Hot guys defacing their bodies with God-awful tattoos

I don't know when this shit became all the rage, but it has GOT to stop.

by Anonymousreply 89January 22, 2018 7:26 AM

Any permanent ink on your body is god-awful.

Have the need to ink something? Get a journal and write it down.

by Anonymousreply 1July 9, 2014 9:58 PM

Know what's got to stop? These boring anti-tat threads. We get it.

That being said, I'm not a fan of chest tattoos.

by Anonymousreply 2July 9, 2014 10:01 PM

We need to start a rumor that there's something awful in the newer ink.

by Anonymousreply 3July 9, 2014 10:04 PM

Thanks for stopping into this boring thread, R2. I'm sure they'll stop when guys finally stop doing this shit to themselves. My soul just died a little today when I logged onto cam4 and saw that one of my favorite twinks (the guy on the right) went and defaced himself in an obvious attempt to look more like his bf. I used to love this kid's body…now I wish he'd put a shirt on.

by Anonymousreply 4July 9, 2014 10:07 PM

What r2 said. I need no further proof than these anti-tattoo threads to prove DL is overrun by crotchety old queens that sound worse than my late grandma.

Yes, a lot of tats are ugly, I would never get one, but I've never found a hot guy less attractive because of his tats.

by Anonymousreply 5July 9, 2014 10:09 PM

I was at pool over the weekend--all the hideous tattoos that look like huge black bruises were on full display.

Apparently they get less distinct as time passes: is that a fair assumption?

by Anonymousreply 6July 9, 2014 10:16 PM

I'm in my mid-30s, is that old? I don't remember guys doing this to themselves even a decade ago. It's an absolute boner killer for me. Worse than smoking.

by Anonymousreply 7July 9, 2014 10:18 PM

I resolved to stop posting in anti-tatt threads because they never go anywhere, but I guess I can't help myself.

There's a guy in my class in his mid-thirties. Latino, nice body, really sexy silver streak in his hair. Wears clothes extremely well, and I bet if most of you guys saw him in a suit, we could use your hard-ons to find water.

Take him out of the suit, and he's got a lot of tattoos. Makes me look unblemished, and I have more than most people in my class (ah, the advantages of OMT lab). The thing is, he's still the same sexy, confident, nice guy, but you'd all clutch your pearls and fall on your fainting couches just because he defiled himself with "ugly ink." The tattoos don't add to his hotness, per se, but they don't take anything away from it either.

by Anonymousreply 8July 9, 2014 10:21 PM

I really like them because they are a big Fuck YOU to snotty queens like the OP

by Anonymousreply 9July 9, 2014 10:25 PM

Why do people who dislike the anti-tattoo threads always raise the same tiresome arguments? You're a pearl-clutching granny if you think they're hideous. Even worse, you're OLD and out-of-touch because you aren't enamoured with them.

You're defending a fashion trend.

You might as well be marching down Broadway in favor of people who want to wear Dockers.

by Anonymousreply 10July 9, 2014 10:28 PM
Why do people who dislike the anti-tattoo threads always raise the same tiresome arguments

Probably because the people who start the anti-tattoo threads also use THEIR same tiresome arguments.

I don't hate them. They can be very sexy on a guy. But design and placement are everything.

Face, neck and ass tattoos don't belong on anyone - I don't care how gorgeous and charismatic the guy is.

I have also noticed that if a young guy is ink free, it's almost an anomaly. A beautiful body looks very different if there are no tattoos.

by Anonymousreply 19July 9, 2014 10:59 PM

OP must have spent the 1990s under a rock. How else could he have missed the tribal tattoo craze followed by the Celtic knot craze?

by Anonymousreply 20July 9, 2014 11:18 PM

I remember the tribal tattoo craze, but those were small compared to the abominations that are being rolled out today. And another thing--why are so many guys getting stars tattooed across their bodies? What's the obsession with stars?

by Anonymousreply 21July 9, 2014 11:30 PM

Tattoos are a form of "socially legitimized self-harm."

by Anonymousreply 22July 10, 2014 12:17 AM
I don't remember guys doing this to themselves even a decade ago.

Obviously, there were people who did this a decade ago. What OP should have said was that it did not seem so overwhelmingly pervasive even as little as five years ago. Tattoos have obviously been around for quite some time, sure, but it seems like now the trend is for everyone to have dozens of them everywhere all over their body. You can hardly walk down the street without seeing women and men with tats up and down their bodies.
The tattoos don't add to his hotness, per se, but they don't take anything away from it either.

Well, not to you. But to others they do. Because this is a matter of taste and preference, what one person legitimately likes another legitimately may not.

by Anonymousreply 23July 10, 2014 12:23 AM

OP, scroll up and you will see someone has posted pictures of guys from ten years ago displaying what you described. This is nothing new. Incidentally, you are responding exactly the way these guys want you to. They love knowing they are getting a rise from uptight conformists. If you really want to show your disdain the best thing you can do is ignore them. It should be easy to do considering it's really none of your business.

by Anonymousreply 24July 10, 2014 12:24 AM

I could not agree more, OP.

