[quote] CNN must be determined to fail with these bland men they keep transferring from ABC to headline their programs
Jake Tapper, Chris Cuomo, Bill Wier
AC came from ABC as well.
Bill Weir went to Pepperdine. Fundie?
I'm so glad the Breaking News bear is out of hibernation!!!!
So where will Morgan go? Back to England?
R15 Probably not. I think he has duel citizenship. I always admired his intelligence and his willingness to ask the tough questions and to insist on answers, but I cannot forget that this fuckwad. Was involved in the British cell phone tap scandals. he also hired so done to infiltrate Buckingham palace in order to get pictures of the royal families private rooms? Piers Morgan is an enemy of the British Royal family! and that makes him an enemy of mine.
Why no link, OP?
I'm smelling bullshit!
Bill Wier used to work out at my gym here in LA. Zero personality and cheap shoes.
At least Piers Morgan came out swinging for gun control, health care and other rational ideas. Nothing against Bill Weir but Morgan isn't all bad.
(Morgan's show may, in fact, have been terrible. I didn't watch it.)
Bill Weir QUIT Nightline.
Still don't know why CNN would replace Piers with him, though.
I don't care who it is as long as Morgan is fired. Does anyone know if he has another tv gig lined up? hopefully not. What horrible trash we acquired from the UK.
I think Piers Morgan is an excellent, well-informed, knowledgeable interviewer.
But I would not mind if he leaves or is replaced, as long as his replacement is on an equal excellent level of interviewing.
This thread has ruined my entire weekend. Fuck OP for getting my hopes up.
You ought to start a petition to keep Piers Morgan on CNN. We would all sign it.
Piers Morgan is completely a low piece of garbage who doesn't have any positive qualities. I have heard on the radio Piers Tweeted that he is British and the British are superior to American people, and the British will eventually take over the United States. When I heard that I wanted to spit in his face. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because he is constantly saying how the United States is less than England or some other European country.
I notice on talk shows when the host or hostess interviews guests on their shows, they will speak their minds and disagree with the person ,and they usually don't call the person names. However, when Piers Moron interviews people he disagrees with or they don't agree with him with or he doesn't like them, he calls them names and gets really nasty. He had a couple of senators on his show and he called them stupid jerks, etc. It was totally unprofessional and I have never seen that at least in American TV before.
BTW, someone said he has duel citizenship on this thread? That is new to me because I have always heard that he is NOT an American citizen.
Please don't send him back to England, we've only just got rid of Goop
Unprofessional name-calling? Aw, he's one of us!
I never watched his show, it was annoying how he came out of nowhere (to Americans) and got a prime job replacing Larry King. If they wanted to go with an unknown, a talented American would've been a better idea.
Good. He sucks.
Bring back Larry King!
I remember the hype around Piers Morgan when he came on board - he was supposed to make CNN #1 and he even said he would, but that's never going to happen.
[quote]CNN is not confirming anything because they are working out a graceful way for Piers Morgan to exit.
Arrange for Scotland Yard to extradite him and problem solved.
I can't stand Bill Weir because he doesn't know how to talk -- he does that S thing. He puts his teeth in his lower lip for "S" when there's a s in a word. Like a 14 year old boy does when he's trying to sound "tough." Matt Lauer does it too, but Lauer has buck teeth.
I'm sure Madonna is devastated she never got to appear on the show.
"he also hired so done"
R16, I know this was auto correct, but what did you mean?
I never heard of Weir, so I googled him and found a new feature online where he climed a mountain in Yosemite, andspend the night on a platform a couple hundred feet in the air. He's fit, handsome, charming, affable and intelligent. But he does speak funny, someone pointed out the problem he has with S's. I do too. It makes him human and someone I can relate too. I look forward to seeing more of him.
I don't understand all the hate directed at Piers. He was a great replacement for Larry King.
r43 is the cheese (stands alone)
R10, reread R9, look at the link closely, and then tell me: is it tough being a genius?
I'm British and we don't want him back, thanks.
I know of not one British person, of any political hue, who doesn't despise him.
Not sure if anyone's checked him for the sign of the beast, but they should. For further details please see his 'journalistic' 'credentials' in the UK with special mention regards the hacking scandals.
It is becoming a real embarrassment for CNN. Whenever he gets in a debate the other person always says this must be why nobody watches you!!!
Such an astute observation R39. I never realized this till I read your post. The sound it makes is sort of smug for some reason.
So breaking it's wrong.
