I'm watching Mama's Family on dvd

Allan Kayser, who played Bubba, was so hot and had a huge dick ( bulge). What happened to him and how can I fly him here to Chicago to fuck me?

I want some...I want some of that so bad.

by Anonymousreply 3May 20, 2014 5:37 AM

What does he do now, career-wise?

by Anonymousreply 4May 20, 2014 3:46 PM

He sells Harley's.

by Anonymousreply 5May 20, 2014 7:59 PM

You were watching Mama's Family at 1:00am in the morning? Oh dear..

W&W for r12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 13May 21, 2014 9:02 PM

He pretty much retired after Mama's Family, although he's gotten back into acting a tiny bit in the last decade. Just obscure straight-to-video stuff.

I saw a clip of him on a Vicki's talk-show with the entire Mama's Family cast, and he acted embarrassed to have been in a 1986 horror movie called Night of the Creeps. Yes it sounds really cheesy, but actually it was a cult favorite with groundbreaking effects at the time. I was kind of annoyed he didn't seem to realize that.

And now he's come crawling back to low-budget horror with his latest appearances.

by Anonymousreply 14May 21, 2014 9:03 PM

Take a number, OP. I've had a thing for this guy since the '80s. His bulge and ass in those "painted-on" jeans in Mama's Family were truly a sight to behold. He friended me on FB quite some time ago (I just HAD to send him a request, lol). He's really personable and he talks to the fans.

He does sell Harleys and he lives in Colorado, which is his home state (he went to high school at Columbine). He has two grown kids (a son and a daughter). Allan had grown his hair all the way down his back a few years ago, but he cut if off again. He does a lot of the conventions, and was selling a signed copy of the new box set of Mama's Family on Ebay recently.

He's probably even more embarrassed by HOT CHILI, the horrible b-movie sex comedy he starred in before NIGHT OF THE CREEPS. It's so bad that it's kind of a chore to sit through, but seeing Allan nude from the pelvis up in a pool scene and wearing shorts and briefs in various other scenes make up for it.

[quote]Jill Larson says people come up to her at least twice a week to say how much they love her om Mama's Family

I am somewhat of an expert on all things "Mama's Family" (I know) and I have no idea who Jill Larsen is.

by Anonymousreply 17May 21, 2014 10:25 PM

Jill Larson (ALL MY CHILDREN) wasn't in the show. Do you mean Dorothy Lyman?

by Anonymousreply 18May 21, 2014 10:36 PM

No R18 I mean Jill Larson.

by Anonymousreply 19May 21, 2014 10:43 PM

[quote] I am somewhat of an expert on all things "Mama's Family" (I know)

Then you are not an expert on all things Mama's Family if you have no idea who Jill Larson is, and her connection to Dorothy Lyman.

by Anonymousreply 20May 21, 2014 10:43 PM

The episode with Bubba's female rock band, and the episode where Vint and Bubba think they killed Iola's cat are classics, utube them.

by Anonymousreply 21May 21, 2014 10:44 PM

Really funny episodes. I love the one where Thelma spends the weekend alone and misses her family.

by Anonymousreply 22May 21, 2014 10:56 PM

I love that episode where Naomi is wearing that yellow dress slid off her shoulders.

by Anonymousreply 23May 21, 2014 11:33 PM

Jill Larson was the actress that played Opal Gardner on AMC after Dorothy Lyman originated the role.

I believe (R9) knows Larson wasn't on "Mama's Family" but was quoting/paraphrasing Larson on the fans that would confuse the two actresses.

by Anonymousreply 24May 21, 2014 11:51 PM

R20, you're an idiot. Who the fuck cares about the original Opal and it's insignificant relationship to Mama's Family?

More interesting is the fact that the choreography in the Mama's Girls episode is the same choreography as in Easter Parade because Judy Garland taught the choreography to Ken Berry.

That's Mama's Family knowledge, you nitwit.

by Anonymousreply 25May 21, 2014 11:56 PM

What about the role of Iola came down between Beverly Archer and DL fave Lorna Luft?

by Anonymousreply 26May 22, 2014 12:04 AM

The Thanksgiving one with drunk Iola singing "Tico, Tico" was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 27May 22, 2014 12:10 AM

R13 (and her 15 exclamation points) loves her schoolmarms.

by Anonymousreply 28May 22, 2014 12:11 AM

R26, I was molested.

by Anonymousreply 29May 22, 2014 12:15 AM

Allan Kayser was and is super hot.

[quote] That's Mama's Family knowledge, you nitwit.

And that All My Children was an influence on Mama's Family casting.

How about that? If you don't know about the circumstances between All My Children and Mama's Family, then you are not a true Mama's Family expert.

by Anonymousreply 32May 22, 2014 3:45 PM

There was one where Mama did a cool dance with Ramone (?) They both were great.

I wish they would revive this. Vicki can still do Mama, Carol could come on occasionally. Mama could have other relatives live with her or near her. I bet they could get Iola back too. And wouldn't it be great if they could get Allen? Guaranteed ratings from gays if they would have him shirtless often.

This could be done. All you really need is Vicki and Carol (once in awhile.) Carol looks amazing for her age. So does Vicki.

by Anonymousreply 33May 24, 2014 1:18 AM

Right, R32

Ramone Montenegro.