Tattoos are like suicide... a permanent "solution" to a temporary whim.

The human body is beautiful as it is. I have nothing but contempt for people who scrawl ugly graffiti all over it. It's like tagging Michelangelo's David.

It should be a crime.

I think it's a definite sign of mental illness.

by Anonymousreply 25July 10, 2014 12:28 AM
but I've never found a hot guy less attractive because of his tats.

That's a hyperbolic lie. I'm just not sure whether you're lying to us, or just to yourself.

There are a ton of hot guys that have made themselves FAR less attractive via ugly tats.

by Anonymousreply 26July 10, 2014 12:30 AM
Incidentally, OP, you are responding exactly the way these guys want you to.

More evidence they suffer from mental illness.
They love knowing they are getting a rise from uptight conformists.

Excuse me? GETTING a tattoo is "conformist" these days... the OP's example being a perfect one (one BF getting one to look more like the other BF). And there's nothing "uptight" about hating ugly scrap destroying a beautiful body.

by Anonymousreply 27July 10, 2014 12:31 AM

I have never had any interest in tattoos. I don't find them attractive, but the attitude here about them is ridiculous. How many times do we have to have this stupid argument?

Don't like tattoos. Don't get one. If somebody decides to get one, it's none of your damn business.

by Anonymousreply 28July 10, 2014 12:38 AM

R27. Sorry, I should have been more clear. It's there perception that people like OP are conformists. OPs reaction gives them the validation they need. They crave the attention and if it's negative attention, all the better.

by Anonymousreply 29July 10, 2014 12:47 AM
It's there perception...

Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 30July 10, 2014 12:54 AM

Exactly R28. There was a time I thought I wanted one, but I couldn't make up my mind as to exactly what I wanted. Eventually I realized I wanted a tattoo just for the sake of having one, and for me, that was not a good enough reason. Getting upset because someone has a tattoo is like getting upset with someone who puts bumper stickers all over their car. It's hurting no one and it's none of my business. It's not worth the time or energy.

by Anonymousreply 31July 10, 2014 12:58 AM
GETTING a tattoo is "conformist" these days

It sure seems that way.

by Anonymousreply 32July 10, 2014 1:16 AM

When we were kids in the 70s, we were told tattoos were trashy. I've always felt that way about them. Unfortunately, a lot of things that were considered trashy or low class seem to have become the norm which is maddening.

by Anonymousreply 33July 10, 2014 2:10 AM
It should be a crime.

Oh, Mary!

Classic conservative mindset. Outlaw something that hurts no one simply because of some outdated attitude.

by Anonymousreply 34July 10, 2014 3:14 AM

Yes, Mary!

Because it's wrong... SHOCKINGLY wrong!

by Anonymousreply 38July 10, 2014 4:12 AM

Because so many guys are getting tattoos now, I think it's gotten very, very boring. A mostly rebellious act (unless it was the military, in which case it was often a mark of honor and service) has been co-opted and is now totally mainstream. Most tattoos look tacky from the start and will fade away into a blurry, misshapen blob on wrinkled skin. Not a fan.

by Anonymousreply 39July 10, 2014 6:34 AM

Yawn. Another anti-tattoo thread. How very original of you, OP.

It's less the tattoos and more that most tattoos today are horrible. It's none of my business, yes, but like when I walk into a terribly decorated house and think "you paid for this?", I look at most people's tattoos and think they deserve one or one-hundred refunds.

I glanced at this and thought it said "Hot Guys Defecating" and thought DL had finally gone too far.

by Anonymousreply 45July 10, 2014 11:07 AM
I don't remember guys doing this to themselves even a decade ago.

Tattooing was absolutely mainstream a decade ago, no question. I'd say it started picking up steam in the late 1990s and by the time the book [italic]Etiquette for Outlaws[/italic] came out in 2001, tattoos were very common.

by Anonymousreply 46July 10, 2014 11:38 AM

O wow, an anti-tattoo thread! Cool! So novel, so fresh. Now if only we could have a thread about The View or Janet Jackson, then things would really get interesting.

by Anonymousreply 47July 10, 2014 4:56 PM

Tats used to be more covered up. Now, they are in your face, all the time. I work with the public, and I am surprised at the amount tats on the face, neck, chest. People have writing up their arm that looks like prison tats. I saw a very unattractive design across someone's forehead.

by Anonymousreply 48July 10, 2014 5:21 PM

It's not my business when someone gets a tattoo, but if they have one on their neck or face, it makes me think there's something wrong mentally with them.

by Anonymousreply 49July 10, 2014 11:21 PM

It's fine if you're already accomplished, but if you're young and interviewing for a conventional job, you don't want to be showing tats at the edge of your clothing.

by Anonymousreply 50July 10, 2014 11:22 PM

You lie, OP.

You said your post was about HOT guys and tats.

So post some pics of hot guys, not those . . . things . . . in your initial post.

by Anonymousreply 51July 10, 2014 11:42 PM

I wish I knew the psychology behind it. Isn't the goal NOT to become disfigured, through accidents, disease, etc.?