UPDATE, 2:15 PM: When ABC News put out word this morning that Nightline anchor Bill Weir was leaving ABC News for “another opportunity in the news business,” The Reporters Who Cover Television began preparing their “Weir Heads To CNN” reports, figuring there was a high likelihood he would follow colleagues Jake Tapper, Chris Cuomo and John Berman to the cable news network. The development bore the signs of another Amy Entelis strike. Entelis, a 30-year ABC News vet who left as VP Talent and Strategy, and who in January 2012 was named to the newly created position of SVP Talent and Content Development at CNN Worldwide, had been given credit for the hires of the aforementioned ABC News staffers. When, several hours later, CNN made the announcement it had in fact hired Weir as an anchor – without naming any program — as well as Chief Innovation Correspondent, some of those reporters began to pick up Mediaite’s report, citing an unnamed source, that Weir had been promised all, or half, of Piers Morgan’s CNN time slot some time many months from now. CNN issued a statement “Bill Weir was not brought to CNN to replace Piers Morgan.” That seemed to put a lid on it, though some media reports continued to mull Morgan’s future at the network.
“At a time when CNN is expanding the definition of news, the former anchor of ABC News’ Nightline will work with producers to develop original programming across the schedule,” CNN had explained in its Weir announcement. “Bill’s range, sensibility and curiosity set him apart,” chimed in CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker. “He brings a unique storytelling style, perspective and sense of humor to CNN, and he will be a key player as we continue to expand our lineup.”
Someone upthread said that Morgan asks tough questions and follows up on them, but the opposite is true. After Michelle Shocked had that homophobic incident in San Francisco, causing her audience to walk out, her (gay) sound man to cut her mike, and her coming gigs to cancel on her, she was on Morgan's show. He asked her is she was homophobic, and for a response she came up with the most idiotic non-answer in history. And that ugly creep Morgan just sat there with that clueless hetero expression he always has.
Any one of us on this site, our beloved DataLounge, would have pressed her: It's a yes or question, you stupid bitch. Answer it!
It's not like there aren't tough British interviewers in the tradition of David Frost and Tim Sebastian: Gavin Esler, Stephen Sackur, and of course, Jeremy Paxman.
[quote]Why is CNN so hell-bent on keeping that asshole Piers?
Maybe because he has one of the best-rated shows on CNN?
[quote]I don't understand all the hate directed at Piers. He was a great replacement for Larry King.
He's too smart for Americans. Americans think Ryan Lochte counts as news.
Larry King seemed like a likeable guy a gentleman, and he seemed diplomatic the way he conducted his interviews. As a result, people where comfortable to answer his questions regardless if they did or didn't like the questions he was asking them. Piers is an idiot, I notice he has this wall between the person he is interviewing and himself, and he has this cold reserve to him.He has only been in this country for a short time and he is not even an American citizen. Piers has the nerve to talk about this country as if he knows everything more than Americans know their own country. On the contrary, I have caught him on exaggerations and clueless answers and responses. He knows absolute nothing and his hatred for America is evident, and he calls people stupid jerks, and other names, he nastily asks, why are you laughing? to the person or persons,he is interviewing when the person is laughing as a disagreement type laugh, which anyone should know, But not Piers because he doesn't get this at all. He thinks they are laughing at him. He responses to subjects on emotion , not by a professional perspective. It is evident his IQ level is very low or possibly he is mentality challenged.
No I'm not a Tea Party person, but Piers Moron was and some lawyer brought up some subject about the law of the nation. And the lawyer said Piers was wrong because it was against the Constitutional law and Piers snapped and said well I don't interpret YOUR Constitution the way YOU Americans do. Of course not because it was designed so we wouldn't have the British system of a monarchy who has supreme lifetime authority ,but a president who is elected by the people to run only for a certain time, a system of checks and balances, and to get away from a class system which only the very wealthy could run for parliament.
BTW, I would never ever go to another country and throw my weight around like he dose which is embarrassing and aggravating. Also, I would never move to a country and put the country down. A lot of other nations would not put up with a foreigner moving into their country and spouting off what a crappy way they do things etc.the way we do. They would throw you out with in a snap!
R10 what part of PORN GUY did you not understand, fuckwit?
Bill Weir has a moist hole.
Piers is a sleazy tabloid person from the UK, but at least he challenged the NRA - NOT ONE OTHER reporter/journalist/media person or politician has done that.
I wonder why Piers never mentions his Irish Catholic roots. He's probably afraid that his "arrogant British" routine would have holes punched in it. I hate it when he differentiates himself from America. That's bad reportage.A good reporter/host wouldn't bring up nationality so flippantly. However Piers does. As bad as Larry King was he never pulled this arrogant routine like Piers Morgan has done.
