Tom McBride who played Mark in Friday the 13th Part 2 in 1981. The guy in the wheelchair who gets machete'd in the face and, inexplicably, falls down a giant flight of stairs without falling out of the wheelchair, machete firmly planted in the face and all. The actor was gay and later died of AIDS in the mid 90's.

Side note: There's a guy at the New York Sports Club I work out at who's dead ringer for this guy. We've had some fun encounters in the sauna, so it always makes me think of Tom McBride!

The Boogens wasn't really available in any way for the longest time, so bless Olive Films for their DVD release. It is a lot of fun, and I seem to remember Stephen King and Gahan Wilson singing its praises back in the day.

Yeah I watched The Boogens as a teenager and I hated it because I was going through a major slasher movie phase (still am) And the videocassette box went out of its way to make it like a woods based slasher movie. When in fact it’s a wintry mountain based monster movie.

Then the movie was “lost” for years in the DVD age.

TCM showed it in TCM Underground and I watched it and really liked it. It’s an unpretentious monster flick done with grounded and realistic, relatable characters.

I assume the TCM showings went well as they showed it again and I assume that is how Olive Films became involved. It’s so funny, looking at the Olive Flims pamphlet that came the dvd because 90%-ish of the titles listed are art films and things like them and then there is The Boogens.

I made it through SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 2 -- barely. This series is ridiculously cheap and lame. Characters like cops and movie dates appear magically beside the characters who started the scene without them just to save money/time .It's warm and sunny, California weather, though Part 1 had Christmas snow everywhere. Part 2 basically just replays the footage from Part 1 -- less than half the movie is new.

The saving graces are Wilson's ass and laughing out loud at the campy-as-fuck kills that seem random with ham-fisted acting from Wilson or Freeman.

Someone waaaaaaay upthread mentioned J. Eddie Peck in Curse II: The Bite. Well I just watched that one last night and I wholeheartedly agree. The movie is hilariously weird and the camera adores Mr. Peck. Lots of lingering shots of him in tight jeans showing off his bouncing basket. Co-star Jill Schoelen isn't photographed nearly as lovingly. Given the plot revolves around his body being invaded by snakes I suppose you could make the argument it's a gay panic metaphor.
