Grumpy Cat has earned over $100 million

Not even a multi-million dollar fortune is enough to make Grumpy Cat smile.

The Internet-famous cat, known for her perpetually unamused, angry expression, has raked in $100 million over the past two years, Express reported Sunday.

The cat’s owner, Tabatha Bundesen of Morristown, Ariz., said she is astounded by the commercial success of her cat — actually named Tardar Sauce — who has been featured in books, media appearances and a movie ever since she shot to fame in 2012 via Reddit and YouTube.

“What she’s achieved in such a short time is unimaginable and absolutely mind-blowing,” Bundesen told Express. “I was able to quit my job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media and the phone simply hasn’t stopped ringing since.”

Bundesen said the reason Tardar Sauce has a permanent scowl is because she was born with an underbite and dwarfism.

She had better save up for when the cat dies.

by Anonymousreply 2December 8, 2014 3:38 PM

Awwww....she's just a regular adorable kitteh.

by Anonymousreply 3December 8, 2014 3:55 PM

Meeeooowww! Love the Grumpster!

by Anonymousreply 4December 8, 2014 4:00 PM

"Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" was actually funny. I was genuinely surprised by that.

by Anonymousreply 5December 8, 2014 4:03 PM

I love Tardar a Sauce and I'm glad for the Bundesens.

by Anonymousreply 6December 8, 2014 4:03 PM

She will never see a penny of that money.

by Anonymousreply 8December 10, 2014 2:55 AM

I have no concept of money.

by Anonymousreply 9December 10, 2014 3:54 AM

Isn't it tartar sauce? Is she making a politically incorrect comment with that name?

by Anonymousreply 10December 10, 2014 3:56 AM

The cat's name was Tard (as in retard, of course) when they first got her. They changed the name to Tardar Sauce after the very first public story came out about her and there were people offended by the name.

by Anonymousreply 11December 10, 2014 4:33 AM

I wonder if that cat goes everywhere by catnip- strewn limo.

by Anonymousreply 12December 10, 2014 4:38 AM

This thread is not funny or amusing.

Get out.

So was I. Aubrey Plaza was good as Grumpy's voice.

by Anonymousreply 14December 10, 2014 9:47 AM

Agreed R14.

Like Lorenzo Music doing Garfield's voice, Aubrey's voice suited Tardar Sauce perfectly.

I liked the movie. First time I can say that for something on Lifetime. But I think the cat's net worht is actually 1 million.

by Anonymousreply 17December 10, 2014 2:53 PM

I went to a licensing convention in Las Vegas -- I'm an artist -- and Grumpy Cat had a booth. And the cat was actually there, sleeping on a bed, with no leash, no collar, just sleeping in the corner of his booth. I got the impression that the cat might have some development issues, and it is definitely a dwarf cat. He's tiny. I've heard some people complain that its owners are exploiting the cat for money, etc, but, remember, he was a dumpster cat whom they took in, never knowing that it would be a profitable decision. I give them credit for rescuing a cat that most people would have thrown away. I hope they make millions off him.

I don't get that either.

The owner's brother posted a pic of the cat looking grumpy, the reddit users took off with the pic and she became famous.

It started as a bit of fun and snowballed from there.

The cat appears to live a comfortable life and I'm sure as long as she has food, water, a bed and some love she's happy.

I hope her cat parents make a pile from her because it would be nice to see average everyday people start making some money, instead of seeing the rich-get-richer.

Grumpy Cat has beautiful eyes and a very pretty coat. Plus, she's actually really cute. I don't know why anyone would leave such a unique and interesting looking cat in a dumpster.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

by Anonymousreply 23December 11, 2014 1:51 AM

It was probably a shitty cat breeder (most are) and I hope they kick themselves to death over it.

I hope the ex waitress donates a healthy portion to the Special Olympics. "Tard". What a twat.

[bold]Grumpy Cat wins $710,000 payout in copyright lawsuit[/bold]

Even richer now, bitches!
A cat made famous online because of its permanent scowl has been awarded $710,000 (£500,000) in a copyright case by a California federal court.
Grumpy Cat Limited sued the owners of US coffee company Grenade for exceeding an agreement over the cat's image.
The company only had rights to use the cat to sell its "Grumppuccino" iced drink, but sold other Grumpy products.
In 2013 Grenade Beverage, owned by father and son Nick and Paul Sandford, struck a $150,000 deal to market iced coffee beverages with the cat's scowl on its packaging.
But in 2015 Grumpy Cat Limited sued them for breaching that contract.
A court filing claimed they had exceeded the deal by selling roasted coffee and Grumppucino T-shirts, which Grumpy Cat said "blatantly infringed" their copyrights and trademarks.

I am skeptical about 100 million in 2 years. Well, that cat has a GREAT agent.

by Anonymousreply 27January 24, 2018 10:42 PM

America is nothing but retards

by Anonymousreply 28January 24, 2018 10:52 PM

Of course the owner doesn't want to be known to be rich or how much she makes off the cat. She might get into trouble for potential tax evasion when she gets audited and these kind of sums are discussed in public.

What breed is the cat? I can't figure it out.

by Anonymousreply 35January 26, 2018 3:43 PM

R35 The only thing that's clear is that she has an underbite and feline dwarfism.
What kind of cat breed grumpy cat is, is debatable. Grumpy cat looks like a Persian, Ragdoll, or Snowshoe cat breed, but the father and mother cat are domestic house cats.
