Marci Coyote Rose

Marci was a phenomenal standup comic and I had the privilege to know her and spend some time with her decades ago. I met her through Winston who booked the MGM Grand's comedy room.

A few years ago someone posted on DL that he was her brother.

After a life changing event, coupled with Lyme Disease, I lost contact.

Can anybody update?

Rose is a special person.

r1, M/M is that you?

Is she in her 50s now?

Where did she grow up?

Was in her 40s, would probably be in 50s now. Suppose.

Boston, New York?

She was the true heir of the Bill Hicks' comedy.

She wrote some of the Elizabet Taylor jokes for Rivers.

She was a pal.

It's a common name I guess, but I will continue to believe the president of our horticulture club who was dreaming of being a librarian had a sudden inspiration to do something a little different.

She wrote fat jokes for a living? That is her contribution to the world? She should be eaten alive by a horde a horde of viscious Lyme ticks.

r6, she wrote fat jokes that went global. It was the 1980s, I believe. Those were jokes she sold. She had incredible insight to other comics personae and could write in their voice.

Her own comedy predated political correctness and she was wonderfully irreverent. She was a draw at Catch at the MGM in the day.

I hope she is happy.

It's a long shot but on Usenet nearly 20 years ago I knew a standup comedian named Stu Stein. I think he worked with her. He's a teacher at Mepham now, if you can find his email address you might want to contact him.

One of the interesting things I learned from Rose was that she was friends with Julie Harris. It seemed to be a Cape Cod neighbor thing.

I knew Marci. She was/is one of my husband's aunts's dear friends. My husband's aunt introduced me to Marci in the 90's when we stayed with her in Mashpee, MA. on the Cape. I have heard she decided to stop comedy and made some life changes.

And we know what those life changes were as she now goes by Mitch.

by Anonymousreply 11June 18, 2019 7:46 AM

Sorry, HE now goes by Mitch.

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2019 7:46 AM

Some life changes were made for him, like severe and debilitating Lyme Disease.

He stopped returning my emails.

I miss him.
