BREAKING NEWS: LAX shooting: Gunman in custody, flights grounded
10:50 a.m.: Law enforcement source said that the gunman had high-powered rifle and that at least three people were wounded, including one TSA agent. Suspect is in custody. Police looked for possible other suspects but so far have found none.
10:39 a.m.: Flights have been grounded at Los Angeles International Airport after a shooting that wounded at least one TSA agent. LAX officials said they did not know when flights would resume.
10:36 a.m.: A White House official said President Obama had been informed of the incident: "The President has been briefed about the shooting at LAX. We will continue to stay in touch with our federal and local partners. The LAPD is leading the response and investigation. We urge citizens to listen to the authorities and follow directions from the first responders on site. The president will continue to receive briefings throughout the day.”
10:30 a.m.: EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT: Brian Adamick, 43, said he was getting ready to fly to Chicago for his brother’s wedding and was boarding a Spirit Airlines flight at Gate 32 in Terminal 3.
He said people were running through the terminal, away from a security area. Adamick said he went through an emergency exit downstairs onto the tarmac with several other passengers.
“While I was on the tarmac, I heard two gunshots from the same area where the people had been running and screaming,” he said.
A few minutes after he got outside, he said buses showed up to help evacuate passengers. He saw a wounded TSA agent board one of the buses. The man’s ankle was bloody: “it looked like it was straight out of the movies,” Adamick said.
The man, told him, “I got shot, I’m fine.” He told passengers not to worry about him and that he had been shot before, Adamick said.
10:24 a.m.: TSA spokesman Nico Melendez confirmed one TSA officer was wounded in the shooting at LAX. He could provide no other details.
10:18 a.m.: Planes at LAX are grounded as the investigation of a shooting in which multiple people were wounded continues.
10:13 a.m.: A source at LAX told The Times that two or three TSA employees were hit by gunfire.
10:06 a.m.: The Los Angeles Police Department is on a citywide tactical alert. The LAPD would confirm only that two people were injured and that the suspect was in custody. LAPD Commander Andy Smith said "multiple shootings" occurred and that officers are still sorting out how many people were hurt.
10:05 a.m.: A man armed with a rifle opened fire at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, leaving several people wounded.
Law enforcement sources told The Times that at least one Transportation Security Administration agent was shot.
Law enforcement officers were flooding the airport and terminals 2 and 3 were being evacuated.
Tory Belleci of the television show "Mythbusters" tweeted: "Heard gun shots then everyone starting running for the door. Not sure if anyone was hurt. #LAX."
TV footage showed dozens of offficers swarming the airport. Images also showed a law enforcement officer being treated by paramedics. He appeared to be alert. Another officer had a bloody hand.
Please tell me he was targeting one of the Kardashians..
[quote]The man, told him, “I got shot, I’m fine.”
And some of you bitches whine about having a headache.
I wish there'd been a shootout at the airport when I flew home for my brother's wedding.
NRA is preparing their statement.
Shots fired... IN MY PANTS!!!
We are working on it.
"He told passengers not to worry about him and that he had been shot before"
WTF is your life that you've been shot not once but twice?
NRA statement - you were lucky he did not have them awesome semi-autos and armor piercing bullets! Then you would have seen some dead mother fuckers. Guns are awesome, people are bad Kill the bad people.
CNN restating a report from local LA radio that the gunman was a "clean-cut white man."
Actor Tim Daly gave eyewitness report to CNN from airport.
One TSA employee has died & the suspect is an off-duty TSA employee.
[quote] the gunman was a "clean cut white man"
CNN has started crazy-ass speculation!
r13, Did they blame a muslim, yet?
[quote]WTF is your life that you've been shot not once but twice?
A lot of TSA are former military, so it should not be all that surprising.
So it may turn out to be a case of an ex employee going "postal" in his former workplace. That normally would give the story about only one 24 hour news cycle, but since it happened at an airport and LAX that should be worth flogging by the media for longer. Celebrity interviews, hand ringing about airport security, should be good for a few cycles. Yes, I am being cynical.
