Remember NBC Reporter David Bloom?

David Bloom was the gorgeous NBC news reporter who died suddenly of a blood clot while reporting from the war in Kuwait in 2003.

Although Bloom was married, my friend swears up and down that they met on AOL M4M chat, Bloom came over, and they had relations...

Said Bloom's member was like a Coke can.

Did anyone else have Bloom?

"Here I am, supposedly at the peak of professional success, and I can frankly care less.”

So this guy was a brilliant journalist, with that bad grammar?!

by Anonymousreply 1August 21, 2014 10:17 PM

He was gung ho for war and jumped at the chance to be "embedded" He sat for long periods cramped up on a tank and developed the clot. It wouldn't have happened sitting at a news desk asking why we were going to war with a country that was no threat.

by Anonymousreply 2August 21, 2014 10:38 PM

I thought he got the clot flying to Iraq. No matter.

Yes, I remember him! He had a big future ahead of him, but life is fickle!

by Anonymousreply 3August 21, 2014 10:43 PM

No sitting like this for days did it...

He was a damn good reporter and a total hunk.

by Anonymousreply 5August 22, 2014 12:18 AM

Any relation to DL fave Brian Bloom?

by Anonymousreply 6August 22, 2014 12:32 AM

Claire Bloom??

by Anonymousreply 7August 22, 2014 12:51 AM

Claire Danes?

by Anonymousreply 8August 22, 2014 12:55 AM

Betsy Bloomingdale?

by Anonymousreply 9August 22, 2014 1:18 AM

"Yoo hoo, Mrs. Bloom."

by Anonymousreply 10August 22, 2014 1:20 AM

[quote]He was a damn good reporter

And once again, he was part of the press that thought it would be cool to go to war instead of questioning why. All the networks and news organization had their reporters all through the troops. I guess it wasn't too much fun for him.

by Anonymousreply 11August 22, 2014 1:22 AM

He wasn't a great reporter. At least he never showed it on network news. HIs "planted by Cheney to keep the war PR up" tank-riding stunt not only was boring, it killed him.

But I liked his looks and his voice.

by Anonymousreply 12August 22, 2014 2:14 AM

I'm really scared of developing and dying from a blood clot. What causes them? What are the symptoms? How will I know if I have one?

by Anonymousreply 13August 22, 2014 5:08 AM

Specifically, he died of DVT. Deep Vein Thrombosis. Long flights are a major risk, but there are exercises you can do in your seat to minimize risk. It wasn't as publicized in 2003 as it has been since (in fact, Bloom's death helped get the word out).

by Anonymousreply 14August 22, 2014 5:25 AM

If he was such a good reporter, how come he used the phrase "...and I can frankly care less"? A good journalist would know the term is CAN'T care less.

by Anonymousreply 15August 22, 2014 5:27 AM

NBC News won't hire a male unless he's massively hung - Bloom, Brian Williams, Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer ...

by Anonymousreply 16August 22, 2014 5:33 AM

So sad.

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2014 7:20 AM

Wasn't it speculated upon that the massive rounds of vaccines and shots he had to take prior to embarking may have played a role in his premature demise.

What happened to the ABC anchor who sustained major head trauma?

by Anonymousreply 18August 22, 2014 8:29 AM

If massive amounts of vaccines were a culprit wouldn't we have an epidemic of dead soldiers and journalists on our hands?

We don't.

by Anonymousreply 19August 23, 2014 12:05 AM

R19, I guarantee you the Dept. of Defense isn't telling us all the bad news that befalls anyone in the vicinity of our military escapades. I'll wager you have no accurate figure of the percentage of soldiers and others who suffer adverse health effects from being given massive doses of vaccines in a narrow window of time.

by Anonymousreply 20August 23, 2014 4:13 AM

No one is given massive doses of vaccines in a narrow time. Soldiers have to be uo-to-date on vaccines at all times, just like most Americans. Soldiers get deployed at a moments notice. Vaccines often take weeks to be fully active.

There are no special vaccines just for going to the Middle East that they (and we) haven't taken already.

by Anonymousreply 21August 23, 2014 4:16 AM

He was essentially replaced by the far hotter (and possibly gay) Richard Engel.

by Anonymousreply 22August 23, 2014 4:50 AM

It's always sad when a god-looking man with a huge cock goes before his time.

by Anonymousreply 23August 23, 2014 5:52 AM

Concerns about smallpox vaccines leading to sudden deaths - appearing just as the Iraq War began.

