Sean Penn, first and foremost. Not only infamous for punching out paparazzi, but also beat his first wife (and many claim his second).
Chris Brown. Beat Rihanna, and then threw a chair out the window when he was cofnronted with beating Rihanna.
Russell Crowe. Used to pick fistfights (which he usually lost) in bars; infamously flung a cellphone a a hotel clerk, for which he had to settle out of court for six figures.
Naomi Campbell. Flings things at the help when they incur her wrath.
I did NOT slap that policeman!
Sometimes the bitch is going to tell the press you blew Chris Walken, and you've got to teach her a lesson. Leave her out there awhile Captain, she's fine.
Kanye West has pending battery charges for attacking a pap.
But, it was an accident! Je le jure !
All of them. All my men. They beat me. I can't figure out why...
"infamously flung a cellphone a a hotel clerk"
It wasn't a cellphone, it was a landline phone.
I'm Irish. It's in my nature.
-- Alec Baldwin pummeling a paparazzi
R17, this was a different event. The cellphone was a hotel clerk. They have them now in the best NYC hotels.
Does Michael Fassbender count? There was that thing with his ex... allegedly he burst one of her ovarian cysts but the charges ended up being dropped.
I hate to defend Russell Crowe BUT
He throw the phone and it bounced off a counter and hit the clerk. If he threw it directly at the clerk it would have been prison worthy.
"The cellphone was a hotel clerk."
You're not really "defending Russell" Crowe, r21. Even if he didn't throw it directly at the clerk, his violence was still enough that he was arrested and had to do a perp walk in front of photographers; and he also had to pay the clerk a substantial sum not to sue him.
I'm loving this thread.
I can't believe it took 24 posts.
It's oh so quiet.
I once gave Meryl Streep my baby to kiss...
And she bit it!
I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that would curl your hair if it got out, but many stars' violent episodes are carefully cleaned up and swept under the carpet.
Tom Hanks - ask his wife.
Why wouldn't Michael Fassbender count R20? He's just lucky he's still not widely known or that would've made a bigger splash in the entertainment news. Then again, Sean Penn has been getting away with it for years just because he can "ACT!"
maybe she lied about Fassie. dropped charges signify some strangeness there. maybe he's never beat on a woman!
Terrence Howard thinks women are punching bags.
In February 2009, it was reported on The Smoking Gun that Howard was arrested in 2001 for a variety of charges related to a violent attack on his estranged wife, including simple assault, terrorist threats, harassment and stalking. According to police reports, he arrived at her house after an argument on the phone, forced entry into her home by breaking in doors, and chased her into the back yard where he punched her twice in the face with a closed fist. The violent attack ended when Howard's brother stopped it. In 2002 he pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace.
These issues came to light after he reportedly downplayed singer Chris Brown's 2009 arrest for attacking his girlfriend Rihanna. When Howard was asked about the allegations of domestic violence against Brown, he told a reporter from Hollywood.TV "It's just life, man. Chris is a great guy. He'll be all right, and Rihanna knows he loves her, you know? They'll be all right."
According to The Smoking Gun, Howard was also arrested for assaulting a Continental Airlines flight attendant after refusing her request to return to his seat because the seat belt sign was on.
According to Philadelphia magazine, Howard punched a woman in a Pennsylvania diner in 2005 and was charged with simple assault and harassment. Those charges were later withdrawn, and Howard plead guilty to disorderly conduct. In 2012, an ex-girlfriend of Howard accused him of punching and kicking her at his home. No charges were filed against Howard, but charges were filed against the ex-girlfriend. These charges were later withdrawn, and according to a lawsuit filed in Philadelphia, Howard paid the woman $75,000 to sign a non-disclosure agreement about the incident at his home. In August 2013, Howard's second ex-wife, Michelle Ghent, obtained a restraining order against him after showing up in court with a black eye she says he gave her. Howard has denied hitting her.
Goddamn it, someone else got to be Diane Lane's Bag of Frozen Peas before I did.
Naomi's not the only one with a violent streak: Glenn Campbell beat Tanya Tucker. Of course, now it's all forgotten.
R36, EVERYONE beat Tanya Tucker.
My cousin's friend who was a stylist to ALL the major Nashville stars said he once witnessed Tanya's friends - Brenda Lee, Little Richard, and Burt Reynolds - line up to smack her in the gut with a bag of nectarines.
Tanya loved what she called "The shaved peach routine."
Try to pull off one little Alzheimer's joke about Glenn Campbell.....
David Soul beat his wife. But is he a star? Was he, in retrospect?
Phil Hartman and Gig Young both killed theirs.
And the majority of these actors mentioned are super-lefties, Penn especially. Such raving hypocrisy!
NOT Bradley Cooper!
Nicholas Cage is a wife beater, girlfriend beater. Woman beater.
Michelle Obama beats Barry. Seriously.
I remember BIs everyone said were about Josh Duhamel from years ago, but nothing recent.
Sean Connery advocated it.
It takes an actor to do this. They have to frighten the victim with violence enough to dominate them.
Then, they have to create enough honeymoon and terror cycles to keep the torture fresh.
An older brother pulled this shit. He's been dropped from everyones' lives.
Technically, what Anjelica Huston does is not the kind of violence considered here. The use of familiars, occult power and the occasional strong-arm work of minions, however, has done more damage to more people than I could count.
The entire thing was bullshit arranged by Lawrence Bender, Quentin Tarantino's (now former) producer. The ex who accused Fassbender was Bender's former on/off mistress and the mother of his child. He basically coerced her into making those accusations in exchange for taking her back. She's a former "erotic" model/actress with no job skills to speak of.
But she got back with Fassbender afterwards and dropped the charges.
Jack Nicklaus also advocated it, but I don't know if he actually beat his wife.
No, she didn't get back with Fassbender after the charges. She was literally photographed with Lawrence Bender at a pre-Golden Globes party TWO DAYS before the gossip about them supposedly hooking up was reported. You really think she dumped her multi-millionaire producer boyfriend TWICE for Fassbender. That was a classic media hack job. And she or Bender has an in with someone who works at the New York Daily News, which has published three fake stories about this whole debacle.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
