and boy does the military sure have thin skins.
I've been at my current job for about a year now (I came onboard when the facility opened). I have a graduate degree (MBA) and have always excelled and surpassed my required weekly quota.
Our entire management team is all ex-military. Some have been to community college, but most are high school educated and went straight into the army.
We have been bringing on new employees lately who are moving off rate and grabbing better positions than those of who started at the very beginning all because they served.
I brought this up and got a rather hostile response from management. Telling me that "I'm stupid, lazy and don't know a damn thing about serving and protecting freedom."
I then added that I was smart enough to not go "terrorize and murder innocent women and children to further increase the wealth of the elite." I also told them that if I was "so lazy" then why do I get weekly written praise on being a top performer. Finally I said "freedom" and just chuckled.
They were pissed and one guy was even crying.
I seriously think they were so upset because they knew I was correct. No?
I'm on personal leave today.
Are you sure you'll still have your job?
Probably not, but I have a second job I can fall back on.
It was only an $11/hr warehouse job.
Good for you then. You had balls nonetheless.
You have an MBA and work in a warehouse? Wow.
In case you don't know, the First Lady has been leading an effort for businesses to hire veterans.
Yes. And more people need to have the balls to say this shit. The profession of soldier needs to be reviled for the evil it truly is.

When trolls get sloppy...

Jobs are very scare in my area now. I actually do have an interview coming up next week for The Dept. of Social Services to be a case worker. I'm really hoping to get a job where I can help people.
Biggest make believe post in history.
"I'm really hoping to get a job where I can help people."
Set your sights to the highest such job possible: DL Editor.
That's cool. No requirement to believe.
It's no wonder your employer chose someone over you for promotion.
In your arrogance you might have missed the training and character development the military can provide. Employers know what they are getting when they hire those with military experience. Why deal with some jerk off like the OP when you have choices?
Underachieving and socially unskilled yet cocky warehouse worker gets up in the face of uneducated military jarheads, loses job. How inspiring.
Good luck in your career as a social worker, OP. Maybe you'll read your clients for filth too.
MBA is clearly a Masters in Bitchy Attitude.
Good luck with all that, hon.
So how many people have you guys killed?
Cue drunken troll meltdown in 3... 2... 1...
How many kids did you kill today?
Military vets these days are a dime a dozen. it's a surprise these jerks you work with haven't shot up the place with their PTSD angst from raping and murdering kids and women.
Military have always discriminated against civilians. One time I had an interview with an ad agency staffed entirely with ex-military people (it went out of business long ago - they are idiots), and they thought my self-presentation "arrogant" so they brought me in for an interview and made me sit there for two hours thinking I would be angry and humiliated. I just laughed and laughed. These idiots joined up so the military would make men of them, and have no regard for people who manage to grow up without that assistance; but I'm not sure the training took: they seem like little boys who never grew up.
The worst time was during the hysteria of 2003 when I was temping at an ad agency who had the military account and my coworker demanded she be given an assignment instead of me because "her husband was in the Gulf" and I must be some kind of evil Muslim shirker that I was not off fighting for my country. These people are a criminal class and their influence in our society is malignant.
Well, you have a wonderful imagination, OP. Thank you so much for that little short story.
Like I said...it is not a requirement for you to believe me. I just posted what I experienced. I've been here on DL since '96, I know when the knives will come out but it is better than posting yet another tired Madonna or Real Housewives thread.
BTW, I return to work on Sunday evening.

That's good 'cause you made the whole thing up. We can tell.
