Do you have moobs?

I do. I've had them since I was a fat child. Now I'm a thin adult in my late 20s and they're still here, smaller, but still there. I guess what they say is true about the fat cells never going away. I've learned to embrace my titties. There are dudes into feminine shaped males like myself. But now I need to think about what's going to happen when they start sagging. A bro perhaps?

by Anonymousreply 47August 7, 2019 1:49 AM

Have you lifted weights and tried getting muscles? Shouldn't you get rid of extra fat with right excercise and nutrition?

by Anonymousreply 1July 26, 2014 2:57 PM

Yes and no, R1.

If it's solely due to fat from being overweight, then exercise can help.

If OP is thin and there are signs of breast enlargement, he also could have had mild gynecomastia. That will not go away from exercise any more than a woman's breasts would.

Surgery will do it.

by Anonymousreply 2July 26, 2014 3:18 PM

r1, I do have good nutrition habits because I've been a hardcore dieter since high school, which is how I stopped by self from becoming an overweight adult. I could exercise more though.

by Anonymousreply 3July 26, 2014 3:20 PM

Pec deck. Chest flies.

by Anonymousreply 4July 26, 2014 3:24 PM

Bitch tits.

by Anonymousreply 5July 26, 2014 3:27 PM

Yes, I'm bi-polar.

by Anonymousreply 6July 26, 2014 3:28 PM

Yeah that's true R2. I've for many years watched UK show Embarrassing Bodies and it has had few guys with moobs there. I took a look as a reminder at couple of the cases at Youtube and I guess OP you might go see doctor so they can tell if there's breast tissue there of if it's just pure fat.

Google 'embarrassing bodies gynecomastia' so you'll see those videos. I'm not sure if those are geo-blocked, though.

by Anonymousreply 7July 26, 2014 3:45 PM

Mansierre, OP!

by Anonymousreply 8July 26, 2014 3:56 PM

If you have an actual medical hormone problem, instead of being fat, working the pecs will only make the problem more pronounced.

by Anonymousreply 9July 26, 2014 4:22 PM

Why don't you just get liposuction? Duh.

by Anonymousreply 10July 26, 2014 4:29 PM

I gave up on trying to get flat pecs, it's not happening. I worked out like a clown for 15 years, and had a nice body, but nothing to turn heads. Now, I don't give a hairy boob what anyone thinks.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2014 4:32 PM

[quote]If you have an actual medical hormone problem, instead of being fat, working the pecs will only make the problem more pronounced.

Yeah, which is why I pretty much stick to cardio for exercise. I don't have a hormone problem as far as I know. I've never had blood work done specifically for that.

I do get compliments on my chest when my clothes are on. I guess people think my moobs are pecs...but when the shirt comes off, false advertising!

by Anonymousreply 12July 26, 2014 5:33 PM

You should go to a plastic surgeon. If you have breast tissue, it will not go away from working out or dieting. The surgery is not tat expensive-around $4k- and it isnt that invasive. I had it done this summer, after thinking about it for years. I wish I had done it sooner. The dr told me that some people are just unlucky to get fat-ish around the time of pueberty. Liposuction and the extraction of breast tissue is the only thing that will work.

by Anonymousreply 13July 26, 2014 6:20 PM

r13, how old are you? Is the scarring bad?

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2014 6:31 PM

Moods can be hot!

by Anonymousreply 15July 26, 2014 6:36 PM

R12, gynecomastia is not a result of a hormone problem. Men with the condition do not have a hormone imbalance. If it happened, the exposure may have been very early in childhood or during puberty. And if cardio is not burning it off, you may have it. You should try exercises to see. It wouldn't be permanent. Muscle growth will return to normal if you don't keep up the exercises.

If you're getting compliments on your chest, maybe it's not that pronounced. But you started this thread to express some concern. And you are expressing some sense of a negative reaction to having your shirt off, which suggests that it is bothering you.

I'm not a plastic surgeon (though I am surgeon). I have colleagues who see guys like R13, well in their 30s or older, who waited to get it done and missed out on years of dating, sex, relationships, etc. For years it affected their sense of pride in themselves, how they carried themselves, and how they related to other people, and not just in situations where they didn't want to take off their shirts (though that happens enough in life to make it serious).