I would find it reckless, immature and demeaning.

by Anonymousreply 52July 10, 2014 11:52 PM

I can handle minimal tats. The problem is a lot of them are just catch as catch can, and sort of random.

The star of David will get me going on most guys, though.

by Anonymousreply 53July 11, 2014 1:15 AM

This guy will make you shit yourself OP.

by Anonymousreply 54July 11, 2014 4:44 AM

Tattoos may have started to become commonplace by the late '90s -- heck, even I considered getting one -- but they were mostly tribal tattoos or somewhere discreet. It wasn't until the past 10 years that more people started getting sleeves and pretty much body tattoos. Before, those types were reserved for circus/side show freaks.

by Anonymousreply 55July 11, 2014 4:50 AM

A fuck buddy in addiction recovery told he he'd been in my apartment building before, driving an young couple home from an N A meeting.

Daddy bought his princess a condo.

The girl has a fully tattooed throat. The guy has one on his forehead.

by Anonymousreply 56July 11, 2014 4:57 AM

Anyone who didn't know what OP meant by "I don't remember guys doing this to themselves even a decade ago." is the human equivalent of a tattoo.

by Anonymousreply 57July 11, 2014 5:39 AM

If I wanna see art, I can go to a fuckin' art museum. Or see it online. I don't need to see it on skin.

Yes, r10, it's just some flash-in-the-pan fad that's only been around in western society since sailors started coming back from the Pacific in the 1700s. I've never known a time when tattoos weren't reasonably common, although the favoured style and placement have changed with time. I guess I grew up with trash. R39, tattoos only blur and fade badly if they're subjected to a lot of sun damage. I have a 20yr old tattoo that's quite detailed and the fine lines and colors are still perfectly distinguishable. I'm glad that people have different tastes and all, but judging someone as mentally ill because they get some tattoos is ridiculous. None of you tattoo haters sound like anyone I'd want to sleep or even converse with (seriously, how bland can a person get?). Let's just agree that the contempt is mutual, yes?

by Anonymousreply 61July 11, 2014 7:05 AM

You're going to end up alone and lonely, OP.

by Anonymousreply 62July 11, 2014 7:42 AM

Sometimes, I see a really hot, good looking guy and I find him hot but then I notice a really ugly tat on him, straight away, I question his intelligence, his taste and his attractiveness is discounted by 50%. It's good in a way, prevents me from wasting my time with them.

Just go to the beach, ugly tat and ugly bodies everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 63July 11, 2014 7:44 AM

Not while I'm around.

by Anonymousreply 64July 11, 2014 7:46 AM

He feels the same way about you

by Anonymousreply 65July 11, 2014 7:50 AM

Younger generations will turn away in disgust by a population of old people with ugly tats and it will no longer be popular for the young ones to get them. Tattoos may never go away entirely, but someday they'll will be much less popular.

by Anonymousreply 66July 11, 2014 8:28 AM

Agree with R63 and posters about excessive tats, such as Beckham. It's the absence of some form or theme, the randomness that makes body art so unattractive and offputting, such as R38 and R54 examples . Tats that have form/theme can be attractive and actually enhance a person's appearance, such as Maori chest, sleeve and puhoro tats.

by Anonymousreply 67July 11, 2014 11:05 AM

Like R66 said, in 15-20 years it'll be all these 40-somethings whose bodies are going to seed, covered in tattoos, and their teenage kids won't be quite so interested in getting "like, totally inked".

by Anonymousreply 68July 11, 2014 11:24 AM

Some of my favorite porn stars have recently begun ruining themselves with fuck-ugly tattoos. Thank God for '80s porn. Pure, unadulterated male bodies free of distraction. There is nothing hotter.

Looks fade and those tattoos will linger on.

That said - a few tattoos can look amazing and very sexy. It's all about moderation and great choices. One incredible tattoo to say it all. The guy at the link is a damn mess.

by Anonymousreply 73July 11, 2014 2:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 79July 20, 2014 12:30 AM

Sure, defacing his face may make him "famous" (and for all the wrong reasons)...but how's he gonna pay his bills? Fame alone doesn't pay the rent & I don't see many paying gigs in his future. What an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 86January 22, 2018 6:34 AM

It's nothing more than a pathetic' look at me' statement from a desperate loser craving attention.

by Anonymousreply 87January 22, 2018 6:41 AM

I've thought for a long time that hard-core criminals, repeat offenders and pedophiles who are not incarcerated for life (as they ought to be) should at least be forced to have "GUILTY" tattooed on their foreheads as punishment for their crimes and mostly as a warning to others that they are dangerous.

But the guy in R78 link voluntarily had GUILTY stamped on his forehead. Well, at least everyone who sees his face will know he's crazy instead of having to guess as usual and then find out he's mental after the fact, when it's too late.

by Anonymousreply 88January 22, 2018 7:10 AM

Tattoos give people no rights to show off their fleshy canvasses. Cover those fat upper arms. Wear long pants or a skirt and cover those hams you call thighs. I don't want to see ink, flab or cankles on men or women.