Are we suppose to care about the daily shootings in America? If you wanted a gun culture, this is it. This is what Americans want. Why even report on it? It's not even a story as far as I'm concerned. Guns are made for killing people...so, where's the story?
Who will be the first celebwhore to claim they were "this close to death"?
We now go to Larry King who is on the phone with Liza Minelli, currently stranded in a Chili's in Terminal 2.
[quote] Are we suppose to care about the daily shootings in America? If you wanted a gun culture, this is it. This is what Americans want.

California isn't exactly known for being a gun nut state.
OMG. Someone please tell me Anderson Cooper is okay! Please!!!
Omarosa just appeared on CNN and called the shooter mediocre.
R18, I believe Tim Daly is the winner!
James Franco is already tweeting and posting selfies.
The gunman was tired of fish or chicken as a flight meal.
Larry: On the phone is an old friend, the legendary Liza Minnelli enjoying a cup of soup at the LAX Chili's.
Liza, you said you're having the Southwest Chicken and Sausage soup. Did you see the shooter?
Liza: Oh yesch, scheveral timesch. Betty Bacall lived next door to us you know. Sche and Mama were the bescht of friendsch. And waschn't John Wayne terrific?
And no pap got a picture?
Were they busy watching some Z-list reality fool pick her ass?
"Who is shooting Ex Lax? Why on earth would someone want to shoot Ex Lax? And why would Ex Lax need security?"
R41 It so wonderful we know this fast those celebrities and well known people were there and safe. It must have been an ordeal for them.
Wait, what about ordinary people?
R43 You're horrible, and I am horrible, because it makes me laugh and the issue is very serious and I feel awful to laugh at your silly dialogue.
Sending prayers to all at LAX! Paying forward #prayers sent to me on tragic death of my soulmt @CoryMonteith #glee #fox
Does @CoreyMonteith still tweet?
Dated reference @ r42
Actually, actor Tim Daly really was within a dozen feet of the shooter; his interview with Brooke Baldwin which began with technical issues was nerve wracking and fascinating. He was in the First Class Lounge.
That being said, R41's "please pray for them" made me laugh hysterically.
CNN 's Jake Tapper fucked Monica Lewinsky?

Any mention of a "Wings" reunion?
OMG! I can't stop crying!!! And the Southwest Chicken and Sausage soup at Chili's is fabulous!
Was the gunman was dark-skinned?
John King, CNN
I would think this was the one place Mark Wahlberg would've been!
A "clean cut, white" Republican of the Tea Party variety, I bet
Is Andy Cooper wearing his tight Prada tee
What a wonderful new idea for my next film project!
Die Hard LAX
Well he was described as being blonde-haired R58.
He had anti-government pamphlets on him.
I will be covering all of the LATEST breaking news about Airport Shooting on my nationally acclaimed show at 7 PM est tonight! Right here on CNN.
He was 23.
Praying. That helps a lot except it never seems to stop this shit from happening does it? But if you pray hard enough for the victims AFTER a tragedy THEN your god will spring into action. Before that he just could not be bothered to stop the tragedy from happening in the first place.
So it's safe to say we know what the entertainment shows will be reporting about for the next few days.
"Exclusive" interview(s) with D-list celebrities close call at LAX!
And, who will be cast in the movie about this tragedy!
The lesson is clear:
So...his apartment in LA will be opening up soon?
This just in!
BREAKING! Actress legend Helen Lawson is among the missing at LAX airport and feared dead.
Now they pull in these Israelis about the airport. Fuck Israel. I don't care about their horrible, thuggish country. A government that oppresses and steals from half of it's citizens. They are a shameful example of a government.
He was an Italian from South Jersey.
r71 = another Jew hater
These shootings must end! And the only way to end them is to defund Obamacare!
Featuring an ALL STAR CAST:
Tim Daly as your Pilot!
James Franco and Nick Jonas as a father and son trapped on board!
And in role made famous by Helen Hayes-Liza Minnelli!
"Actor Tim Daly gave eyewitness report to CNN from airport."
No surprise R73 wrote this in another thread:
[quote]Agree about the Dubai thing. She'll now be a plaything for wealthy Arab & Indian billionaires. Like Lilo is.
Let's also remind you that Israel is HUGE into sex slavery.
Why is that, R77?
R77 start your own blog and leave this thread alone.
I want him to be my sex slave!
Listen, I'm just pointing out that if you're going to be pissed about someone else shitting on a group of people, you shouldn't dabble in it yourself. It's transparent and hypocritical.
I won't take it further because this thread is good.
"And in role made famous by Helen Hayes-Liza Minnelli!"
When did Helen play Liza?
Has anyone found Mr. Ciancia's facebook yet?
What was on his iPod?
OMG! I mean you always read things like this happening in NY, Boston, whatever... BUT LA?
What have we done wrong ?!?!
How big was his dick?
I'll only watch the movie If James France and Nick Jonas are gay lovers.
This thread is useless without pics of the LAX Gunman presenting hole!
I saw him on the news. Meh.
There won't be loony girls fawning over him the way they did over the one in Boston.
'Mad Men' Production Suspended At LAX During Shooting
Production on "Mad Men" was suspended on Friday, Nov. 4 following the shooting at LAX, according to tweets from a crew member.
A rep for AMC confirmed "Mad Men" crew was shooting at the airport, but could not provide any other additional details. According to key grip Dustin Woods, "Mad Men" was filming at American Airlines, Terminal 4, and was told to move to the far end of the tunnel for safety following the shooting.
The tweets have since been deleted, but Woods said "Police K-9 unit going through AA arrival terminal right now. Should be getting the all clear shortly" and "We got the ok to leave but Police have not given the all clear."
Stars of Discovery's "MythBusters" were in LAX at the time of the shooting.
"'Mythbusters' Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci were present in Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport at the time of today's shooting incident. Both were en route to Delaware for the filming of 'Punkin Chunkin'. Grant and Tory are safe and being rerouted. Our thoughts are with all those affected by today's tragedy and our gratitude goes out to the members of the LAPD, Airport Police, TSA, and Virgin America staff for restoring safety to the scene," Discovery said in a statement.
I'd arrest that guy @R105 just for having Kylie Jenner and Jackie Chan as "favorites"
The suspect has been identified by the FBI as Paul Ciancia, 23. He is believed to have homes in Los Angeles and Pennsville, N.J.
The note found at the scene ended with the letters "NWO," according to law enforcement sources, which is believed to stand for "New World Order." Law enforcement sources also said a large number of .223 caliber rounds were found at the airport.
Earlier today, Ciancia's father contacted police in Pennsville, N.J., with the concern that his son may be suicidal, Chief Allen Cummings of the Pennsville Police Department told ABC News.
"Their younger child got a text message from Paul stating that there were some comments in there about his well being and he wanted to possibly take his own life," Cummings said.
Cummings said he called the LAPD today and asked for officers to "try to get a well-being check" on Ciancia.
Officers went to Ciancia's apartment before the shooting and talked to his roommates, Cummings said.
Around the time of the shooting, LAPD officers called Cummings, unaware that Ciancia was the gunman, to let him know that they had satisfactorily completed the well-being check.
Authorities said they believe Ciancia acted alone, however they will investigate whether he has any ties to domestic terrorists.
I hope Hamm and his Hammaconda are ok.
let's pray for them
Wait till everybody here sees what a cute, Italian, Jersey boy the gunman is. .. The reaction will be the same as for the Boston Marathon bomber. .. Awwwww...
R110, I'm still waiting to see pics of his hole.
See R89 and R92, R110
Always with the priorities, eh, R111?
Any photos of him yet?
More mind control bs. I keep telling people to keep those smartphones away from your head. They're bombarding us with all kinds of psychotronic sh!t through the cellular and satellite networks.
From Jersey? Jesus, more Jersey Italians on tv.
LAX shooting: Celebrities live tweet from scene
The shooting drama at the Los Angeles International Airport on Friday resulted in a surreal influx of live reporting from the most unlikely combination of celebrities: From The Bachelor host Chris Harrison to members of Discovery’s Mythbusters gang to actor James Franco. Even the filming of the final season of AMC’s Mad Men was apparently disrupted.
A gunman open fired in the airport this morning, killing a TSA agent, according to CNN. A suspect was taken into custody after being pursued through Terminal 3.
Harrison tweeted from nearly the beginning of the action, “Somethin crazy goin on at LAX right now. Terminals shut down & cops w guns drawn!” and then TSA just shut the doors in lockdown. Shooting over at Terminal 3 … Police very polite but guns drawn & very serious about clearing the streets on the top level of LAX. Everybody very calm & respectful… Incredible response by LAPD & airport authority. This place was locked tight w precision quickly. God bless first responders!.”
Franco was sitting on a plane at the airport when the shooting took place, and posted on Instagram: “At #lax Some s–tbag shot up the place.”
Fox Sports analyst Bill Reiter tweeted: “First came the gunfire. Then people including me hiding our seats. It felt very Columbine. A new kind of fear, at least for me” and “It’s weird how in that moment time could be so fast and so slow at the same time. My God.”
Also on hand were Mythbusters Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara, who live-tweeted their experience being evacuated from the terminal, with Belleci noting, “That was f—-ing terrifying!” and “Holy s—t!!! How the hell did guns get passed security? Outside now.”
Imahara drew comments for his profile picture, which featured him holding a replica of Han Solo’s blaster, and he swapped out the image.
A crew member for Mad Men also apparently tweeted that production of the sixth and final season was disrupted while filming in nearby Terminal 4. But network declined to comment and the tweets were subsequently deleted.
How I Met Your Mother co-creator Craig Thomas was also on the scene: “I was at LAX Terminal 3 this morning, waiting to fly to New York – I had to run for my life, with many others…This was a terrifying experience I will never forget…It’s one thing to see a story like Sandy Hook and know in your head that we have to do something about guns in our country…It’s another thing to run for your life and wonder if you’ll ever see your wife and child and friends again… New thought: Let’s all approach gun control like we’ve all, every one of us, run for our lives from gun fire – what would our laws be then?”
Poignantly added actor-comedian JB Smoove: “Stuck in LAX after the shooting in the terminal. This world is in a bad place. Hope we can fix it. #beblessed”
[quote]Paul Ciancia, 23. He is believed to have homes in Los Angeles and Pennsville, N.J.
Even 23 year olds are bi-coastal homeowners these days. I must be doing something wrong.
I once said that about authors an DL r120. They always seem to have two homes.
Someone set me straight and said that usually means they rent a room in an apartment with others on one coast and still count there parent's house as a "home"
We need to begin profiling everyone from New Jersey. That state is crazy.
I cracked up at James Franco's pensive, appropriately concerned looking selfie. JFC, the airport's getting shot, up you don't have any information about what's going on since you're trapped on a plane, whaddaya do? Post a selfie for your fans. Damn! I was pretty neutral about him until now.
WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?!!!!!!!!!!!
[quote]Sgt. Steve Zouzounis and Officer Brian Lopez – the two Los Angeles World Airports police officers who shot Ciancia – were not hurt, law enforcement sources told The News.
But are THESE guys hot?
Thank god DL icon James Franco is alright!! He was at LAX today!!!!!!
He's hot. Sean Cody material.
Not guilty by reason of not getting any.
It looked in that photo that James Franco was crammed into coach seat. Can't he fly 1st class?
REAL celebrities don't fly commercial.
Those celebrity tweets at r118 are one big "Mary!"
It sounds like he's been a nutcase for awhile but was still able to purchase a gun.
No you're not.
I'm looking forward to knowing why the gunman targeted the TSA
If he was suicidal as the family claimed, his best bet was to be shot by TSA agents when he hauled out the rifle.
