Any predictions? I started the thread because someone in another thread claimed polls show that straight women and gay men are about equal here. I don't agree and I think the poll will show that gay men are still a majority here.
This threads needs to be bumped to work, help me out guys!
16 votes and no straight women yet. Very interesting.
I don't think your poll works. I tried.
Wouldn't "A black, Jewish lesbian in a wheelchair" fall into the general "lesbian" category?
R4 = humorless lesbian.
This should have been a poll.
How can the poll not work when 32 people have already voted, including me?
[quote]A black, Jewish lesbian in a wheelchair
wtf, is the supposed to mean?
Will the straight man please post full frontal pics?
For once in my life, I'm in the majority.
Aren't we all deep down inside a black, Jewish lesbian in a wheelchair?
I voted a category I'm not in just to fuck with OP.
OP, you shouldn't have lumped everyone born before 1960 together. It would have been interesting to see how old some posters really skew.
You're over 50, R12. There's nothing interesting about you!
73 votes and straight women haven't even cracked 6%.
Gay men combined are almost 79%.
I think that settles that.
We do this poll every two months or so. The past 7 or 8 versions have shown straight women to be around 40-45% of the DL population. Those results were consistently dismissed as the result of gay men voting as straight women because gay men love to lie.
Now you blatantly announce what you'd like the results to be, and assume that they prove something? Bullshit.
I will never understand why straight women are so invested in being perceived as gay men on DL.
Maybe the women are employed, and will vote later??? Just a thought.
Of COURSE it's not a scientific poll! We also don't have 4 wheelchair- bound Jewish lesbians of color here, either. Just FYI.
[quote]Those results were consistently dismissed as the result of gay men voting as straight women because gay men love to lie.
That sounds like pretty homophobic reasoning.
[quote]Maybe the women are employed, and will vote later???
So does that.
I don't think very many gay men here support inflating the numbers of straight women here, even as a joke. I think most of us are annoyed that they're even here at all and would rather see them gone.

Allow me to introduce you to R17:
[quote]I think most of us are annoyed that they're even here at all and would rather see them gone.
Now do you get why we try to fly as low as possible under the radar?
What R15 said. This isn't "long overdue" OP, this poll has been done with several hundreds of votes many times here. Including just a few months ago. You aren't special.
The point is, R18, is that you've acting like straight girls are some persecuted minority at DL, when in reality you've already taken over. DL has adapted to fit your needs and interests, and the demographics are shifting as a result. The soap fans strutting around the boards drunk with power are the least of the evidence of that. The Great Frauen War is over, and you've won. So why are you pretending you're not here?
Like it or not, and regardless of the results of your contaminated, redundant poll, you're the dominant force on DL now. Step up and take responsibility for your board, and stop wearing the old board like a serial killer's skin-suit. The next time someone attributes one of your posts to a gay man, have the ovaries to step up and own your words instead of passive-aggressively letting them be attributed to those mean DL queens that you're driving away.
WTF, R21? Drama much? I would hardly call 10% a take over. And most of the straight girls here are lurkers. They don't wield any power.
Maybe you should have the balls to admit that its gay men who are obsessed with soaps. I sure don't watch them. Neither do any other women I know.
Honestly, if you really want to chase the frauen away, you need a new strategy because frau bashing hasn't been particularly effective. Here's a tip: flood the board with tons of threads about soaps, politics, theater gossip, old Hollywood, and dried up old gay icons like Cher and Madonna. They'll get bored and leave.
r21 I doubt any young women below 35 watches soap, and those above 35 won't know how to access internet. I've been called 'MARY' many times because my opinions are different than yours, but that doesn't make me a girl. I do agree there are fangirls who take over threads sometimes, but not in anything else. I remember the Henry Cavil thread, now that was filled with fangirls.
[quote]wtf, is the supposed to mean?
That Michfest is missing your nutloaf, R8.
"A black, Jewish lesbian in a wheelchair"
OP is James Watt.
Damn...the eld#rgays really do reign supreme!
I am part of the 50% gay male born before 1969 membership (includes both the 1960-1969 and pre-1960 voting categories), and with a few timeouts, I watched one or another of the P&G soaps from 1988 to the last day of ATWT.
I am NOT a frau. I don't really understand why they're here. But AFAIK, they're not the members who drive the soap discussions.
It was the very nice discussion sometime in the past year about Connie Ford and Another World that convinced me to pay $18 for a datalounge membership. If that discussion had been zapped a day earlier, I would more than likely have read datalounge the day I read it and moved on. But you guys were talking about Ada.
I hope we can continue to read soap threads, however unoffically (I love the stealth titles). What I read here constitutes the best soap discussion I've read on the internet. It's not censored, we all love WilSon, which seems especially important now that Nuke and Ruke are gone for good.
And we can express proper hate for that ChikFilA-loving, probably now Barilla-buying, soapfrau -- YES, SOAPFRAU -- Jennifer Horton, AND call her a cunt without someone going postal, screaming "You used the C word, you used the C word."
datalounge: a great place to discuss the soaps, even if we have to pretend we aren't discussing the soaps.
I voted straight woman, reset my computer, and did it again. Several times.
I hope this pisses off the silly OP.
I don't think women are driving the soap threads. That's mostly a bunch of old queens from my reading. I think gay men are still the majority, but that the few straight females we have stand out, usually for clueless stupidity and/or homophobia.
I gotcha poll right here baby, waitin' fer ya!
Bump for better poll
Why does this poll say straight women are 10% and the other one says they're 17%?
I know one person who watches soaps and that's my 91 year old grandmother. And she doesn't post on DL.
I'm a straight woman who has been reading this site for about six months... I've made about 5 posts, I do not lurk, I work.
I continue to read in order to have some real laugh out loud endings to some shitty days after a long shift, usually with a glass of wine before bed, I ignore the slutty threads except bubble butts which I share an appreciation for. Why are some men so resentful of that?
I'm curious about the straight guys.
[quote]Why are some men so resentful of that?
You're mistaking annoyance for resentment. You're annoying. Like most women.
Gay mean aren't here to amuse you r38.
R41, I like the cut of your Freudian slip.
I had no idea that most people here were "pre-Stonewall" but it explains the outdated political beliefs.
No wonder they think "The Great Society" was a good idea, and that WW2 was the "Good War".
Thank God the Internet has exposed the depraved nature of those beliefs.
Thank god you're a minority lunatic troll on the DL, R43.
I'm surprised by the numbers of elderly men.
Wow... the majority of responders are in their forties. Small wonder we're so bitchy and surrounded by tedious old whores and their Village People mentality.
How does pointing out that ignorance about government is endemic to senior citizens make me a "lunatic"?
Whines: Can't we all just get aloooong?
5 posts in 6 months qualifies you as a lurker, R38.
And this thread is why I love every one of you, including R38.
I love you too R38, I use this boring shit to fall asleep every night.
[quote]What [R15] said. This isn't "long overdue" OP, this poll has been done with several hundreds of votes many times here. Including just a few months ago. You aren't special.
There were other short buses in the world besides yours.