If I had a teenage son who had the condition, I would never encourage surgery, but if I could see that he was struggling with it, I'd tell him not to be ashamed, that it might pass with puberty, and I would help him exercise and tell him if it didn't pass, I would help him get the surgery. It's safe. With a good surgeon, the results are quite positive, especially if the condition is slight, like yours seems to be.

by Anonymousreply 16July 26, 2014 6:37 PM

I'm 35. The scarring is minimal. They cut in the dark area on the bottom of the nipple. There is swelling, the dr said it takes about 4/5 months for everything to settle.

by Anonymousreply 17July 26, 2014 6:46 PM

The amount of swelling depends on the degree of gynecomastia. You wear compression after surgery for a couple of days, which prevents fluid buildup. Olive oil and other emollients can ease scarring. The stitches normally dissolve.

People are who active and in good health heal much more quickly.

by Anonymousreply 18July 26, 2014 6:50 PM

OP, gynecomastia isn't your fault. You could have been rail thin as a kid and still have had it.

r16 is right. The only way to get rid of it is with surgery. It's pretty easy and you'll feel much better about yourself afterwards.

by Anonymousreply 19July 26, 2014 6:52 PM

[quote]The only way to get rid of it is with surgery. It's pretty easy

The doctors told that guy in another thread that his circumcision would be easy. He woke up without a dick.

by Anonymousreply 20July 26, 2014 7:12 PM

R19, thank you, especially for emphasizing that this is not the fault of the person for having the condition. It happens to many boys (and therefore men). The same is true for being overweight as a kid.

Just to make sure I was not clear, I want to emphasize that I'm only saying based on what OP has described, it is possible that gynecomastia is the cause, but even if it is not, surgery is an option.

By saying it's an option, I'm emphasizing this because of OP's posts expressing having received negative reaction. It may not be that negative in fact but that is how OP perceives it. I'm also taking OP's general description of his physique and training to assume he is thin and despite a lot of cardio that hasn't changed his condition.

But I would say cardio does not always target every fat deposit. If he has been avoiding weight training, even light training targeting his chests, he should try it. The muscle growth will not permanently increase the size of his breasts. After abandoning the exercise, the muscle should decrease back to normal.

But if it is bothering him, he should see a doctor. At your next annual / bi-annual checkup, ask your primary care physician to look at your chest and see if he thinks it might be gyneocmastia. Ask for a referral to a plastic surgeon who can do more analysis. There's minimal cost for these examinations and then you can make an informed decision.

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2014 7:18 PM

I guess I like "feminine shaped boys". I never heard that expression but I do like a little bit of titty and a big ass on a man.

by Anonymousreply 22July 26, 2014 8:53 PM

R22, who are some examples of "feminine shaped boys"?

by Anonymousreply 23July 26, 2014 8:59 PM

[R23] John Cusack for one. My neighbor for another , bald, flabby, big ass, big tits and has driven me wild for the last 3 years. He mows the lawn in gym shorts and suddenly I find trash in the house that must, just must be removed immediately. Out to the dumpster to gawk, hoping I don't trip and break my leg.

by Anonymousreply 24July 26, 2014 9:15 PM

[quote][R12], gynecomastia is not a result of a hormone problem. Men with the condition do not have a hormone imbalance. If it happened, the exposure may have been very early in childhood or during puberty.

r16, when you say exposure, what do you mean?

[quote]But you started this thread to express some concern. And you are expressing some sense of a negative reaction to having your shirt off, which suggests that it is bothering you.

It bothers me, but of course when you're living in your own head you think people notice things way more than they do. I've undergone a few transformations in appearance. I was really content when I lost weight and I was just happy that I was healthier, had a jawline, and that I could wear regular clothes. I think I'm reaching a point years later where I'm no longer content with just that.

Surgery is not an option for me at the moment, I can't afford it. But I will definitely consider later it after reading these responses! It sounds pretty straight forward. I will try exercising more in the meantime. But I know once I get in my 30s it gets more difficult work on this lifelong issue through exercise.

by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2014 9:34 PM

[quote] He mows the lawn in gym shorts and suddenly I find trash in the house that must, just must be removed immediately. Out to the dumpster to gawk, hoping I don't trip and break my leg.

That is the saddest story I've ever heard.

by Anonymousreply 26July 26, 2014 9:35 PM

[R26] Yes it is, he doesn't even know I am alive.

by Anonymousreply 27July 26, 2014 9:40 PM

OP / R25, we're exposed to hormones as fetuses and in their own bodies once we're born. The balance of hormones in the womb often produce the appearance of breasts in babies. When we grow up, our bodies go through all sorts of hormonal changes and we're exposed to the hormones produced by our own body, the balance of which affect how we masculinize or feminize (or both). So flat chested thin little children suddenly develop all sorts of physical characteristics associated with gender. Many boys, because of the balance of hormones, develop temporary gynecomastia that goes away after awhile. The theory is that this occurs because of continued hormonal masculinizing development. We do not know why in other boys it does not go away, but as in females who develop small to large breasts, it's probably due to the balance of hormones that are produced in the body from puberty to early adulthood.

