Best Matt Damon movie ever. Agree or disagree?
It's not a horrible movie, but it had most of the excesses of a Cameron Crowe movie with little of the charm. Scar Jo was rather good, better than Damon in fact. The little kid was just too precious.

The best Damon movie? Are you kidding? Nowhere near it. The Departed and Good Will Hunting are far better.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 20, 2014 1:41 AM |
The Talented Mr. Ripley
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 20, 2014 1:42 AM |
Blech. Not Damon's fault at all but still, blech. Also, it had the dread Scarlet Johanssen - always the sign of a terrible movie.
The Talented Mr. Ripley and the first Bourne movie are probably Damon's best.
I've really liked him in some of his weirder roles (The Informant!, the Liberace pic), but most people don't share that opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 20, 2014 1:43 AM |
The one with Julia Stiles.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 20, 2014 1:44 AM |
It was better than I thought it would, be though his kids were uber annoying. But it may have been because it was two of my flights within a couple days of each other?
I pray Damon does not come back of the 5th Bourne movie with Renner. He has a perfect trilogy. Don't jump into the shitfest of this new sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 20, 2014 1:52 AM |
R7 he doesn't really have a lot of choice. His career has gone cold, to some degree due to this crappy movie.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 20, 2014 2:12 AM |
And the terrible tracking movie he did. I tried to watch it twice, but could not get into it even though the topic was important and it had good actors.
That movie he did with Jodie Foster last year was complete shit. Copley overacted, Jodie was trying to do some weird and distracting French/British/Scandinavian accent to come off as upper class, and the script was messy, along with pacing. A lot of that was where a director should have corrected.
He needs to sit down and figure out where he is going with his career. He can't fall back on directing like Ben has. Plus, Ben is playing Batman, which at least one good things is that they bought in someone to fix the script. Snyder needs a strong script to go with his visuals and he usually does not have it.

"And the terrible tracking movie he did"
Which one?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 20, 2014 2:25 AM |
fracking
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 20, 2014 2:28 AM |
I puked all the way through it. Horrible, horrible waste of time.
And he looked so fat and unhealthy.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 20, 2014 2:32 AM |
My goodness, R12. I hope you went to the emergency room afterward.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 20, 2014 2:36 AM |
He's got a problem. A few years ago he got all the choice roles for actors his age. Now he's competing (for the few good roles) with Affleck, McConaughey, Phoenix, Bale, Cooper, Di Caprio, etc. They're all between 38-44. He's not getting the pick of roles which explains fracking movie, horrible pic with Foster, and Zoo. Monuments Men was a disaster too.

I read the book, though have not seen the movie. One fact I recall was that the father mentions that the family dog is gay, and they intend to find him a boyfriend.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 20, 2014 7:42 PM |
I was a fan of Cameron Crowe until I watched Elizabethtown. The movie makes no sense and Orlando Bloom is totally unconvincing as a human. I had no idea he was such a shitty actor. I guess i assumed he was decent because he was in LOTR.

[quote]Although reluctant at first, Mee decides to buy the zoo when he sees Rosie happily playing with the peacocks. Dylan, however, hates the idea of moving away from his friends and retreats into his artwork which has grown more macabre since the death of his mother. Benjamin's brother, Duncan (Thomas Haden Church), tries to dissuade him from the purchase, but Benjamin buys it anyway. The zoo staff, led by the 28-year old head keeper, Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson), help to start renovating the zoo with the intent to reopen it to the public. When Kelly confronts Benjamin about why he bought a zoo, knowing nothing about running one, Benjamin simply responds "Why not?".

Thanks, R50 . You didn't have to be so obliging.
You sound like a very nice person. What the hell are you doing on DL?
Just kidding. We need a token nice person.
I only meant that being a zoo, and considering all of the threads about Damon's juicy, woman-like ass/buttocks, that any zebra/ equine animal would be jealous of his "ass" (figurative and literal).
Obviously, the joke loses its humor when one has to explain it. I failed.
No worries.
Just enjoy the other posts.
You must be a mensch/good guy.

I was in the Budapest Zoo when a hippopotamus let his bladder loose. He peed all over another hippopotamus, who was not phased in the least and didn't move - AND, it was like a fire hose for what seemed like 5 full minutes, at least. I kid you not. It was just before camera phones became common or I'd have taken a photo, or many photos.

I've grown to feel bad for sexy actresses, as their shelf life isn't really that long. What, maybe 10 years? Is Scarlet any good as an actress? (Aside from a sex object, I mean?)
Matt has since done very well. He carried the Mars movie almost entirely by himself.
