Are they any gay men in gay porn?
Are there any? All gay porn stars (even the ones who pretend to be gay) seem to be perfectly comfortable with, or often even express their desire, to have sex with women.
Also, why is the gay porn industry so homophobic? The "gay is OK, but bisexual is fantastic and straight is PERFECT" attitude, seems to be a bit weird, to say the least.
Any opinions?

I don't want to generalize, but I do think some of them are messed up and confused. For instance, I never believed Erik Rhodes was really gay, I think something happened to him as a kid, which destroyed his sense of self, like you see in people with Borderline PD.

What are you trying to infer OP? That gay sex workers DON'T enjoy their work? Some do, some don't. Like any other job, sometimes it's just work. I have two friends trying to work up to 'star status', both gay, and they say it's, pardon the pun, actually very hard work. They basically have to live and eat to work out the same way body builders do. One of them is still in college and it helps him avoid the loan trap. He said if his porn career took off to full time, he'd do it because male porn stars in the gay genre have a short shelf life/use by date in the market with the most profits. Neither dislikes the work, but it is not 'romantic' in the least. They're all there to get the product done: the cast, the stand ins, the crew, the directors, the runners and assistants, the video and audio editors, and the producers (who just want to get a profit back from their investment).
It's hard to become one of the top stars. It's a fairly small popl, you just wait and work for a few years until the slot of ne of the big dogs ooens up, through retirement, and hope you get selected to replace him.

Most people who are attracted to men are attracted to masculinity. In our society, the masculine ideal includes athleticism, muscular body, strength, power, confidence, swag, kicking ass, Alpha Maleness, and whatever traits and characteristics are NOT associated with women and femininity. IN large part, masculinity is defined as whatever is distinct and opposite from what is associated with women. As such, football players, basketball players, construction workers, blue collar men who work with their hands, military men, frat boys/college jocks, and law enforcement/fire fighters are the most common fantasy men in society, which is reflected in all-male porn. For several reasons, gay-identified men very often display attributes that society thinks are very unmanly, such a bizarre fascination with female singers/actresses; disinterest in major team sports; distinct language and speech patterns that many consider unmanly; non-masculine hand gestures; calling other men females names and pronouns; appreciation of drag queens; not hanging with masculine male peers; few or no mainstream male friends; and non-masculine entertainment choices. Not all gay-identified men are non-masculine, but it seems that gay identity is strongly correlated to embracing gay culture, which is definitely not very masculine. In contrast, bisexual and straight-identified men who have sex with men are much, much more likely to display masculine attributes closer to their straight counterparts. They usually are not embedded in a gay culture that celebrates effeminancy instead of masculinity. Gay male culture and social identity tend to promote men who blur gender distinctions and adopt feminine characteristics. While this may be culturally liberating, it is not very attractive to many men who seek men. They still want the traditionally masculine dude who loves football, beer, pumping iron, and being a normal guy. Consequently, in order to credibly and authentically fulfill the popular hot jock bro fantasy, gay studios tend to end up casting dudes who identify as straight or bi.

They can call themselves whatver they want, R30. They're still gay.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 22, 2015 1:21 PM

The problem is that few guys who are not effeminate will call themselves "gay." Yes, there are exceptions such as Michael Sam, but he is a noteworthy exception. Gay culture is very, very gender-non comforming and effeminate, and gay identity seems to go along with gay culture. At the same time, men who seek men usually seek masculine men. Unfortunately, gay-identified men tend to be adopt very unmasculine interests, speech patterns, gestures, mannerisms, dialects/language, and traits that make them unattractive to other men, whereas bisexual and heterosexual men tend to be committed to more traditional masculinity and manhood. Studios learned long ago that the Alpha Male jock/military men is by far the most popular fantasy man, so they recruit accordingly.

With the pills and injection a gay gay porn Star who is gay can have threesomes with a woman even if he is not aroused by a female. Same with straight gay porn Stars having Sex with men. Fun fact, before the age of viagra a lot of „straight“ gay porn stars had Sex with men...so they get a boner by looking and touching a male body. Never heard about a gay porn Star who is gay and who had sex with women before viagra Time...guess they don’t get a boner by touching a female body wirhout the help of some pills. Now in times of viagra they act like they are aroused by women just because it is hip to be „open minded, straight oder bi. Everything seems better than being gay these days. But I say to you, a gay can’t change who is aroused too. Some pills just help act bisexual but gays are gay and stay gay.

Clearly there's a large market for porn featuring straight men having gay sex, regardless of whether the guys are actually straight or not-- so long as they are presented as such, the demand is there.
Maybe it's wanting what we can't have, fantasies about the friend from college you secretly lusted after, whatever, but it seems to be a major fantasy of gay men, one that social scientists won't touch with a ten foot pole because of all the negatives it brings up

OP, you're exaggerating the homophobia.
But we evolve gay because we're attracted to the average guy, and the average guy just happens to be straight and "masc." Nobody consciously discriminated, identified or reacted to an orientation. It was just hot guys.
So gay men are going to like what we're attracted to, and some are going to homophobically misidentify that as "straight," as OP is doing. But what we're attracted to IS mostly straight.
I don't share the accused fixation. I have no use for the gay4pay models who can't get into what they're doing, enjoy it or look like they're enjoying it. If it's Eastern European oafs just inserting the tips of each others' penises past their lips and back again, I'M OUT.
If it's just some guy screaming in agony with a flaccid penis whilst getting drilled from behind, I'M OUT. Unless I'm very angry at someone.
I need people who can get into their sex acts and enjoy them. I prefer a real gay man who knows how to do it well and offer full coverage over the dick joyfully ‚— ESPECIALLY from bottoms.

[quote]It’s getting worse than better
It’s actually getting better. Nowadays porn stars don’t have to pretend to be straight and anti G4P sentiment, especially in younger audiences, has forced studios to change tac. People want to watch porn where everyone is enjoying themselves, otherwise it just feels like rape. Since Next Door started posting BTS interviews, it’s pretty much proved that anyone that gets into gay porn is at least bi. They have just 3-4 guys that identify as completely straight and that’s a good thing. Same with the Sean Cody guys.
I think the preference for straight men in gay porn is generational, and now that the boomers that grew up conditioned that way in WASPy puritanical America are declining, healthier attitudes to gay sex and fluidity are taking over.