At your age, this is probably the general body you will have until middle age or older age in terms of masculinization. Just like some women grow whiskers and have lower voices, some men develop gynecomastia in old age, which may or may not be due to drops of testosterone. We don't know for sure.

The cost of surgery seems like a lot and I feel for people who can't afford it, but the most important thing as you yourself said and others have said is not to let it define you. You may find that you can afford it if you save up for it.

In the meantime, I still suggest you talk to your primary care physician. EVERY guy your age should have a physical for a variety of reasons (testicular exam, blood sugar, cholesterol, etc.) and your insurance should cover it. Your physician should be able to tell you if it appears to be gynecomastia and can give you options.

And you never know, because you were overweight as a child in your case you may find that the "moobage" is simply residual fatty tissue, depending on how hard you currently have been training. You can at least try the exercises below at no cost, and if you're lucky, you won't need surgery.

And if you do have gynecomastia, your doctor can help you feel better about it. If you need a gay doctor, contact the GLMA. They can help you find one in your area.

I meant "in our own bodies". I started to write "children". Shouldn't have started this so late.

We must, we must , we must increase our bust!

by Anonymousreply 30July 27, 2014 4:06 AM

A slender guy with moobs can be heavenly in bed. You may find someone who thinks you're perfect, OP.

by Anonymousreply 31July 27, 2014 3:31 PM

Moobs or pecs?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 32July 28, 2014 6:26 PM

r31, that is why I really haven't considered do anything about my tits until now, that Im getting a little older. I dont know how desirable this is going to look in 10 years :)

Those are pecs r32. Notice how they are defined all the way across his chest!

Thanks for all the advice r28, especially about the GLMA. This guy's chest below looks the most similar to mine, but my body frame is a little smaller. Im actually trying to lose about 15 pounds that I gained back, in the last couple of years. I do remember that my chest went down a lot before I gained the 15 lbs. But like I said before, it's going be more and more difficult for me to lose those 15 pounds of vanity weight when I hit my 30s, just so my chest can look normal. I am definitely going to try to do this in the next couple of years.

Get surgery, and quit yer bitchin'.

by Anonymousreply 34July 31, 2014 2:43 AM

I've noticed more and more young boys developing gynecomastia. It wasn't so when I was a teenager. But then again obesity wasn't such a huge problem in Europe back in the late 80s early 90s.

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2015 1:14 PM

It sounds like gynomastia. You should have your testosterone, estrogen and prolactin levels checked. Elevated estrogen or prolactin can cause gyno.

by Anonymousreply 36April 11, 2015 1:21 PM

I developed an eating disorder trying to get rid of mine. No matter how thin I got or how many push-ups and chest exercises I did, they were still there and still pretty much the same size. I was a teenager and it was the 90s so I didn't have a lot of information about what caused them. I gained weight and figured that it was just fat. Once I figured it they were breast tissue and not fat, I considered surgery. I had the surgery to remove them about 10 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did for myself.

by Anonymousreply 37April 11, 2015 1:32 PM

Is surgery a good option if you scar? I think nonwhites scar and develop keloids. Jwes too.

by Anonymousreply 38April 11, 2015 2:18 PM

I probably have mild gynecomastia. I’ve always thought I had kind of a feminine body (aforementioned gynecomastia and a high waist). It bothered my mother a lot when I was young, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have thought much of it. She was quite obviously embarrassed and it gave me a complex for a long time.

But I don’t care anymore. It’s not something I care to have officially diagnosed and I’d never have surgery for it in a million years. I’ve had relationships and a generally active sex life, so evidently quite a few men have found me attractive. Why should I fuck with it?

by Anonymousreply 42August 7, 2019 12:28 AM

[quote] It bothered my mother a lot when I was young,

Why?

by Anonymousreply 43August 7, 2019 12:50 AM

R43, she’s extremely narcissistic and makes everything about her. My older brother was very lean/in shape/athletic, and I think she compared me to him in her mind. He was the golden child - that’s what boys should be like, in her mind, and the fact that I wasn’t embarrassed her. She couldn’t brag about me the way she could him.

She also probably knew I was gay and anything about me that was effeminate made her uncomfortable. What would people think? Would they think she was a terrible mother?

by Anonymousreply 44August 7, 2019 1:37 AM

Shake those fat titties, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 45August 7, 2019 1:42 AM

Having a really developed chest gave me over 40 moobs. It still looks like developed chest but I'd love them to be flatter.
