I'm the opposite. I stop eating when I'm depressed.
Jesus, I wish I stopped eating when I'm depressed. That would be incredible!
Is that really true? I'm a super crazy healthy eater, and eat practically no carbs and very little gluten, yet i often make a big bowl of pasta when I'm not in a good mood. I didn't realize there was any scientific basis for this; I always thought of it as just treating myself to something I like but deny myself because it's not healthy.

What R10 said. Anti depressives don't work instantly, sometimes they take weeks to kick in.
I heard Michael Hutchence did this in the last years of his life (taking ten times recommended dosage) when down, along with cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol.
Now I'm depressed I don't have R7's self-control. I'll now be downing a bag of mini rolos and string cheese.
Having a full tummy makes you feel better when you're sad.
