He's not fired. He's in his 60s and he looks it. Cops are retired by then. He's been phoning Munch in for years. The character usd to be interesting, had a philosophy, a bunch of ex-wives, was off-beat. Now he's just an old guy who days, "Oh yeah? Well, you're under arrest. Come on."
He's always been a fug.
They've been inching him out for years, so I'm not surprised. Why did they even have him in the credits, if you so rarely saw him? I'm sure he's got it socked away. Maybe Melissa Leo can throw him a bone?
It is totally ridiculous that a man his age would still be on the NYPD, so letting him go makes sense. He looked too old for that job 10 years ago.
If that's the case then Dann Florek should go, too.
Oh, please, R1. If it wasn't his choice to leave then he was fired.
Where does it say it wasn't his choice? He's still going to make appearances.
He had (has?) cancer and lives in France. My feeling is that he probably wanted to leave anyway, for health reasons or otherwise.
R8, he had testicular cancer in 1983. If it hasn't killed him by now, it's not going to. Doesn't mean that he's immune from anything else, but he's out of the woods with regard to that one.
AS an actor, he was SLIGHTLY better than Ice-T.
Oh, and by the way, Ice-T Loves Coco.
Miss Diane Neal
Bummer, him and his black suits. He just needed a scythe and he was the angel of death.
What I liked about him was that he was a link to Homicide and that was such a great show.
He actually dresses like that in real life. You can't miss him walking down the street on the west side.
Testicular cancer is one of the most curable cancers. It's basically 100% curable unless someone is demented and lets it spread. My BIL is schizophrenic and was found to have testicular cancer when an NP palpated huge lumps in his abdomen. He had tumors all over the place. He was cured.
For the last few years he has had almost nothing to do.
At times he hasn't appeared in 5 straight original episodes.
Better than Ice-T (who isn't?) and gay-friendly Mr Belzer. Don't be hatin' on him!
Ive seen 70 year olds who look better than him.
R16 He nearly is 70.
Did anyone else notice that except for last season's finale, he and Dann Florek didn't appear in any episode together last season? The budget must be threadbare.
It wasn't just Belzer's age, perhaps. He also has a burgeoning career as a writer and speaker for conspiracy/UFO areas (interestingly mirroring his character's quirks) and it may be either he wanted to go with that or the show people thought it was a distraction.
He looks like a Satanist to me.
OP is a huge drama queen who dissembles. Belzer wasn't fired. He's the one who wanted to leave, and he agreed to " leave the door open" to Munch returning once or twice.
I like old quirky characters like him. Shows with only bland guys we would like to fuck would be boring.
He makes me horny.
My favorite Richard Belzer story is from the 90s, Gilbert Gottfried was in the hospital for a burst appendix and Richard came to visit him but just sat in Gilbert's room and read the newspaper without a word.
You're funny R23.
My sexual fantasy is having a 3 way with Richard Belzer and Abe Vigoda. Wouldn't that be hot? Wouldn't that be fucking hot??
Jesus R26, you are on a roll. YES IT WOULD BE HOT!!!!!!!!
Fuckin' Law & Order: SVU is STILL on the air?!
He'll never make "guest appearances." He was fired. He's gone. Forever. Thank God.
He is out on a book tour for his book on the Kennedy assassination. His book is doing well and it's been highly praised especialy in JFK research circles. I kinda think he'd rather be doing book related work right now.
He may have been fired but the timing is too odd for me to 100% believe it.
Why does he wear dark glasses all the time?
He's very outspoken.
[quote] He was fired. He's gone. Forever. Thank God.
Wow, R29, Law & Order: SVU must be a huge part of your life.
I liked that he always represented an anti-fascist viewpoint countering Stabler's right-wing BS.
OP continues to be a liar. He'll be back a couple of times this season as an investigator for Raul Esparza, which they already set up.
Why do you have so much invested in the idea of him being fired, OP?
I don't, R35. I just think he's disgusting to look at and wouldn't know a credible acting choice if it struck him in his extra creepy pockmarked face. I also gather he's a huge pain in the ass to work with.
Jesus, the shallow queens on this board.
His looks have nothing to do with the character he portrayed. Sorry that everyone can't look like the love child of an A&F male model and a girl from Hitler's Lebensborn project for you to approve of their appearance.
Did he kneel down before the spicy uncut Cuban pinga of Danny Pino before his big exit?
Did anyone see his last episode with all of the references to his role on "Homicide"? They even had Clark Johnson from that show, and in the last scene where he's cleaning out his desk, he answers the phone with "Homicide".
[quote] just think he's disgusting to look at and wouldn't know a credible acting choice if it struck him in his extra creepy pockmarked face. I also gather he's a huge pain in the ass to work with.
And I'm sure you're a beauty queen. It's always the least attractive that point out other's flaws just like here, the one with the smallest penis point at celeb photos and scream Tinymeat! Makes them feel better about themselves.
It was cool that they gave him a nice send off. I never watched Homicide but I knew the character came from there. Nice that they referenced that. Also kind of oil that they had Munch's ex wives at hs farewell party.
Belzer is a nice guy. Ran into him a few years ago at a restaurant on the UWS, very funny and down to earth. As opposed to Mariska who was kind of a cunt when I met her.
I hope he shows some hole before his departure.
Do you think Chris Meloni and Danny Pino will have a swordfight in his mouth for the finale? What are the main similarities and differences in the penises of Meloni and Pino?
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