Did Journalist David Bloom Die From Smallpox Vaccine?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 25August 23, 2014 6:45 AM

No, he didn't die from the small pox vaccine--otherwise we would have seen lots of reporters dying from the small pox vaccine.

by Anonymousreply 26August 23, 2014 1:27 PM

[quote]Wasn't it speculated upon that the massive rounds of vaccines and shots he had to take prior to embarking may have played a role in his premature demise.

No Jenny McCarthy, he died of deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot that can form in the major veins of the legs or pelvis due to prolonged periods of physical immobility. That's why they tell you to get up and walk around when on a very long flight.

by Anonymousreply 27August 23, 2014 1:32 PM

This is goodlooking?

by Anonymousreply 28August 23, 2014 1:46 PM

More on Richard Engel being "possibly gay"

by Anonymousreply 29August 23, 2014 1:58 PM

Yeah, R29. I thought he was definitely gay. Hath DL not ruled?

by Anonymousreply 30August 23, 2014 2:00 PM

He had slept in a tank in the fetal position and while walking to the latrine upon awakening, he collapsed and died from DVT.

I found it strange that his brother mentioned in his eulogy that David was on the verge of overcoming his demons. I assumed he meant alcohol or drugs, but perhaps it was something else?

by Anonymousreply 31August 23, 2014 2:05 PM

[quote] I'm really scared of developing and dying from a blood clot. What causes them? What are the symptoms? How will I know if I have one?

R13, I'm not a doctor but I play one on DL. The foremost known cause of DVT is fear of having it. The first symptoms of it are excessive curiosity. Now, where is our condolence troll?

by Anonymousreply 32August 23, 2014 5:12 PM

I had the biggest crush on him and when he left The Today Show weekend anchor I was sad, even sadder when he died.

by Anonymousreply 33August 23, 2014 7:29 PM

OP, you're out of your mind.

by Anonymousreply 34August 23, 2014 7:55 PM

One of those guys who wanted to play soldier.

Nothing wrong with that, but this was a real war in a real tank that was too small for an extra guy.

by Anonymousreply 35August 23, 2014 10:44 PM

Is there anyone on here that had sex with him?

by Anonymousreply 36September 2, 2014 3:03 AM

Photos of face please.

by Anonymousreply 37September 2, 2014 5:45 AM

R31, he was well-known as a sex addict; almost all female interns were hit on by him. More than a few accepted. He was hot!

Therefore stories of him with a man make sense and fall in line with a typical sex addict's behavior.

by Anonymousreply 38September 2, 2014 6:17 AM

Clueless about David Bloom. But I remember David Brinkley.

by Anonymousreply 39September 2, 2014 6:26 AM

"Therefore stories of him with a man make sense and fall in line with a typical sex addict's behavior."

What about admitted sex addict Michael Douglas?

by Anonymousreply 40September 2, 2014 11:28 AM

Reading this really triggers my Claustrophobia. I can't breathe...

r18 is thinking of Bob Woodruff.

Witnesses said he only took a few steps away from the tank and collapsed, dying instantly.

by Anonymousreply 43September 2, 2014 11:45 AM

"Yoo-hoo, Mr. Bloom!"

by Anonymousreply 44September 3, 2014 12:12 AM

Bloom had to go to sex addiction rehab.

by Anonymousreply 45February 19, 2017 12:31 AM

A friend saw him in the shower and said he had nice dick and bush

by Anonymousreply 46February 19, 2017 12:57 AM

I just saw David Bloom on the Smithsonian Channel's "Lost Tapes" show about the DC sniper. He was a handsome hunk with a very sexy mouth. I wish I could have helped him with his sex addiction.

by Anonymousreply 47December 3, 2018 6:50 AM

David Bloom, St. Patrick's?

by Anonymousreply 48December 3, 2018 6:54 AM

R31 David’s demon was sex addiction. He apparently went to rehab.

by Anonymousreply 49December 3, 2018 6:56 AM

He always came across smarmy and self involved.

by Anonymousreply 50December 3, 2018 12:59 PM

Bloom was overzealous about war.
