I'm going to miss Parks and Recreation.

By shifting the show into the far future, they have made it hysterical.

Love this.

Tammy!

by Anonymousreply 1January 14, 2015 12:31 AM

Still no love for this show?

by Anonymousreply 2January 14, 2015 1:35 AM

Terrible show but what did you expect from a show that has that awful Amy Poeler in it.

by Anonymousreply 3January 14, 2015 1:39 AM

Does Megan Mullaly have cancer? She's really skinny and seems to be wearing a wig.

by Anonymousreply 4January 14, 2015 1:39 AM

R4-

She looked great in her nude scene, and AMAZING for a 50+ woman.

That scene was pure chaos. Loved it.

by Anonymousreply 5January 14, 2015 2:02 AM

The show sucked tonight, both episodes. Sorry troll.

by Anonymousreply 6January 14, 2015 2:03 AM

It's nice they gave Rachel Dratch a job in the new episode. But she was not funny or even memorable.

by Anonymousreply 7February 4, 2015 4:34 AM

Star Trek is the far future. This is what, just 10 years in the future?

by Anonymousreply 8February 4, 2015 4:38 AM

Damn. I sat down to watch the DVR and it wasn't on.

Realized NBC has moved it, a final slap to the face. 10PM, after 4 weeks at 8PM. With 2 episodes at a time, except one week with reruns.

Watching no. Love this. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 9February 25, 2015 2:54 AM

Series finale is pure wish fulfillment.

by Anonymousreply 10February 25, 2015 2:58 AM

Yes, R10- and it was glorious.

For all the imperfections and misdemeanors, Parks & Rec was a solid A- comedy that stuck the landing like Johnny Karate.

It is so rare as to be unprecedented in this millennium- a very good to great sitcom that had a satisfying and upbeat and powerfully moving series finale.

by Anonymousreply 11February 25, 2015 3:21 AM

The finale was more moving than hilarious, but it was still a great way to end a wonderful series.

I'm going to miss it too.

by Anonymousreply 12February 25, 2015 3:27 AM

I'm going to miss this show.

Scenes cut from the finale will be available for viewing tomorrow.

I can't understand why people don't watch this show. Fuck NBC.

by Anonymousreply 14February 25, 2015 4:08 AM

R3, stick to Antenna TV.

by Anonymousreply 15February 25, 2015 4:10 AM

It'll be interesting to see if anyone beyond Pratt can sustain a career

by Anonymousreply 16February 25, 2015 4:17 AM

We CAN do better. "The show was very upbeat and optimistic—at a time when there's not a ton to be optimistic about, especially in the world of politics and government. In 2008 we had a new president who came into office with this great message of hope and optimism and the system and to some extent his decisions, and to a larger extent, a lot of other decisions made by other people just turned everything into the same twisted defeatist nightmare that we've been living in for a really long time now. Hopefully this show was kind of a nice counterbalance to the political realities of the world. In that it was a show about people who wanted to do good things for people and make people's lives better. And you know, that seems like a very Pollyannaish attitude, and we were constantly asking ourselves, ‘Are we crazy to be portraying this?' But I don't think that it is a crazy pipe dream that a 19th century Libertarian [Ron Swanson] and a 21st century progressive [Leslie Knope] can find areas of commonality and can be civil to each other and respectful and even be friends. And beyond that, I don't think it's naïve to think that people like that can actually help each other and be good to each other and give each other good ideas. And show each other that there's another side to every argument that can be given without yelling and screaming and waiving your fist and insulting each other."

WORDS TO LIVE BY.

Leslie's last speech about loving your team followed by the dedication to the writer who died last week made me very teary-eyed.

I'll miss this show.

Any chance you’ll want to revisit “Parks and Recreation” in the future?

I honestly hadn’t thought about it at all. I don’t know why, I just hadn’t. When you’re writing an ending it’s probably not a good idea to have one foot out the door and think, “Well, maybe this isn’t the ending!” You need to appropriately, emotionally deal with the ending. But I don’t know. The cast is about to disperse and dominate Hollywood for the next 25 years. It’s unlikely they’ll ever have time at the same moment. But I’ll never say never. It’s the greatest job I’ve ever had, and maybe ever will have. I would never say no. If the opportunity presents itself and everybody’s interested, I’ll be right there with my old-timey typewriter ready to bang out another episode.

loved the finale. best little joke: seattle built a haystack around the needle. needle is now really hard to see!

by Anonymousreply 20February 25, 2015 6:20 PM

The lead character's husband (who became a Congressman) reminded me of an old asg thread: "Gay or Midwestern?"

It was fun to see the Bidens.

by Anonymousreply 21February 26, 2015 5:36 AM

I really loved the characters on this show. Leslie Knope is someone I'd be friends with if. I was also glad to see them give Donna a bigger role in the show - she was always cool, confident and funny. It was good to see everyone back together (except for Rob Lowe - can't stand him) and the season finale was pretty good. A sweet show.

by Anonymousreply 22February 26, 2015 8:33 AM

This show was great (and of the best on TV) in seasons two and three.

It's a shame that the writing became so unimaginative and relied on the same jokes throughout the rest of its run.

by Anonymousreply 23February 26, 2015 9:17 AM

Great great show. That Johnny Karate episodes was excellent. Especially the fake commercials. "Proud to be one of American's last eight companies!"

by Anonymousreply 24February 26, 2015 9:22 AM

I wonder how Amy and Rob Lowe got through their scene together?

by Anonymousreply 25February 26, 2015 11:48 AM

It was very hit or miss over the seasons and could get waaaaayyyyy too cloyingly sweet, but could be relied on for one or two good laughs per episode (for example "Failure: An American Success Story.") It has definitely run its course.

by Anonymousreply 26February 26, 2015 11:59 AM

Sad -- the guy with the mustache was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 27February 27, 2015 1:53 AM

ISIS will pay for this...

by Anonymousreply 28February 27, 2015 4:06 PM

I am going to miss the hell out of this show. April and Andy's scene in the hospital just about killed me, between April putting on zombie makeup to give birth, her "birth mix" (Monster Mash) and the insane baby name suggestions had me in hysterics. Everyone's resolutions were satisfying, though I desperately wanted a reveal that Leslie wound up as POTUS in 2025, but Governor felt good too.

I do wish Lucy Lawless wasn't booked up so much that she couldn't put in a last appearance, but that's just quibbling.

by Anonymousreply 29February 27, 2015 4:17 PM

Finally got to watch the finale today. Loved the way they told everyone's story. Great way to close out this series.

by Anonymousreply 30February 28, 2015 1:31 AM

R29. They hinted at it when she was at Garry's funeral.

Flanked by secret service guys.

by Anonymousreply 31February 28, 2015 4:38 AM

I went on a binge of watching clips on Youtube to see highlights of past seasons, since I really haven't been keeping up with it for a while. It had some exceptionally brilliant, hilarious moments throughout its run, though I feel a lot of the episodes were slowly-paced and could be hit or miss - the strength was always in the characters themselves.

The finale was very sweet, and a fitting end to the series - yeah, so much of it was wish fulfillment, with everyone being super-successful and happy, but it was good to see all the characters together again, and I loved the ending message.

by Anonymousreply 32February 28, 2015 6:41 AM

Just binge watched the show and it was quite fun. Hated sour puss April though. Rashida Jones was ok as Ann and she was the right level of normal and fun for hyper Leslie to play off of. That thing with Rob Lowe (finger pointing and saying Ann Robinson!) got old pretty fast. I was surprised people loved it so much that the show runners kept him around for so long.

Loved the ice rink scene.
