What Does Meth Smell Like?

Sounds like meth to me - meth has a pungent chlorine bleach-y odor. It's entirely possible for the scent to waft into your apartment from an adjacent neighbor's.

Thanks R2. I do live in an old building. It has been going on for months now. It's not overwhelming, just kind of annoying.

The thought that it might be something like meth only occurred to me recently.

One of my neighbors (husband, wife, two little kids) was cooking meth. Another neighbor kept complaining about the stench. I didn't smell it but I had before and her description fit. Someone finally called the meth squad and reported them.

For months after that we would periodically see a hazmat crew working there. They finally took part of the house down to the frame because they couldn't get the smell out of there.

The city rat poison people come late at night and the smell always wafts in through the mail slit in my front door (unless rats are secretly cohabiting with me after climbing the door to the slot but I would think I would hear them running around).

Just asked my BF who had an addiction 10+ yrs ago, he said as far as he remembers, it smells a lot like burning plastic, but he also said that with all the checmicals added/used in the making of it, the only constant in the smell is that it's a harsh chemical smell.

I had to breakup with the tina. I was waking up in strange places, giving my hole to anyone. And I do mean anyone. I was one of the lucky ones, didn't get anyone and was able to quite without rehab.

It was total, pure hell. To this day (four years clean) I still have tremors, memory problems, and plaque in the brain that makes living just fantastic.

A new guy at work comes in every morning with this weird rotten fruit smell on him and he's clearly fucked up on something. A co-worker said it's meth but that doesn't seem to match what was written here.
