Who's That Knocking at My Door, where he did a nude scene.

Looking back Ted Bessell was very dreamy in That Girl and the first Darin was much better looking on Bewitched.
Most of the time Miles Telfer looks like he got the role due to a relative but in Whiplash I wanted to slap him around also.

Albert Finney in Stanley Donen's Two for the Road with Audrey Hepburn.
I know that he was being sold as a variant on a heartthrob with Tom Jones, but I didn't enjoy him or the film that much.
In Two for the Road, he was a bit randy, as in Tom Jones, but also both romantic and sexy. It's my favorite of his roles, with the possible exception of Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express, in which he was decidedly unsexy.

I admit I like the tempestuousness and testosterone on display by blowhard Norman Mailer (hairy back!) and the previously mentioned crazy-ass Rip Torn in Maidstone.
Their brawl starts at about 2:00 and escalates. The dialogue while Torn has Mailer pinned is priceless. Later, they argue about who is the real cocksucker.
Unbearable film, but a fascinating scene with mentally unbalanced performers engaged in a preposterous contest of masculinity.

Dustin Hoffman was never again as hot as he was in his film debut The Graduate. He rocked that 1967 bathing suit.
Speaking of Bruce Dern, I'd also like to mention his shirtless scene in the kitchen with Barbara Harris in The Family Plot.

Chris Cooper in John Sayles' last great movie, LONE STAR. Incredibly sexy in his scenes with Elizabeth Pena.

Henry Winkler in The Lords of Flatbush from '74.
The role won him the part of Fonzie, and while the latter was mostly (and increasingly as the series wore on) cartoonish bravado, his Butchey in Flatbush was full of youthful, sexual anxiety. And beauty.
Please note here the duck lips on Stallone, who was actually far hotter in the film than in this photo. Also, Perry King!

People will often cite Brad Pitt or George Clooney as one of the hottest actors of the 90s but as my tastes tend to run toward the unorthodox I have to say that to me, Jim Carrey was the sexiest of the decade by FAR. And in "The Cable Guy" I think he was at his most handsome and fuckable.

Jeff Bridges in "Against All Odds". Though cute in many of his previous movies.....the sleek muscles, full body tan, beard and golden brown pubes really turned him into jo fantasy material.

A two-fer: Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda in ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. Fonda, perhaps the most famous example of "casting against type" in film history, is particularly sexy in the flashback scene (they threw a wig on him to make him look younger): the way he saunters onto the scene in slow-mo, with that evil smile...

No shit, R120.
One of his sexiest scenes was one where there was no sex involved: [italic]Places of the Heart,[/italic] where Wayne and Margaret make out while sharing a piece of cake.

The '74 Gatsby is the absolutely worst cast film I've ever seen.
Everybody is wrong wrong wrong (especially Dern)except for Sam Waterston who I've found impossibly sexy and hot ever since I was a boy and saw him in Much Ado About Nothing.
I'm the only one I know who feels this way.
I also saw not too long ago an old That Girl and I was totally floored when the 60s clean cut very cute neighbor turned out to be Dabney Coleman.
Ed Harris in what?I'd be harder pressed to find him in a role where he was NOT sexy.
Ed seems to have grown into his looks... I saw him in the movie "Coma" the other night and thought he looked surprisingly geeky and unattractive. But then again it's hard to look sexy holding somebody's spleen.

Yeah, just saw Dabney in some old 60s tv episodes and was surprised how handsome he looked.
I really like the way the old film color processes brought out the color of the actor's eyes.

R132 I thought Dern was hot in The Burbs. I watched that movie a ton as a kid, and there's one scene where he is in his boxers and an untied bathrobe frantically rooting through the back of a garbage truck, and I used to pause that scene and go frame by frame to try to get a peek under the leg hole of the shorts to see his dick. Never saw anything, but still loved his hairy chest.

Donald Sutherland - Don't Look Now.
He had a seventies gay clone look that worked quite well for him during a brief window.
Plus the rumors of real fucking for the sex scenes with Julie Christie.

"Sexist egotistical lying hypocritical bigot"...and a hot daddy, too! Liked how Dabney Coleman's three-piece suit looked on him (and his big butt) in "9 To 5." And never knew until recently about his full rear exposure in "Modern Problems" as I never saw that film. Very nice flashback, if you'll pardon the pun.
