She lied about her terminally ill "first love", she shamelessly courted public sympathy during her divorce, probably thinking in some way she hurting Brad Pitt and a former roommate of hers wrote a thinly veiled book about her calling her the ultimate "frenemy" and an "underminer".

IIRC, we used to have someone here who was part of her team at one point who said she was hideously insecure and you had to compliment her non-stop. I have tried to watch Friends. Can't stomach more than five minutes of it. I have watched Aniston in several movies. All bad. She didn't impress. Not once. I find her boring on every level. I think she was really good on Friends, and she has talent. IMO, she just doesn't have the range to be a film actress. In the trailer for Cake, her character reminds me of Aniston herself as she comes across these days, e.g., on Inside the Actors Studio, and in the paparazzi documentary from a couple of years ago -- guarded, slightly defensive, indignant and not the sweet person she used to be. There's an underlying bitterness there, perhaps only reserved for the media, but still.

(Having said this, I enjoyed her in Wanderlust, of all things).

If I'm going to analyze this, then I would just come to the conclusion that her campaign to be a "respected actress" was too transparent. Remember, someone like McBongo took a full two years of "respected" performances to retool his image. Maybe had Aniston had been showing a seriousness of purpose for a sustained period of time, voters, would have been more receptive (I suspect they would have). You can't just turn everything around with one movie, or it's very rare - especially one with mixed reviews and shaky distribution (which is why she had to campaign her ass off to begin with).
