[quote] Hunnam, after pressing Universal to bring in Patrick Marber to do some rewriting on the Kelly Marcel-scripted adaptation of the EL James novel, seemed to have one of those what the hell was I thinking moments before he bailed abruptly on the role.
Ah, and I was just asking for a new thread about this.
Now please, someone give me my excerpts. I love DL excerpts from FSOG!
Never heard of him before but just from the fact that he's an Armani model, and has played a serial killer, convinces me that he has the gravitas for this role.
Bitches will go see this and we have to endure 3 more movies afterwards.
He was OK in The Fall, a little one note.
I'm no longer interested in seeing the movie now. He's not wow sexy to me. I'll wait for the tumblr gif's from the movie.
It's one of those roles that will get huge amounts of attention, but won't guarantee any future successes. Like half of the roles in Twilight.
In the photo used by Variety he's giving off some Cary Elwes Princess Bride vibes.
I don't know the book. Will Jamie be doing full frontal? Or possibly even erect?
LENS DUNHAM HAS APPROVED
I REPEAT, LENS DUNHAM HAS APPROVED
I didn't watch the book, maybe I'll read the movie.
I developed a raging crush on him after seeing The Fall and Googling his modeling pics, but I think I'm over him now. I understand how the Charlie Hunnam stans felt now.
You just know she tried to get him for the Patrick Wilson role, but even Dornan wasn't that willing.
He is my pick and I think he is just perfect for the role. Definitely much better than Charlie Hunham. He is generally unknown to the public so this is the best stepping stone for him to be a bigger star.
He thinks he's going to be a big star. He's in for a rude awakening. Out side of 50 shit, he's nothing but a ho.
Jamie Dornan: Beautiful face. Beautiful foreskin.
He's been on my radar since Marie Antoinette. Gorgeous.
PIA ZADORA is ANASTASIA 'ANA' STEELE
I saw him in The Fall, and I fell. Now I'll have to see this POS movie. It's nice he doesn't mind sharing his cock with the world. I've seen the pic in R4 a number of times, but this is the first time I've been able to discern his penis from what I thought might've been one of his testicles. It does look as if it might be a mighty one. Hope he shows hard.
R28, she used to be married to Colin Farrell
um, r31. They won't be showing his penis in the movie. How desperate can you be to watch this movie just 'cause you want to see someone naked? Get some dick and stop supporting this shit.
An actor most do not know.
An actor not born in the U.S.
That's been a habit with this kind of provocative material: American actors, with any name recognition, want nothing to do with risque, sexually-charged (being nude and simulated sex scenes) material. The people yearning for the casting of the Texas born Matt Bomer should have understood this.
[quote]The people yearning for the casting of the Texas born Matt Bomer should have understood this.
They should also check the motivation behind their obsession, as in it seems like they're desperate to imagine him as a sexy straight guy ready and willing to fuck them instead of some fag actor.
F&F for you, homophobe at R35.
Homophone how, r36? I'm simply calling out those (you?) girls.
Agree with R36.
Ugh, I had no plans to see some shitty adaptation of a shitty book, but Jamie Dornan has been one of my top 2 celebrity crushes for several years (along with Matthew Goode). At least he'll be getting naked.
R35 is essentially right. Christian Grey is an effete, French-speaking, piano-playing sexual deviant who is cured of his deviance by the love of a good woman. The popularity of Bomer was inevitable.
[R34] I'm not sure it's just that it's sexually charged. I think it's that the books while popular are exactly great art. They're just Harlequin novels with a kinky twist. I think more established actors don't want to be typecast as middle aged lady spank bank material. It could negatively impact their ability to get roles in male oriented action franchises.
How sexy do people think this movie will be? They need to keep an R-rating. I think there are going to be a lot clothing on sex scenes. Male nudity is usually a no no with the MPAA, unless it's very brief. There's also a limit to how many thrusts they'll tolerate. Female orgasms can't be to long and fluids are only all right if played for laughs. I'm not sure how graphic the fans want it anyway. Reading about something is different than watching it.
Looks a little young for the role if you ask me.
This is actually good casting. I am shocked.
I like Matthew Goode, too, R39. And Hugh Dahncy (sic).
R33 Buy a big circular dildo and fuck the living shit out of yourself and right into your mouth. Seriously.
Are his eyes grey/blue? They look brown and that's one thing that should be correct in the movie. He is so gorgeous I'm going to have a hard time believing he's obsessed with Dakota Johnson. She's not hot.
R43 He's like 27-28 in the book. He looks the right age.
So much brouhaha for an inevitable piece of shit.
I can't wait to see this shitstorm. It's going to make Showgirls look like Gone With The Wind.
I have been under the impression that 50 SHADES = MOMMY'S MONTH AT THE MINESHAFT.
Watch Marie Antoinette, he's gorgeous in that movie. I thought that role would launch his career but it wasn't such a big hit.
