Patty Duke is legally insane and she admits such. So she lies all the time and starts fires too. Lucille Ball was a drunk so she isn't very reliable either.

sorry r1 but I care and no I am not the Patty Duke Troll.. OP it was big news they and of course Desi were on the front pages of all the gossip magazines. IN 1970-1971 there were at least 5 or not more what was know as movie magazines, filled with all the gossip that in the days before were never printed b/c the studios would stop them. With the end of the studio system, these magazines went fill with stories. Some that I remember are Photoplay, Screen Stories, Silver Screen, TV Radio Mirror... You have to remember this was 1970-71 and these were famous people playing out their lives in public. The scandal was that PD was 23 Desi was 17 (still a minor) and Lucy was well known for her privacy. So here is PD and Desi running all over town. But I guess it really became BIG when Patty became pregnant and the magazines decided that Desi Jr was the dad and neither Patty nor Desi denied it. This of course threw Ball into a tizzy and it was front page gossip magazine fodder. After Desi and Patty split and she married John Astin things calmed down and it was over. Supposedly Patty and Lucy made up and Patty even said that if she was in the same place as Lucy was with her underage son bring home a divorced older woman who the gossip magazines were running after, she too would have been upset. That feud must have been made in Gossip Rag Heaven. One of Hollywood's hottest young messes going up against an old battle-ax who was a living legend over an under-age stud muffin. Hedda Hopper must have been spinning in her grave.

Followed up with Desi's romance with Liza Minnelli. I believe they were even engaged for a while. Lucy liked Liza, but said she was too old and too talented for Desi (or supposed said).

WTF? Lucy loved Liza and said so. He main complaint at the time was how much she disapproved of Lucie "dating" female impersonator Jim Bailey.

Lucy did NOT make up with Patty Duke. Not ever.

When she became pregnant, she quickly married a rock promoter named Michael Tell so the baby wouldn't be born out of wedlock. That marriage only lasted 13 days, though -- and for years she said she didn't know whether Astin or Desi was the father of her son Sean.

Turned out, the father was Michael Tell all along!

So Lucy was basically an alkie for how long in her career?

I always thought her performances tiresomely hammy and unfunny so this explains a lot in terms of not being able to assess herself.

By the time Patty published her autobiography in 1987, she and Lucy had NOT made up. She seems very bitter towards Lucy in the book. I have never heard they had buried the hatchet...they were both too strong-willed for that.

But I thought Desi Arnaz Jr wanted me.

Don't remember the interview or why but Duke said that years later Her n Lucy did indeed make up. I know that Duke n Desi n even Lucie are all friendly with each other, in some fashion.

I have several Lucy/Desilu books. The general theme is that Lucy was very upset over this. Patty in her book hints that the baby was Desi's. She also tells of shocking abuse by both male and female managers, on top of her mental problems. I thought to this day the boy's parentage was uncertain, both Desi and John (Mr. Aadams) are dark haired and complexioned.

R37 Sean Astin ran into this girl who said to him, I think we're cousin, she was Mike Tell's niece. so he went and had a blood test DNA and it proved that Michael Tell is his father. Mike was Patty's second husband

R46, the magazine is TV Radio Mirror, June 1971, and the full headline is "Secret Ceremony! Homosexual Wedding Between TV & Movie Star." Apparently the article didn't name names but said "Their names are known in every household in America," and went on to talk about how common this was in Hollywood and how gays would be asking for the legal right to marry any day now.

I heard about the supposed Jim Nabors-Rock Hudson wedding sometime between 1961 & 1963, when Desi would have been eight-ten years old.

The Rock-Jim Nabors marriage was 1971 not 1961, r60. Desi was a womanizer. NOT gay or bi, wishful thinkers.

Desi Jr. was just on "Fantasy Island" last Sunday on COZI TV. He got engaged to Marcia Brady!
