Last night I saw a movie at the Hong Kong Film Festival called "Bends" in which one of the characters was a wealthy woman whose husband mysteriously takes off, cancelling her credit cards, emptying the bank accounts and eventually putting their home up for sale. The movie made it seem like she had no recourse. Don't they have community property laws in Hong Kong? Can she really just be thrown out on the street like yesterday's newspaper?