Some of my favorite scenes:

Iola gets drunk on rum balls.

Iola and Mama fighting over the rose.

Iola moving in with the Harper's and redecorating the house.

Mama calls in to rent-a-gent thinking she is going to get an "oldster" for Valentine's Day and winds up getting the hot blond stripper with candy and roses.

"The Geek" visits after breaking out of juvie. I love Yeardley Smith. Mama talking Swedish to her knocks me out.

Is Dorothy Lyman lesbian?

I love your recollections but she was called "The Keek" because her name was Bonita Rokeke.

r6, 1AM is always in the morning.

by Anonymousreply 45May 24, 2014 4:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 46May 24, 2014 5:21 PM

I don't remember him being a ginger on the show.

by Anonymousreply 47May 24, 2014 6:38 PM

[quote]I love your recollections but she was called "The Keek" because her name was Bonita Rokeke.

I was just going to say the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 48May 24, 2014 6:44 PM

[quote]Is Dorothy Lyman lesbian?

I was thinking she may be a late-in-lifer, too. She hasn't been married in years, and the look she's sporting screams "I am now a lesbian." Meredith Baxter Birney had the same thing happen.

by Anonymousreply 49May 24, 2014 6:45 PM

[quote]I don't remember him being a ginger on the show.

He was totally ginger on the show. The only thing he wasn't ginger on was NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, where he sported a weird albino look.

by Anonymousreply 53May 24, 2014 6:52 PM

r46: One of the producers discussed it on the DVD bonus features. He said that Lorna put a bawdy spin on Iola, and that's not what they were looking for.

by Anonymousreply 54May 24, 2014 7:03 PM

The only reason to watch this show was Beverly Archer. She was perfect as Iola: a homely woman who appears to be at least 50 years old, who dresses exclusively in pink with a pink bow in her hair no less, who still lives with her parents and makes tacky handicrafts and always barges in the door saying "Knock, knock!" She really made that character her own.

by Anonymousreply 55May 24, 2014 11:10 PM

My favorite episode was when Bubba videotaped the family telling their stories but the video camera kept messing up so it edited it into a nightmare of a story. Simple minded but so funny.

by Anonymousreply 56May 24, 2014 11:20 PM

[quote]a homely woman who appears to be at least 50 years old, who dresses exclusively in pink with a pink bow in her hair no less

They had a weird dream sequence one time where she imagined herself in the Naomi role and married to Vint.

She had the huge, frizzy brunette hair and her pink dress was slutty and off the shoulders.

So what happened to Vinton's kids? The ones on the NBC show. They disappeared like Chuck Cunningham.

by Anonymousreply 59May 25, 2014 12:34 AM

My favorite episode (apart from the "Bubba on the swim team" episodes) was the one where Betty White and Carol Burnett were appearing for the "Rashomon" story of how and who cracked Mama on the noggin with a pot.

by Anonymousreply 60May 25, 2014 12:41 AM

Pardon my English. I meant who cracked Mama on the noggin with a pot and hot it happened.

by Anonymousreply 61May 25, 2014 12:42 AM

Whatever happened to the original Bubba? Eric Brown I think was his name. Why was he replaced on the show?

by Anonymousreply 62May 25, 2014 12:46 AM

[quote]Whatever happened to the original Bubba? Eric Brown I think was his name. Why was he replaced on the show?

He wasn't Bubba, he was Buzz, and he wasn't replaced; Buzz and Sonia (his sister) were written out of the show after it was revamped for first-run syndication.

by Anonymousreply 63May 25, 2014 1:05 AM

"Rashomomma" is the name of the episode and it's on the newly released Season Three DVD.

by Anonymousreply 64May 25, 2014 1:17 AM

Eric Brown was played Vinton Harper Jr, aka Buzz (not Bubba), on the first two seasons of the show. When the show was resurrected, his character and that of his sister were never mentioned - which created continuity problems when Naomi later got pregnant. Vint wanted to name the baby Vinton Harper Jr, apparently forgetting he already had a son by that name.

Eric Brown ended up going into politics for awhile.

by Anonymousreply 65May 25, 2014 1:26 AM

Buzz and Sonya were completely expendable. Eric Brown as Buzz was a mediocrity. The character of Sonya was a plain, sullen, snotty teenage girl who wore pastel overalls. I don't remember who played her but she was one of the most unappealing actresses ever on a sitcom.

by Anonymousreply 66May 25, 2014 1:55 AM

R66 Well, fuck you, too, honey!

by Anonymousreply 67May 25, 2014 2:22 AM

R66 tried to date Eric but found out he was straight.

In the second season, they cleaned up Sonya and she was much better dressed.

by Anonymousreply 68May 25, 2014 3:09 AM

They did say that Buzz and Sonya went off to live with their Mother in Las Vegas in one of the first of the new cast series and then were never mentioned again.

You know as soon as I hit "enter" I realized that Yeardley's character was not named "the Geek" but the message had gone off, never to be retrieved or corrected. So sorry.

Another favorite was when Naomi's ex showed up in the personage of Jerry Reed. I always thought he was hot and loved his singing. Mama getting her hair did in the Bigger Jigger was a hoot with the curlers being dipped in beer.
