I saw my brother earlier today at my mom's. I could tell he was down, so I asked him what the matter was. He replied that "it's a guy thing...you wouldn't understand." I didn't respond to him, but my heart fell into my stomach. I was really hurt by that statement.
My brother was homophobic in the past, and I thought he got through all of that. We're not the closest of brothers, but I thought he was more accepting than to make such a homophobic comment. I probably shouldn't care what he thinks, but still he's my brother. Am I being too sensitive?
What the Hell did he mean by that!? You're a guy, aren't you? Punch him and throw him down the basement stairs. He'll get out of his li'l funk right quick!
He probably was talking about a woman...he's right you wouldn't understand. You are probably the frau troll.
He might have been down because a favorite team lost? He's right, you would not understand, now if your fav fabu actress lost an Oscar...well then...
Some gay men go so far out of their way to act like women that others just assume they don't have the same concerns as other men. OP, if you're flamboyant you should cut your brother some slack.
Ignore him, forever.
OP, maybe you should work on feeling more confident. The correct response is, "well, I'm a guy."
Why didn't you say, "I'm a guy." Damn, people like you get on my nerves.
What r6 & r7 said. He doesn't respect you because you're obviously a doormat.
Yes, you should have said, "uh....I'm a guy, fool."
But he probably meant that it was girl trouble and you wouldn't understand that, which is true. He just had a shitty way of expressing it.
You should be insulted. Fuck him. God I hate family.
No, you're not overthinking it, OP - that was a jerk comment.
Subtle homophobia - he might as well have called you a faggot.
What does your heart tell you?
Hell, I have straight friends talk to me about girl trouble. Be insulted, OP. But he sounds like he's inherently an ass, so don't be too insulted. Just stand up for yourself next time if you really care.