At the time, he was with Keira but rumour was that he and Kirsten had a fling and that ended things between them.
I'm sorry but I don't find him hot.
Male nudity is usually a no no with the MPAA
Only erections. There have been tons of dicks shown in R-rated movies. It's the studios that get nervous and cut the cocks.
It happens to Colin Farrell a few years ago; James Franco went full frontal (albeit with a prosthetic) in Milk that was cut, too.
But I'd agree that there won't be any cocks on display in this Disney-does-de Sade mess.
[quote]It's going to make Showgirls look like Gone With The Wind.
Apt comparison. Also: Myra Breckinridge. Big fanfare about the kinky novel, big stars, big anticipation.... huge flop.
[quote]I'm sorry but I don't find him hot.
I DIDN'T MAKE HIM FOR YOU!
[R53]I'm not sure the fans would want to see Dornan's cock. Most of the middle aged men in this country are circumcised so many of the readers aren't used to foreskins and find them unsightly. I get the impression the fans of this book aren't very sexually adventurous in their actual lives and probably didn't have a ton of partners.
[quote]I'm sorry but I don't find him hot.
Please post someone you do find hot, R52.
I get what you're saying, R56. I am no fan of the foreskin myself. But beauty trumps smegma every time. And Jamie Dornan is one of the most beautiful humans -- or anything else that's beautiful -- I've ever seen.
R54 Myra Breckinridge and Showgirls have become camp classics, though.
I have a bad feeling this won't be funny-bad, just bad. (A couple of years ago I watched Wild Orchid with a friend. We were both expecting hooty, dirty fun but it was just stupefyingly dull.)
[R59] I'm not saying foreskin would be a deal breaker for most people if they had the chance to fuck someone who looked like Dornan. I just don't think most of the women fantasizing about Grey include foreskin in the fantasy and this is all about fantasy. People who've had a lot of partners learn to appreciate or tolerate the many variations of the human body. I'm thinking a lot of the readers don't fall into this category and aren't looking to have their tastes challenged by the movie.
I saw a scene from Once Upon a Time with JD. He's very good-looking but just an okay actor. I guess that's besides the point since Pattinson can't act either.
He is absolutely fucking gorgeous, but this is a bad move. I don't get why he would take on a role which is all about how hot he is, giving an excuse to print lots of old photos of him in his pants, when he was just on the verge of serious recognition for his permormance in the Fall. There has been talk in the UK of him as potential BAFTA nominee - can't imagine that the stuffy old academy will want to nominate someone about to star in a soft porn piece of crap.
That being said I am now MUCH more intersted in seeing this movie. Not that i would be seen in public though - strictly a watch at home guilty pleasure.
My only hope for Jamie is that Sam Taylor Wood might make it more interesting and that the Patrick Marber script rewrite makes the dialogue bearable.
People really shouldn't judge how suitable Dornan is for the part unless they've seen him in 'The Fall'. That had plenty of creepy + hot from him, which would work for CG.
Unfortunately he'll probably be the best part of a bad movie, but at least it'll give him much increased name recognition. As long as he's hot and does a good job in the role, he could come out of it ahead.
He's ok, but gorgeous he is NOT! He is no Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill or David Gandy, sorry!
[quote]There has been talk in the UK of him as potential BAFTA nominee
I'm not in show business, but I'm pretty sure a BAFTA television nomination doesn't carry as much weight in Hollywood as a major film adaptation.
If this film actually does get made, I guarantee it's not going to do well. The frauen may have enjoyed giggling over the novel on their Kindles but they're not going to line up at their local multiplexes to see it acted out in public. if I'm wrong you may spank me.
R72 He's so many times better looking than any of them except Matt, I can't count that high. Henry Cavill lost his looks (I agree that he used to be stunning), and David Gandy looks like crime.
[quote]Henry Cavill lost his looks (I agree that he used to be stunning)
Only on DL, folks.
He sure as hell ain't no Joe Manganiello, either. He's a cute but he looks like he's still in high school.
[R74] There are book clubs that have read it and I have heard openly admitting to reading it. So it's not just women hiding it on their kindles. That said I don't expect it to be anywhere near twilight in terms of box office. Twilight had teens and some of their moms lining up to see it. 50 Shades will be R-rated so the teeny boppers won't be able to see it. It could do Magic Mike numbers.
He was absolutely horrible on Once Upon a Time, but I'm guessing he wasn't hired for his acting skills.
lmao, he may be good looking, but It's going to be embarrassing to watch him on screen. Not that i'll be paying for it.
[quote]lmao, he may be good looking, but It's going to be embarrassing to watch him on screen. Not that i'll be paying for it.
What's more embarrassing is that he'll be trying to make us believe he's a dominant top!
I'd love to see the "oil paintings" on DL claiming this man has lost his looks:
