Since we have threads for other shows and I didn't see one for H5O...
Not sure how the show is holding up on its change to Friday nights but I think even if it's numbers are down, CBS isn't about to cancel it.
Tim Daly guest starred in the latest episode and looked fine. Speaking of looking good, it appeared that Scotty Caan was commando under his gray shorts for the opening and closing sequences.
Steve and Wo Fat aren't half-brothers despite fans' beliefs. Unless Steve's DNA test was changed or falsified.
Could be, OP.
Why the hell would Doris have such an interest in that pyschopath?
It's been sort of boring. I really don't like the fact that the girlfriend is around a lot more. She is better in small doses.
Soilers? I don't even want to know ...
When does Nick Jonas appear?
With Kam Fong as Chin Ho!
Scottie hangs to the left.
It was very brazen for network television. You could definitely make out the head in his shorts.
Why have they stopped showing Steve naked?
I'll start watching again when they make Daniel Dae Kim take his shirt off.
Didn't Steve take off his shirt on last Monday's episode? Or was it on the season premier?
Nice new car, too.
Get rid of the girlfriend. (But supposedly there will be a Steve & Catherine wedding coming up. Ugh!)
Oh, please tell me you are kidding, R10????!!!!
One of the things about the show that I love the most is the bromance between Danny and Steve.
It's fantastic!!! Don't need no stinkin' girlfriend to mess up the dynamic.
I have soiled myself! How embarrassing.
Another homoerotic moment with McGarrett and Dan-o sitting next to each other during a rom-com movie with their girlfriends.
Loved it too, R13.
They were all chummy and whispery and giggly.
Thank goodness Dann-o's girlfriend is leaving the show.
The ratings were down for last night's episode.
Some of the WORST green-screening during the opening of tonight's episode.
Do you need to test Steve's DNA to see if he's related to Wo-Fat? I happen to have a sample on me.
Does anyone know the scoop about the "Kono & Adam on the run across Asia" storyline being a cover for Grace Park's maternity leave in Vancouver? The fangirls are whispering about it online -- supposedly she doesn't want anyone to know about it, and the network is keeping the news out of the press. I realize she ain't exactly Angie Jolie, but even still I can't imagine even the fourth lead on a CBS procedural could keep a baby out of the media in today's world. If the story's true, there must be some tragic circumstances to compel TMZ et. al. to keep their mouths shut.
How about the story that Scott Caan has finally managed to break his contract and Chi McBride will take Danno's place as Steve's partner? Nothing against McBride, but that would be the end of my little remaining interest in the show.
I can't find it now, but I saw an interview with Alex O'Loughlin a few weeks ago where he mentioned "problems with the cast" in passing, so maybe one of those rumors has some substance. It was also the first time I've ever heard Alex say anything negative about the show and that he was starting to lose interest in it. He's usually very rah-rah-rah about H50, so something must have changed.
No Danno and I'm done with the show.

Haven't heard it, and I've only seen three episodes this season (I'll be catching up on DVR'd stuff when I have time off over the holidays). As for why she'd want to keep it out of the press: she's a private person, maybe? (I honestly can't recall ever reading *anything* about her in the media.) Or maybe it was the result of a one-nighter and she's embarrassed about it? (I still think this is why January Jones has never revealed the father of her child.)

Also haven't heard this one, and I'm with you: my interest in the show would wane completely without the Steve/Danny interaction. I don't know why Caan would want off the show, unless the rumors are true about him being gay and married and he's having issues at home from spending eight months a year in Hawaii, but leads on network shows are typically signed to five-year contracts, so Scott's would be up at the end of next season; maybe they're lining up Chi to be a replacement. (He's only been on one episode I've seen thus far, but I read a while back that he's based on a character from the original show and is intended to be on at least recurring status for the foreseeable future.)
Btw as for CBS moving it to Friday, I don't think it's a sign that it's losing faith in the show -- quite the opposite, actually. "Blue Bloods" is performing well on Fridays, too, so CBS appears to have reversed the decades-long ratings declines for shows airing on Fridays. I imagine time-shifted viewing fits in to some extent as well, although this being CBS, I'm guessing the shows' average viewer age is well over 50 (and thus less likely to DVR shows).
Notice how Scott hasn't had much airtime this season...
Or maybe it was the result of a one-nighter and she's embarrassed about it?
Grace Park is married but her husband stayed behind in their Vancouver home while she moved to Hawaii for the show. Assuming it's his kid, I can't think of any reason why she'd want to keep it out of the press. I hate to think there's some sad reason, like medical problems with her or the fetus or something.
I don't know why Caan would want off the show
If you believe the gossip, he never wanted to be on the show in the first place. Supposedly he only did the pilot because he was told it didn't have a chance in hell for pickup, and it was some quick cash and a few weeks in Hawaii. CBS had tried and failed to revive the show two or three times prior to 2010, and with series killer Alex O'Loughlin as the star no one thought this version would make it. All four of the leads committed to six seasons when they were cast (O'Loughlin confirmed that in an interview). It would explain why Caan never does any promotion for the show and is always mean-mouthing Hawaii.
As much as I'd hate to see him go, it already feels to me like the old Danno is gone already. There used to be much more focus on the Steve/Danno relationship in the first seasons, but now it's like Danno's been reduced to the wacky sidekick and Steve is the supercop who's always a step ahead of everyone else. They should just change the name to "The Alex O'Loughlin Show" and have him swoop down a big staircase every week in a lovely suit.
R19/R23 cracked me up with that last sentence. So true.

So he's this generation's Natalie Schafer?
So what else would Scotty have lined up? He's not strong enough to carry a television show all by himself and his movie career is almost non-existent.
He could so some porn
So what else would Scotty have lined up? He's not strong enough to carry a television show all by himself and his movie career is almost non-existent.
He's writing plays and wants to open his own theater.
He seems to be mostly into theater, R26. He writes and directs productions for his own theater group in L.A. Melanie Griffith was in one of them last year, which is probably how she got roped into playing Danno's mom this year.
I assume with his family money, whatever he's saved and his H50 syndication money he can work as he pleases. Considering how snobby he is about his artistic ambitions, I hope for his sake it's true.
This is a tad off topic, but I figured that some of you here might find this amusing. A few years back, I ran into Tim Daly at the Equinox in midtown NYC. He was on an elliptical machine reading scripts. He looks abut older in person than he does on screen. An hour later, I ran into him in the locker room. He was toweling off after a shower. His body was decent, but his cock was very, very tiny.
What was in the safe? CBS even had a promo with a tag line like "What 5-O finds will SHOCK you".
It was the fingers that the serial killer cut off of his victims!
So not only did Danno's ex let him have the kid all day Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (and all day Thanksgiving, apparently), but also hop on a plane and pop over to Japan to visit a stranger in a refugee camp? Guess we're just supposed to assume something has changed in their custody agreement.
The kid who plays Grace seems to have improved her acting skills. She's always come across like Bobby Buntrock in pigtails in the past, but lately she's been saying her lines with actual inflection and facial expressions.
Is it a common tradition anywhere to visit the graves of loved ones on Christmas Day? Steve should have been hanging with Danno and Grace instead of moping around the cemetery.
Was happy to see Chin get some action and save himself rather than Super Steve coming to the rescue. Why they don't get him out of his shirt more often I'll never know.
Ideal episode: McGarrett and Danno go undercover as a gay married couple with Chin as their houseboy. Hilarity (and action!) ensues.
Scott Caan looked cute in those beach shorts.
I thought Scott Caan looked gross in those beach shorts. His waist up to his head take up about 2/3 of his height. He reminded me of Dorf. HE actually looked deformed. Normally, he looks cute for a pocket gay, even with that giant head, but all I could think was that they must really hate him to film him in such an unflattering angle and pose. He has nice legs closeup, but they shouldn't film him in long shots. He looked much better when he was wearing those sweatpants at the end of the show. Not deformed at all.
As they say on DL ... Useless without pics of Scotty
Some serious floppage from Scott in the last episode. Wouldn't it be fun if all the shows were so lax about little bulging from their stars.
I wonder how the production company can allow an actor to show off their junk while filming?
I missed the floppage. When did it occur? I can always review it On Demand.
I can't believe the producers made Michelle Borth a regular. Don't they realize the relationship viewers want to see is between Steve and Danno? Her character is just a 3rd wheel that's screwing with the chemistry.
And I still say Danno's daughter makes Lilly from Modern Family look like Meryl fucking Streep. Cute kid, but painful to watch.
Didn't they say the refugee camp was in Hawaii ?
I think it was somewhere in Hawaii.
No, R42, it was in Japan -- though I'm sure they filmed it in Hawaii. See link.
The floppage was towards the end of the show, R41, after the crime was solved. Danno and Grace are outside playing with her new Xmas roller blades.
I think Michelle Borth is there specifically to put a damper on the Steve/Danno relationship so they won't come off so gay. She has no chemistry with Steve, or with the rest of the cast for that matter. And even for this dumb show, it's ridiculous that she's somehow qualified to be a police officer out of nowhere. I hope she at least leaves the team once Kono gets back, if not the show.
Oh, okay then. How the fuck do they go to Japan for this? Danny must have lots of money.
I'm pretty sure Katherine was put there to keep the guys from appearing too gay, definitely.
Their bromance has taken a back seat, for sure.
Danny was a cop in New Jersey but then moved to Hawaii. I don't know what the cost of living is in HI or what the pay difference is, but I would think that he lost some money in the move. Despite that though, Steve always comes across as being short on money while Danny always has a good sum on him.
he picks up the extra cash blackmailing Steve because he has the pics of their time stranded on the boat when he thought they were going to die and they ...
Another episode without Scotty this week. I wonder how the episodes were filmed and are being aired, it seems like every other episode is Danno-less.
Has there been any McDanno lately?
Danno has been on the past few episodes because of a subplot involving his mother, played by Melanie Griffith, who left Danny's father and travelled to Hawaii.
They've had quite a bit of screen time together the past two weeks, R48, but it's not been very enjoyable. The whole cast continues to treat Danno like he's Urkel, even Max the autistic coroner. Steve is especially hypocritical by dismissing Danno's worries about his parents' divorce, considering how Steve drags everyone else into his insane family drama.
But here's the latest bullshit they're trying to pull: you know how the entire series, since the first fucking episode, has been about Steve leaving the Navy and joining 5-0 to avenge his father's murder? Well, turns out that's just the cover story he's been telling all his loved ones. The real truth is that he was just too heartbroken over the death of Freddie the SEAL, who we didn't even know existed until the end of last year, to go back to the Navy and took the 5-0 job to avoid facing his grief. This information was pried out of him by his new soulmate Chi McBride, who is the only person who understands Steve well enough to see he was hiding the truth. Steve can't share that fact with the rest of his team because, unlike Chi and himself, the others don't really understand what it's like to lose someone.
[italic]Seriously?!?[/italic] After all the murder and grief and pain that each of the team has been through, some of it directly caused by their devotion to Steve, and yet they can't relate to the fairly common experience of losing someone they fought beside? Even Gwyneth Paltrow is watching that shit and saying, "damn, what a self-absorbed bitch that McGarret is."
I'm now actively rooting for Danno to be killed off so I can put my weird obsession with this stupid show behind me.
Thanks for the recap, R50.
Any new gossip on whether or not Scott Caan is actually leaving?
SCOTT CAAN is one sexy midget.
Entertainment trade papers are reporting that Jorge Garcia has been signed as a series regular. Just what the show needs to an already expanded cast.
I think they need to find better clothes for Scott Caan - the last time I saw the show he looked like some schlubby office worker. It's not like there's nothing to work with there.
I think the show purposely dresses Scott Caan that way because it fits Danno's shtick (i.e. the fish out of water in a tropical location). He's not supposed to look comfortable.
Michelle Borth leaving Hawaii Five-0
Published Mar 27 2014, 5:00pm EDT | By Justin Harp
Michelle Borth is leaving Hawaii Five-0, it has been reported.
Borth will be written out as Steve McGarrett's (Alex O'Loughlin) love interest Cat Rollins near the end of the current fourth season, according to TV Line.
Upcoming episodes will explore Cat Rollins's background in the military as part of the lead-up to her departure.
Borth first appeared in Hawaii Five-0 in season one, being promoted to a series regular beginning in the third season.
Mallika Sherawat and Nick Jonas have both been lined up to appear in upcoming installments of the CBS police drama.
Hawaii Five-0 airs on Fridays at 9pm ET on CBS.
Yeah, I'm sort of glad she is gone. They didn't have much for her to do in season 3 so it was a surprise they made her a regular on season 4.
I think they just wanted her to remind people that Steve was a heterosexual, since he had, and continues to have, amazing chemistry with Danno.
It's interesting too that said, Steve and Danno, really haven't had much screen time together lately.
Jorge Garcia is better in very small doses so I hope he's not in every episode.
Hopefully they'll kill off her character in some horrible way so she can never come back.
Scott Caan Replaces Shia LaBeouf in ‘Rock the Kasbah’
MARCH 31, 2014 | 06:40PM PT
Dave McNary, Film Reporter
Scott Caan has replaced Shia LaBeouf in Bill Murray’s indie comedy “Rock the Kasbah.”
LaBeouf had come on to the project in January after announcing that he was leaving public life due to “attacks against his artistic integrity.” Producers did not disclose why LaBeouf has departed.
Bill Block’s QED launched foreign sales at the European Film Market. Production will start in June with Barry Levinson directing from Mitch Glazer’s script. Bruce Willis, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson and Danny McBride are also starring.
Block, Venture Forth’s Jacob Pechenik, Shangri-La Entertainment’s Steve Bing and Glazer will produce. Brian Grazer and Tom Freston are exec producing. Story centers on a has-been rock manager who takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan. When he finds himself in Kabul, abandoned, penniless and without his passport, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of “American Idol.”
Open Road obtained U.S. rights during the Berlin Film Festival.
Caan will play a con man in Kabul. He’s repped by Paradigm and Sloane Offer.
Nice opening scene on Friday's episode with a shirtless Danny in bed (alas, not with Steve). Dang, that man in furry!
Loved the "I love you" scene with Danny and Steve this week!
Can someone explain the McGarretts / Wo Fat back story and/or tell me if I'm correct? From what I recall, Steve's mother was supposed to kill Wo Fat's father but, for some unknown reason, let him get away but her partner killed Wo Fat's mother by mistake. Thinking his father was dead, Wo Fat then killed McGarrett's father, causing Steve to go after Wo Fat. We've just learned that Mr. Fat is, in fact alive, but Wo doesn't. What all this has to do with Ma McGarrett fleeing the country is unknown.
