As was said upthread, a Google alert notified him people were talking about him on DL.

A gay reporter friend of mine tried to talk JWS into doing a coming out interview about a year ago. JWS declined, saying, "everybody knows."

FWIW I don't think the mainstream press would care if JWS publicly came out at this point. I'm not even sure that gay magazines would care much.

The National Enquirer outed him back in 1991. So, no, at this point I don't think the mainstream press would pay much attention. It would likely get a brief in some papers, in People, etc., but certainly not much traction.

But I'd still love to read an in depth interview with JWS where he talked about being a gay actor, about being outed while he was starring on The Flash and how that affected his career, about those rumors of the affair with Vander Beek, etc. The gay press should eat that up.

R57, just read an interview Shipp gave to one of the soap mags about coming onto As the World Turns for 10 months; he knew it was going to be short term and he knew he'd be the killer.

He didn't reveal in the press at the time it was a short term gig or else people would have figured out he was the killer (or perhaps mistakenly thought he was going to be the killer's victim.)

So odd that the soap mags used to be pretty much the ONLY way in which people knew stuff or found stuff out.

I miss those days, R73, where spoilers were so hard to come by. Now you know all the comings and goings so that you can sometimes predict a character arc, even if you're not trying to be spoiled.

As a GH fan and Knots Landing fan of the early to mid 80s, it was better not knowing that Brooke Bundy (Diana Taylor), Gail Ramsey (Susan Moore) and Lisa Hartman (Ciji) were leaving their roles so the deaths of those characters were truly surprising.

I remember an iterview Shipp gave during his GL days and he said there was a fan in Canada who used to write to him for photos of his feet. He would also receive pieces of paper to trace the outline of his feet on them. He said it was a female fan, but I wonder if it was. And then I heard all the stuff about Doug Marland and his thing for Shipp's feet.

Btw, years later, Grant Aleksander also mentioned a GL fan who was always writing to him asking him for pics of his feet.

A few things. I have known Don Diamont for 10 years - not gay. At all. Not a homophobe but not gay, and was married and has 6 kids.