Perhaps he wanted to go down with some infamy attached to his name.
Is this another one with a long history of mental illness that wasn't taken seriously?
[quote] If he was suicidal as the family claimed, his best bet was to be shot by TSA agents when he hauled out the rifle.
TSA agents don't carry firearms. The Airport Police do.
Oh, hey, another white male goes on a shooting spree. If only security officers were allowed to racially profile.
And do what R138? Stop all white men from New Jersey and frisk them?
Seeing as it's statistically more likely to be a white man that shoots you than someone from the Middle East then, yes, r139, I suggest we should spend more time being paranoid about our New Jersey brethren than the chick in the burqa.
Fuckin-A hell yeah R139
Yes,r138 and he was also shot to wound-not kill him. He would have been dead if he was a black man-armed or not!
To be honest, I don't even care about this shit anymore. Any country that can watch 20+ children get slaughtered and do nothing deserves what they get. Mass shootings are something that we are going to be dealing with from now on. Might as well get used to it cause all the politicians are too busy with their thumbs up their asses.
Thank God I don't fly commercially!
Agree completely r143 The political reaction to that massacre showed the real soul of this ugly country.
Exactly. It was disgusting and embarrassing.
Hear, hear, r143, it's a disgusting place that allows this ever
[quote]Oh, hey, another white male goes on a shooting spree. If only security officers were allowed to racially profile.
Profiling white males would take forever and society would grind to a halt. Nice try, asshole.
The stop and frisk law in NY is disgusting. You know it will be seriously abused and it's worse the Nazi Germany.
Frankly, any officer who does it should have a knee cap shattered. Then they will learn to NOT DO IT.
I completely agree with R143. I really don't care any more. I can not pretend to grieve over a crime that was committed by the entire country and specifically the NRA and Republicans. I only hope that the gun lovers and THEIR children, are the ones who are killed or maimed.
R149 is a little slow to the sarcasm party...And a rude ass to boot.
of course he turned out to be a RWNJ, spurred on by glenn beck and alex jones.
Apparently Paul Stanley was there. He tweeted about it.

R143 nails it to the wall.
The New Jersey native who killed a TSA agent and wounded five people in a wild Los Angeles airport shootup left a note describing himself online as a “pissed off patriot” angry that airport searches violate his rights.
Paul Ciancia, 23, walked into a packed Los Angeles International Airport terminal Friday morning wearing fatigues and carrying an AR-15 assault rifle and about 150 rounds of ammunition.
Ciancia wrote in his note that he “wanted to kill TSA and pigs,” and was disappointed with the government, but did not want to hurt civilians, according to reports.
He signed it with the letters “NWO,” an apparent reference to an anti-government group called “New World Order,” according to the Daily Mail.
A cold-blooded LAX gunman shot a TSA officer repeatedly at point-blank range – and then returned to finish the job after he saw the dying man move, firing at him again, investigators said.
Alleged airport assassin Paul Ciancia, 23, whipped out a .223-caliber assault rifle from a duffle bag and opened fire on uniformed TSA worker and dad of two Gerardo Hernandez, 39. Ciancia then “began to walk up an escalator, looked back at the wounded officer, who in video appeared to move, and returned to shoot the wounded officer again,” according to a federal complaint charging Ciancia with first-degree murder.
In his handwritten one-page manifesto, recovered after the attack, Ciancia wrote that he “made a conscious decision to try and kill” TSA employees “to instill fear in your traitorous minds,” according to the criminal complaint.
“It’s clearly one of those notes that reads, ‘I’m going to kill people, and I don’t want to kill civilians,’ with the idea that he’s going to die at the end of this,’’ McCaul told CNN’s State of the Union.
The congressman said the note indicates that Ciancia clearly “wanted to talk about how easy it is to bring a gun into an airport and do something just like he did.”
"Pissed off patriot" sounded to me like some kind of wingnut speak, so I googled it and lo and behold, what do you think I found?
